  • que wapa esta cancion de nirvana !!... a espera no que es un puto plagio de mierda !!

  • Kurt Cobain inspiration :D

    _o_

    ^^)

  • Awesome song. Cool priest shirt the guy had on.

  • The similarity with Nirvana is the same like with Van Halen Aint'n talk about love

  • Like this if you:

    A) Push

    B) Struggle

    C) All of the above

  • What's all this talk about Nirvana? Those posers didn't have one percent of the raw talent manifested in Killing Joke.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer What's all this talk about Killing Joke? Those posers didn't have one percent of the raw talent manifested in The Damned. /watch?v=Z4J2aU6glt0 There ya go. :3

  • @KingCabootle

"Those posers didn't have one percent of the raw talent manifested in The Damned."

Okay okay. The Damned probably became the gods of many universes during their existence.

  • Come as you are, as you were..

  • The eighties weren't perfect, love him or hate him we had Reagan. People were more tolerant then and understood free speech towards anyone. We lived in constant fear of nukes pointed at us, but you know what, we had community, good music, and good video games and other things we enjoyed then. Not everything was at you're fingertips, but you appeciated it even more when you got it. Things were simple then.

  • Ahhhhhhhhh Eighties! Push! Push! Struggle! Brilliant look (especially the guitarist) and sound! Incredible decade of music!!

  • nice guitar =]

  • come as you fucking want if this music means a part of oure lives.

  • I came here, as a fan, as a friend.

  • @michaelb3197 i see what you did there!

  • @robertmaniac Good lad! ;)

  • Before we and our children become fully enslaved, it's important that this 'riff' -question is finally settled. We don't want to go like a bunch of quarrelling mugs - we each have our dignity and opinions, SO : who twanged it first : Geordie, years ago.?.. or Tragic Cobain.?. lot's of, but less.. years ago. DOES IT REALLY MATTER ? Watch 'Inside Job' by Charles Ferguson.

  • The 60's brought rock to fore, the seventies brought classics into being, the Eighties fought superficiality to be significant, the 90's went against all the eighties made, the 2000's have yet to find an identity. I think for every insignificant band produced by the eighties, there were 2 who were good enough to survive. The Ramones, The Police, Squeeze, English Beat, The Specials, The Cult, U2, The Cure, Joy Division, New Order, REM, The Dead Kennedy's, Black Flag, Echo and the Bunnymen, ect,

  • @Msumner316 More that half of those bands are from the 70s.

  • @dukenukem1990 You are right about the 70's being the time that they formed. But I also remember these bands doing the bulk of their good work in the early eighties. 80,81,82,83

  • COME AS YOU ARE ASS YOU WEREEEEE

  • love how people are having nostalgia fits for the eighties, all over a song that's negative about living in the eighties.

I love his song, but i'm glad i don't live in the eighties

  • @Zemaphore The only thing that sucks more than the 80's are the 2000's.

  • haha come as u r.. jeeze. but there was another band who came out with this same intro before killing joke.. i can't remember the name.. God .. but hey everyone bytes off others nothing wrong with that... people forget fast.. can't blame someone for using another persons intellectual property if nobody notices... haha and Smell like teen Spirit.. tell me just tell me that didn't come from Boston's more than a feeling? but hey I love Nirvana they were the best.. every song was a hit in my opinion

  • @mrdqbable The Damned, 1982's "Strawberries", I could care less about how they sound, lol

  • @TheDudeAbides281 I will have to look them up Lebowski, I never heard of them.. Hahah the Dude ABides.. I like that name though

  • great stuff one of the best and still are ,nirvana sob of you talentless plastic usa crap

  • Reagan started it all, now we have to suffer.........

  • COME AS YOU ARE

  • at least no one is accusing Killing Joke of ripping off Nirvana

  • Reminds me of the Upper East Side of New York. This music defined the 80's and is classic and brilliant.

  • i dont want to hear about no damn veterans. america is fucked up for causing wars. i feel so bad for the troops and there families. young men getting murdered for stupidity. it 2012 and bullshit still goes on. damn shameeeeeeeeeee

  • not the same............ different riff, different bass, different drum, use your ears!!!!!!!!! and the most important ......different sounddddddddddddd

  • @felstation1 are you serious? same key, same speed, very simular riff, simular sound. Kurt Cobain even admitted the simularity.

  • @surrealIdeal same key same speed (many many songs too)....... and the rest like you say is simular, so not the same, Small things make a difference.......anyway is one of my least favorite songs of Nirvana, that is my opinion

  • @felstation1 the fact that Cobain knew it was influenced by this song says enough for me. still, I like Nirvana.

  • This fucking storms. Come as you are is great too. I'm by no means a biographer of Nirvana but i think the similiarites may have been a happy coinscidence.

  • fuck these advertisements, but it's definately worth the wait

  • I'M living in the eighties, music wise, and everything else.

  • Who cares if Nirvana ripped off this song? All songs come from other songs, don't get pissed because this time it's obvious.

  • @iangarnettify

Not every song comes from other songs. You should listen to more music.

  • @exedeath You will be hard pressed to find one piece of art that is not inspired by something else. you need to listen to more music.

  • what a great song that ENDED the new wave geyness

  • Life Goes On -> Eighties -> Come As You Are.

  • @derek96720 I think kurt would've been influenced by the Dammed! more so than killing joke!

  • Comment removed

  • kurt didnt even ask killing joke if he could sample there riff. they deserved to get sued. come as you are is my fave nirvana song

  • @royalnaz1 Says the guy who likes Nirvana's MOST KNOWN SONG.. Probably don't even know any of their other stuff hah

  • @royalnaz1 Killing joke didnt ask the Dammed if they could use it either! Have a listen to a song called life goes on!

  • at wyatts party, before the goons crash in.

  • i think i heard this on weird science.

  • Jaz is so handsome in this video.

  • Comment removed

  • @bluejay55118 From Wikipedia: "Killing Joke also sued Nirvana during this phase, alleging that the riff for the latter's song "Come as You Are" was copied from the riff for their song "Eighties. The lawsuit was dropped after the sudden death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain." Who needs research?

  • Comment removed

  • @bluejay55118 Ok man, but tell us, why are you so sure about it? I mean, yeah, wikipedia has a lot of mistakes,I suppose, but is a source and say that. You say that they are wrong, ok. What is your source? Thanks.

  • Fucking solid!!!!

  • There is no copyright in an idea! even if there we're then nirvana we're successful in doing what these guys couldn't do with this riff and making a good record that people wanted to listen to! i'm not slating them but just u know...........nirvana are the 2nd biggest band in history!!

  • @Nevo244 nirvana is overrated.

  • @YouGotWoodRolled I Suppose the beatles we're too then!

  • @Nevo244 Are you seriously comparing Nirvana to The Beatles?

  • @YouGotWoodRolled Overrated is not a legitimate evaluative term to describe music. So they would be underrated if they were less popular? Would that make them good then? You act like overrated means they didn't damn near changed the music scene as much as the Beatles.

  • @iangarnettify I can make the case that Nirvana weren't really that influential, musically-speaking. They became a cult of personality but without any artistic importance. They did spawn some wannabe grunge bands but none of them ended up being any good. The indie bands of the 80's (on labels such as Touch and Go, Merge, AmRep) have done way more to influence the current pool of rock musicians. The Beatles are still cited everyday by musicians as a direct influence. Nirvana? Not so much.

  • @YouGotWoodRolled There are a good number of bands directly influenced by Nirvana. The only one I can think of was the vines, but Nirvana took the eighties style of rock and transformed it into something completely new, making it much harder. Nevermind itself was one of the biggest forces that destroyed hair metal, and brought the definition of hard and loud to a whole new level

  • @YouGotWoodRolled artistically nirvana influnced or inspired a lot of people. old and new. and not just crap, but good bands too. queens of the stonage, arcade fire, fleet foxes, yeah yeah yeahs, and neil young to name a few. nirvana having no artistic importance is just stupid.

  • @roejogan8 FALSE. Ask Josh Homme what his Top 20 musical influences are and Niravana is nowhere to be found. Arcade Fire has never been MUSICIALLY influenced by Nirvana..they just said that they liked them when they were growing up...not the same as a MUSICAL INFLUENCE. Fleet Foxes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Neil Young??? Seriously, these are only people who praised Nirvana as a band. Not the same as INFLUENCE. The only bands who were MUSICALLY INFLUENCED...the vines and puddle of mudd.

  • We seem to live in this upside-down world where critical acclaim and praise is mistaken for INFLUENCE.

  • @YouGotWoodRolled or INSPIRED. you don't have to sound exactly like an artist. nirvana were into plenty of bands they didn't sound exacty like. all great artists have have their own thing going on to some degree. and no it's not false. josh has said plenty about how great nirvana is. arcade fire still love nirvana. it wasn't just while they were growing up.

  • @YouGotWoodRolled no need to ask Josh Homme what his Top 20 musical influences.Ask me my answer is Nirvana.

  • I got a 13 minute ad WHAT THE FUCK

  • @WachaDrop 13 minute ad? Fuck...Youtube is becoming television.

  • Killing Joke & Nirvana rule. What 's the problem ?

  • @skateboarding4114 Why would some people come up with a sweeping statement saying that Killing Joke rip off Nirvana if this song came out in 1984/1985?

  • @Supersweetguy There are dumb people everywhere

  • 23 people are mad

  • however, Eighties & Come as you are rockssssssssss!!!!!!

  • All artists copy. Great artists steal.

  • It's called sampling you fucking cunts.

  • NIRVANA

  • It is pretty similar but the beauty of the Nirvana song is the melody, which is just fucking gorgeous

  • Ah, Killing Joke. Damned to obscurity so Nirvana and a myriad of other bands could be famous.

  • @TheWickerMan1971 So if that would be the case, how could SOAD, Godsmack etc would have been born without them? Whatever you say, they are still the fathers of Modern Industrial Metal Rock.

  • @TheWickerMan1971 Obscurity!? No way. Jaz and friends will live FORVEVER!

  • 'Rip Off' or 'Homage'?

  • wow. saw this video only once back in the 80s. but never forgot it all these years. so powerful. glad to find it again. wish videos/music were more like this today

  • Comment removed

  • One of the best videos EVER!

  • The eighties literally are comming again, today society is very similar with the 80's society in a politic and social way, and it will be worst.

  • @Sorefame83 Too bad the music won't be as good haha

  • @Sorefame83 I would say more like the late seventies right now (ecnomically and socially), and I think the eighties will be back soon...can't wait!

  • I'm just happy I've got three great songs to listen too out of one riff.

  • eighties as you are

  • Killing Joke ripped off "Life Goes On" by The Damned.

Nirvana ripped off "Eighties" by Killing Joke.

    Epic

  • First of all, yes Come As You Are sounds a lot like this, but it's not because Nirvana ripped it off. Kurt was a fan of Killing Joke and was somewhat inspired. You know when you listen to your favourite songs and then start writing your own music and it ironically sounds like the band you were listening to? Well Kurt figured that out afterwards when he heard it. He didn't even want to release it because of that. So don't say you've lost a ton of respect for Nirvana when you don't know the story.

  • @MizzCrazieMindfreak No. It was ripped off, you can get sued for having riffs this similar buddy.

  • @MizzCrazieMindfreak That's not irony.

  • @MizzCrazieMindfreak You literally made ALL of that shit up.

  • @mobilesuitZer0 I have read from sources and it's friggin logic.

  • @MizzCrazieMindfreak You made ALL of that bullshit up. Admit it.

  • @mobilesuitZer0 Why would I make up logic? And also information read from different places. Stop trollin'. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but 6 people tend to agree with me.

  • @MizzCrazieMindfreak Actually if Kurt was a "big fan" then surely it would make it much more likely that he'd realise that such "inspiration" had happened? some random track from the radio having such an effect I can understand but if its something you know well you'd recongise what had happened.

  • @MizzCrazieMindfreak Thanks for clearing that up for me man. I was really worried about how it sounded so alike to each other. Im glad you do your research friend =)

  • I had this Song ringing in my Brain for months now, until I Finally recalled it all the way back to the fuckin Eighties when i First heard It. back in the days it was hard to get a copy, cause there was no singles around or mostly no money on my teen budget

  • This is music Enjoy again, again and again

  • i lost a ton of respect for nirvana when I found out they ripped off this song.

  • @darucevac I wouldn't say they exactly ripped off this song. they took a riff and made it their own and interpreted it in their own style, Surely that constitutes as musical influence more than ripping off?

  • @darucevac So? This band ripped of this song by "The Damned".

    Get your facts right

  • @fogoquechato13 Ripping off another band was a very Eighties thing to do... what was Kurt's excuse?

I suppose "good riff" would be sufficient as an answer.

  • @darucevac c'mon what did they rip off? one riff?

  • Come as you are is better, and is inspirated by this ^^

  • Oh god it's even got the chorus effect on it too :(

  • @CoRRupT3dS3nSeS94 Yeah, I know, it's disappointing. I never thought Killing Joke would rip off "Life Goes On" by The Damned.

  • @TheZombieJC This is music. If Killing Joke ripped The Dam's music, then let The Dam do something about it. Why should it be a big deal to you? Just enjoy the music.

  • @Supersweetguy I'm noting the same thing you are. The Damned likely weren't the first people to use this riff.

  • @zweena you dont even have a valid argument. so, just shut the fuck up.

  • Before bitching, know your facts: Killing Joke/Nirvana actually "ripped off" Life Goes On by The Damned.

And if it's ripped off, who cares? All the three songs are amazing and brilliant.

  • @LionsToTheChristians Actually, they all ripped off blues musicians.

  • come as you are.. NIRVANA, isn't it?

  • The riffs, the hooks... These guys are geniuses. Who will replace these masterminds when they are long gone???

  • COME AS YOU ARE!!!!

  • KILLING JOKE! KICKS ASS!

  • nirvana??

  • @BooMudd No, this is Killing Joke.

  • @Supersweetguy yes i no this but it sounds like nirvana have skanked it.

  • both great songs

  • @primaryspiral Yeah thanks to a certain website tellling who sampled I discovered this song because I only knew Nirvana-Come As You Are!!!!!!!

  • Nirvana's grand ploy to plagiarize and destroy this song.

  • I'm so angry that the Killing Joke stole a 1992 Nirvana riff in 1985. How dare they use time travel in such a dishonest fashion!

  • @TruculentSheep I'm so angry that The Damned stole a 1984 Killing Joke riff in 1982. How dare they use time travel in such a dishonest fashion!

  • @TruculentSheep First of all,Nirvana realeased Come As You Are in 1991,and Nirvana didn't rip off nobady,if we take as that,I could say that this band Killing Joke ripped off The Damned.I love all 3 songs, and I don't have a problem with Killing Joke, only with the hardcore fans and Nirvana haters, and at the end of all,I should tell you that you suck ass!

  • @zveena Oh, and Nirvana ripped off the Melvins too.

  • @TruculentSheep Kurt,Krist,Dave they were all friends with the Melvins, they had connections, give one exemple of a song that Nirvana ripped of from The Melvins

  • @zveena Most of them? Arguably, the 'alt rock revolution' began with the Melvins, not to mention an obscure outfit called The Pixies...

  • @TruculentSheep ok then, what's your problem with Nirvana?

  • @zveena Who said I had a problem with them? I was just pointing out that they rather shamelessly nicked a Killing Joke riff.

  • @zveena I don't. Just pointing out something often overlooked or ignored.

  • @zveena Wow, one of the great mass debaters of his time...

  • @TruculentSheep Lol, if ever Nirvana stole off a riff from a 1985 song from Killing Joke.

  • @TruculentSheep

    Shut up, stupid.

  • @AlitRama Oh such sparkling repartee!

  • @TruculentSheep

How love have you waited to use that line?

  • @AlitRama Was that English? Or strange oaf-speak?

  • @TruculentSheep

I really hope you're under 18. That way there's a chance you can grow out of that pretentious attitude.

  • @AlitRama Oh diddums...

  • @TruculentSheep FYI, before you make a statement. Killing Joke was formed in 1978/1979. This song was released in 1984/1985. How could Killing Joke ripoff Nirvana? Before making such a statement, make a thorough research.

  • @Supersweetguy You do know that 'Nevermind' came out in 1991?

  • @TruculentSheep I know that Nevermind came out in 1991, so why would Killing Joke rip off Nirvana's come as you are if this song came out in 1984/1985? You tell me?

  • @Supersweetguy Time travel. Technically speaking, Dave Grohl is his own grandmother.

  • @Supersweetguy

They dont know this band. Also some problably think "nirvana is so fucking good, so this means that this band ripped off killing joke, because they wouldnt need to rip off another band".

  • @Supersweetguy Re-read @TruculentSheep 's comment. Forget research, I think you need to read things through before you jump to a conclusion... :D

  • Actually this song sampled a song called Life Goes On by the Damned!!!!!

  • and i swear that i don't have a gun... no i don't have a gun..... oops wrong song

  • The exceptional song of the overkill, overspend, and over indulge 80's.

  • Fuck me that's good!

  • Deserves more views. Cool song.

  • JZDeL @ 3:09!

  • Oh dear, I'm stuck in the 80's. Love this though! Killing Joke - the bees knees!

  • @Bewechan is your mom a slut?

  • Come As You Are
