  • Healthcare for everyone, even if you are not rich does not only serve democratic purposes. healthy workforces are a key issue in progress and a healthy market. The only reason not to grant people equal rights to health is conservative in nature.

  • The fight to improve/expand health care has been going on for almost a century and I fear that it will be another century before comprehensive reform is enacted, so I support the Dems moving forward on this, with or without the other party.

  • Thoughtful response and appreciated and yes the American people DO want this to get done notwithstanding the fringe elements who think by yelling loud they have support. Also, please return the filibuster rule to its form. Make them read phone books! No more rolling over to the Repubs that want to stop everything!

  • Americans must act now, the health care reform should be pass. if this bill did not pass in the next 5 years after, the global economy will pass out and the new system will be brought out, currency will change. In the next 10 years ahead level of diseases will increase because of the overwhelming climate changes and green system should begin immediately. to those middle classes who could now afford medical expenses will suffer if this bill does not pass. Tax payers deserve proper healthcare.

  • Whatever it takes! Pass it. Ram it through reconciliation. It's a disgrace that we Americans allow tens of thousands of people die every year. Do something right by the American people.

  • Healthcare should be a right? This means that others are obliged to provide that care. Why do believe it is acceptable that people are entitled to the products and services of others because they need them? You are deliberately weaseling around the issue by saying "Americans should be able to get care (paid for or not)", omitting the fact that American doctors and insurers are a subset of Americans. I will state your omittion: "Americans should provide care (paid for or not)".

  • Boo!! People can go to the hospital any day and get health care because hospitals can't refuse service. If they cannot pay for their own health care it is not the responsibility for the government do everything for them and pay all their bills. Americans don't want greater national debt and spending more money doesn't help!

  • I think that he hit dead on about alot of issues that are holding back health . =care reform from being passed as soon as possible. He was right when he brought up the social secrurity act . I for one would love the see the health-care reform bill be passed

  • Keep up the fight. The American people need you. Please tell the party to stop caring about the threat of their job and stop serving the interest of big corporations and selling that off as personal freedom.

It blows me away how Republicans can vote to spend trillions of dollars to bail out banks and war and then penny pinch when it comes into investing in ourselves. We can't keep struggling with this issue. It is time to move passed this. -Publius

  • Thank you reid for speaking to us the US citizen and not big profit insurance company.

  • Very good information....

But still some people will only see or hear what they want....

  • You will not mandate me to sign up for anything no matter what you do or say.

  • We need health care reform now. Let the hawks pluck in frustration, we need health care reformed now.

  • Right on. Get reform passed! Do whatever it takes. The Republicans want to participate....as long as you do only the stuff they wanna do and nothing else. Screw 'em! You've got 59 votes in the Senate. Make it happen!

  • The US does need healthcare reform, but Obama is going about it all wrong. 1st you need to stop the abuse and waste in medicare, there's too much waste that you need to cut out before you start a new one.

The best start would be to stop malpractice lawsuits. If anything make medicare available to anyone who isn't covered or offer tax incentives for ins. companies that take on "high risk" clients so they can keep costs down and end the " pre-existing condition " problem

  • We are behind you, and we hope that Dems. will forge ahead with the healthcare reform. We are hoping that you don't resort to a scaled back version, and that you provide healthcare for even those that can not afford to pay anything for it. I agree, healthcare should be a right.

  • Great Speaker unlike Mr. Boner. It's crazy when you are actually educated about an issue like Reid., He makes sense. Keep fighting Sen. Reid

  • I, as well as hunderds of other people I've talked with, do hope that the Dems. Forge ahead with the healthcare reform. We do hope that it is not scaled back and that the reform includes medical coverage for those that can not afford to pay anything. I certainly think healthcare should be a right. Do the right thin for us, the American people, and pass this bill. The only people against it is the Rep. supporters, and they will soon change their minds when Ins. companies increases their rates.

  • Start over again.

  • God bless you reid

    an Mr,Obama

  • Keep up the fight Sen. Reid!! We all already know that the GOP will continue to stand against this legeslation regardless of how much it will help out the millions of Americans without health care, and the millions more of us that are tired of being subject to the policies of insurance companies and their lobyists who control the right-wing argument on healthcare reform. Once this stuff passes the same people standing so passionatly against it will be reaping its benefits and loving it...

  • Thank you, Thank you Senator Reid. Please keep up the good work. We need help in this country. I am so glad you are helping the little person. I was so proud to be an American yesterday when I saw you and the president on television. Speaking so forceful on the need for health insurance reform for all Americans.

    Thank you and God Bless.

  • @hubiesemos Yes...Go Reid go!

  • Reid seems like a soft-spoken gentlemanly fellow, not like those Republican scabs who were running things like Tom DeLay.

  • Health care is a right--really Harry? Who gives the right to us? According to our founders, our unalienable rights include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The U.S. government does NOT give us rights. According to the founders of this nation, people are "endowed by their Creator" with these rights, one of which was not health care. So Harry, a question--who gives people the right to health care? If you can answer that, which you can't, I'll begin to listen to you.

  • You're asking the insurance companies to make their product more affordable for everyone and allow people from one state to purchase insurance from another state. Thats fine but the mandating seems like a compensation for the companies for any losses those billion dollar companies profiteering from keeping people medicated and believing that taking a pill for every discomfort or abnormality is healthy.

  • I am happy to say that my wife and I have no health insurance. We live in Nevada and we are 60 years old. The insurance companies and their lobbyists and the greedy politicians are the ones ruining our society.

  • here is my question. why are the republicans playing games with our lives? why can't you guys stop arguing and work it out. the losers are the american public. tell the republicans to get a grip in reality

  • I don't have health insurance for my family and myself. I would have insurance but I don't because I DON'T HAVE A JOB!!! I have been with out a job and insurance for a year now. I think it is more important to get this crappy economy going then passing a new entitlement program that will only add to the deficit and raise taxes. I NEED A JOB!!! We are wathing and we are voting!

  • Put in the Public Option

  • Thank you Senator Reid...God bless you.

  • Go Reid!

  • You can not and should not try to pass legislation that is not Contitutional. The Federal Government can not mandate me to buy anything. Dump the Bill!

And, as you well know, no one is turned down if they go to the emergency room, so stop the lie.

  • LOOK AT THE POLLS, dude! go for public option!!

  • Go Reid go!!!

  • Reid is rather weak in rhetoric, but I think his points here are valid. I just hope democratic leaders were able to muster the charisma to speak with boldness and certainty. Also, please show the questions in their entirety, however bad they might have been.

  • health care reform doesn't need an overhaul of the entire system... if actions were taken on the points dems & rep agree on this would be a hughly successful reform... congress could really be proud of the work & America could live with the results.. a 2700 page overhaul is an over kill America can't live with...

  • Dear Senator Reid:

I applaud your tough stance at the healthcare summit yesterday.

I speak for many people that I know when I say that if the Republicans continue to offer no help we see no problem with the use of reconciliation.

The Democrats were elected for a reason--hopefully we will see some result of that.

  • thank you Sen. Reid for all the hard work and effort that you do your colleagues have put forth to pass a comprehensive health-care bill of which all Americans can be proud. Please do not be dissuaded from your task. Thank you!
