*Slow motion departing of the falling guy's hands and one holding on*

    "BOBBY!!!!!!!"

  • @skimmy6 I guess I should've said "This is why I don't like RACING boats," because that would probably be closer to my opinion.

  • @XxXrEtRyXxX That's what I figured. My post reads far more confrontational than it was intended, My apologies to Tommy.

I stand by my point that the comment isn't good logic. If the statement had been something like "I've always been afraid to be on a boat that capsizes" or somesuch, fair enough.

For reference, here's a couple of boats that right themselves:

  • The music somehow reminds me of pokemon

  • oh!

  • timmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmber!

  • that looks so fun!

  • that would actually be so fun, but in a, 'the scariest moment in your life' kind of way.

  • Did the guy fall thru and make a hole? o.O

  • @16Aaren yeh he did :L

  • Op it luvs that's Mustang Larry & the maniacs from Oracle. Allegedly he like's the heat if you do or not. Them that can do them that can't pontificate. Ref Wikipedia or

SF Chronicle Sunday May 1, 2011 page 1 lower left. Google "In boardroom or at sea, he plays hardball". SF & USA needs bucks should we win.

  • epic music

  • the hole in the sail, is actually the guy falling through it lol!!

  • That's what you get for not putting a proper keel on the thing!

  • i like the part when the boat flipped over!

  • they should back home after this and play Ps3

  • soundtrack compliments of akira jimbo?

  • Secret technique Koala Bear Cling!!!

  • Capsize it's no problem. Too little speed, becouse prow is going down, that's a problem.

  • its like the start of a mario party mini game :D

  • team work....

  • fumblemoooooooooooooooooore!!!!!

  • @Ab5597 Lol, nice Yogscast reference.

  • he'll be climbing buoys mutherfucker

  • they must have had leeroy jankins with them

  • You'll never know where the edges of the envelope are if you aren't willing to stray over them from time to time.

  • The guy that went through the sail, by luck, probably went through the safest place possible. I'll bet he got a sore neck though.

  • Did the ocean died?

  • they were trying to do the first sailboat front flip duh

  • #FTW

  • That's in San Francisco. In the bay. It

  • 80 s now!!

  • you should have asked oracle..

  • yay for sports

  • crazy~~

  • @sheslikesme yes they do, and they'll send waterside assistance too

  • What a piece of junk that sail is.

  • Did it died?

  • at least they wouldnt be able to easily tell if they shit themselves

  • You're doing it wrong.

  • Haha! Thumbs up for the guys that stayed on! LOL

  • Too much sail mounted on too little boat.

  • This man really said Guam could capsize.

  • No more trusting in oracle Data Bases!

  • This happens regularly on our catamaran when its really windy and you're new to it. It becomes not such a big deal. When the mast is completely underwater, its more challenging. Its not ideal but its kinda fun.

  • I see a sail, but wheres the boat?

  • this video is none sense

  • Ok guys, lets make our 20 lbs raft have a 60 foot sail that wieghs more than the raft istself, and the raft isn't going to be deeper than 6 inches in water, and lets go out on a super windy day... SMART...

  • @NickIsOriginal exactly what I was thinking

  • @NickIsOriginal It' not supposed to be smart, it's supposed to make you have fun!

  • The Oracle has spoken .

  • what if jaws come

  • Whats up with the porn music?

  • where is this location?

  • lol at the mission in possible antics!

  • @viralteacup impossible* hero

  • @tacosminge dam those embarrassing typos!

  • ಠ_ಠ

  • someone hit the brake pedal to hard

  • fuck yeah! When people tell me sailing isn't a sport i just point them to videos like this.

  • Is it wrong that i laughed at the guy falling?

  • could have been a nice shark's snack

  • Wind Win!

  • Good. I hope the ocean swallowed them.

  • anyone notice that the guy falling through the sail caused the rip?

  • @Wedz21 good call

  • and this is why i hate sailing

  • am i the only one whos wondering why theres a porn music rolling?

  • The rip is coz one of the crew fell through it! awesome!

  • is that classified as a hobbie cat? or just a pontoon craft, whatever it is i want one.

  • Thomas Crown Affair... anyone?

  • This is precisely why I don't like boats. Also, I couldn't help but laugh when he said "There's a little rip there," I think that a rip in the sail is the least of your problems right now.

  • @DeloreandudeTommy This is actually something that happens all the time, especially in smaller sailboats. This is kinda why they were more concerned with the race (the ripped sail) than capsizing.

  • @DeloreandudeTommy i wouldn't even count that as a boat, i would wanna go on a cruise ship but not on that....

  • @DeloreandudeTommy Making the boat upright isn't the issue, the issue is the cost of that $3,000 sail, which can't ever be used again because it's ripped unless for practice which they wouldn't use anyways because I bet these guys are pro's.

Sailing is awesome if you know how to handle a boat.

It's like the same thing as F1 drivers, just got to know how to drive the thing and it's all easy from there.

  • @DeloreandudeTommy Except for the fact that that sail is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars...

  • @DeloreandudeTommy realistically, the rip was their only major problem. After they righted the boat, they would be ready to keep sailing.

  • @DeloreandudeTommy Do you dislike cars as well? (yes, the rip was their biggest problem)

  • @dinoalberini No, actually I love cars. I'm actually working on a racing game right now. The only cars that I know of that will suddenly flip over are LMP (LeMans Prototype) cars, which will actually go flying in the air in an air pocket builds up under them.

  • @DeloreandudeTommy This is *PRECISELY* why you don't like boats?

That's like saying a FormulaOne car crashing is why you don't like cars, man. There's is a BIG difference between this cat/ the conditions it's being sailed in/ the manner in which it's being sailed, and a rowboat on a lake or a fishing boat, etc.

    Overgeneralise much?

  • Where is this?

  • Where is this?

  • @DeloreandudeTommy When the sail costs around 50 000 its a bit of a problem:p

  • fake

  • @NVEddyV why would you even say that?

  • @TTGJORDAN1 As do I sir... as do I...

  • @TTGJORDAN1 Not this time sir.

  • @xIsteelerIx :(

  • @TTGJORDAN1 I guess I was wrong lol

  • @TTGJORDAN1 YOU GOT IT!

  • @TTGJORDAN1 you got top lol

  • @xTYx728 ;D

  • WEEEEEEE'LLLL, STAAAYYYY, FOREEVVEERRR THIS WAAAYYY~

  • COURSE OF THE ORACLES

  • ((( WoW ExTreMe See Jump Tecnologie ))) ...hope nobody was hurt

  • i bet the 2 people that disliked it are the ones that fell off lol

  • i bet you the 2 people who disliked this video are not sailors...

  • *Cleveland Brown from Family Guy*

NO NO NO NO NO NOOO!!!

  • Wait, that's not supposed to happen?

  • Nothings free in water world.

  • hang on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • that happened to me you can fall into cables or hit the boat, i was with annidiot wh otried to sale it in 60 miles an hour wind the cables were humming until we flipped over

  • "a little rip"? That's the size of a Japanese family's apartment

  • WATCH "The Shovel (Shovel Wakeboarding)" ITS NEW AND COOL!!!

  • I could find better things to do with my money instead of stupid shit like that. My opinion....

  • Wow. My Knarr never did that and it only cost me 25k lol. Although I like the traditional monohull AC Racing, I have to admit these race cars will be fun to watch and bring in more non sailors to love the sport.

  • did anyone notice the guy fall right through the wing! that's what made the hole. a person. lucky for all involved the dude hit the ribs and not the leading edge.

  • @nickflutter Haha nicely spotted, so he did

  • These guys are learning the tricks to sailing on SF Bay. Things happen quickly out there!

  • In pacific boats prow goes up.

  • is anyone listening to the music? i can hear groaning

  • if this is an australian boat, atleast it didnt snap in half and sink

  • They must to learn construction of catamaran from polynesia people.

  • CAPSIZE..DOES THAT MEAN EVERYONE'S TALKING IN BIG LETTERS?

  • Lol that's Australia's boat. I think Russel Crowe owns it (Gladiator actor) his boat. Haha.

  • Thank goodness this was a practice sail leading to America's Cup racing the fastest boats in the world. This is why racing is fun!

  • AWESOME

  • lame

  • dislocated rib cartilage. yummmm, dislocated rib cartilage

  • What are you doing to the America's Cup?

  • Ouch....there were two sides to that sail and both of them hurt equally.

  • I want to know more about the righting technique.

    It looks like:

They attach the line to the leeward bow and putt the boat into the wind, the mainsail is travelled down, just a bit to leeward, and sheeted in tight.

The wing is so rigid, that its easy to get pressure on the leeward side. (I'm surprised they didnt pull the jib in tight as well) and the mast doesn't sink, because theres so much buoyancy in the wing.

as they pull the boat into the wind, it pops right up.

    Is this right?

  • @sailphi yep thats exactly right, good spotting on the wing being boyant part.....oh wait...thats right...i just remembered i know absolutely nothing about sailing, so i really have no idea what your even talking about, let alone whether your right or not...so why did i bother commenting....you just seem a little show offish...but that could be the jelous ramblings of someone who knows nothing of sailing.

  • @soudenm84 That was...unnecessary o.o

  • A too little displacement of prow is a waste for speed.

  • Ooops =)

  • Don't f... with the s.f. bay!

  • Comment removed

  • this is what happens if you chose Oracle, you need someone to pull you out of the rough sea

  • Guess the ground crews are getting good at those wing repairs. They should have a new one popped out by tomorrow :P

  • pretty wild.

I love that Ellison supports the sport so vigorously. I just wish he wasn't such a rectal pore.

  • @wel51 ROFL!!! RECTAL PORE!!!! ZOMGGGG i'ma use that from now on!

  • This kind of sailing is bound to attract crowds. Which is good X-)

  • Ai yi yi!

  • Oh my gosh! The guy fell through the wing!

  • WOHOOOOO!!!

  • No coming back this time! Surprisingly not to much damage and live to sail another day. Can't wait for the World Series in windy Cascais...

  • I'll bet even with the blown main wing sail, she still planed all the way back to the dock. I guess you can't get all the crew on the windward pontoon and stand on the dagger board and heave -ho? It's going to be one hell of a AC when the 70 footers take off. Kind of like NASCAR carnage on the water.

  • Full Monty...
