  • he said he starts light and gets heavier and he also mentions he pyramids up, surely that would mean getting lighter as pyramids get narrower as you go up?

  • @MO7dt pyramid is usually used to go heavier each set. It's not like a "real" pyramid.

  • Deadlifts...Real Gangsta shit!!

I'm doing 415 right now working up to my goal of 500lbs...

  • Oh shit... Tyrone Thug Nasty Biggums is real!

  • never deadlift in diapers

  • real good exercise

  • i miss deadlifts. stupid hamstring tear

ill be back to take on the iron beast .. cant bloody wait!

  • I love deadlifting i'm in 9th grade and im maxed out at 300.Is that good?

  • @WAFFENMAFIA No thats just bad, any 9th grader deadlifts at least 350 and most deadlift 500... get a clue with thouse "is that good questions" its obvoiuse its internet trolling ot bragning its one of them, you obviously know if you are really 14-15 that most kids dont even deadlift and not 300 pound (most)

  • @muzimuzi No.The seniors in my weightlifting class don't even do 350.

  • @WAFFENMAFIA well then if you know the answer then why do u ask?

  • @muzimuzi 1)No.2)It's been 3 months and I now max out at 490.

  • @WAFFENMAFIA thats great... post a vid...

  • @WAFFENMAFIA start with partials and when you go at least by 500 x 5 get back to floored deadlifts and see how that goes!

  • This shit should be recorded in slow motion. Great bodybuilder.

  • The best bodybuilders understand the need for powerlifting lifts.

  • never see body builders do pushups...these fuckers so study up on bobby pandour! :P

  • @K:Pandour's gymnastics were light-years beyond pushups. The problem with working out like Pandour, especially for big guys, (he was 5'6" tops), is that most of us aren't strong enough to even get started! The great virtue of weights is that no matter how big, small, weak, or strong you are, you CAN find a weight to work with effectively.

  • 5x5 workout nice !

  • @e1g3r Well said!

  • i passed out doing deadlifts today lol

  • is that chalk on his hands?

  • @thejimmyreedy yup, helps improve grip apparently or something like that, i never use it, feels weird to me haha feels like im not gripping the bar

  • He did 3 reps at the end, not 5

  • @MetaIhead89 niggers can't count

  • Deadlifts are what seperates the men from the boys! >=)

  • Very, very bad video. Really.

  • deadlifts are the real MAN's exercise !.

  • im 13 only and my max dead is 616lbs raw with perfect form AND stance and steriod-free as always!

Check my channel to learn more on the dangers of steriods nad such.... :P

  • @13andincrediblycut

    Lyin' sac of shit!!!!

  • 5 reps 5 sets, thats a good way to workout. helps build endurance and mass. im only up to 3 sets of 5 on my deadlifts because they are intense. i hope to make it up to 5x5 someday

  • @CharlieL225 lol thats weak

  • @ProstigeWorldwide your response was pretty weak actually.

  • @CharlieL225 no the fact that you cant do five sets of five is weak. and it wasn't a response cuz you dint say anything to me yet now this is a response. anybody can do 5x5 just do less weight. LMAO rookie

  • @ProstigeWorldwide maybe you do less weight so you dont hurt your vag, but i'll stick to my max weight tyvm.

  • i started deadlifting after watching this video a year ago iam up to 455 go to crazylo1973 i love deadlifting johnnie jackson is awesome

  • @CRAZYLO1973 good job man

  • so god damn bulky that it's grotesque. but yea, great exercise:P

  • fk bench, deadlifts the best strength test

  • i think johnnie jackson got nice proportions

  • @WMUPBCITY how his dick taste

  • Johnnie mad respect but muscletech sucks so much, whey is the way to go.

  • What a fucking Unit :)

  • Great video.

  • steroids anyone??......

  • dude is shreded

  • Dead lifts are the shit. Over the past 3 months i've been doing it, its become my favorite exercise.

  • isnt it true that the belt can be a false sense of security? and if Im looking to get cut up but also want to put on alittle size how can i pull it off?

  • No, a belt helps prevent you from back injury.

And if you are looking to cut up AND gain size, you have to have an absolutely stellar diet.

  • hey look i dont know the anwers to these questions but i work out with him so just ask and ill try to answer

  • im not makin a smart ass comment... but why does he lean back at the top i was told not to but he looks like he knows what hes doin. does it add extra stress or...

  • pros can do it i'd say its not bad

  • because it works the lower back lol who told you not to lean back like that... i think youre supposed to arch your back like that lol someone told you wrong man

  • Hyperextension of the back under any load (deads, squats, cleans) is directly unhealthy for your back. Your spine is built for stability, not mobility. By leaning back your lumbar spine gets in a very unnatural position which combined with the heavy load is idiotically dangerous both when it comes to short- and long-term injuries.

I'm not saying it'll cripple you; merely that you're putting your back health in danger without actually gaining anything (bar doesn't move at all).

  • @H:Lumbar hyperextension's a common term for what's actually merely -full- extension. Aside from that, you're right, but : Such exercises -should- be done with the spine remaining in isometric full extension through the entire movement: Glutes & hams, are much stronger than the small muscles of the spine, so any weight that challenges them will too much for the back, except isometrically. The theoretical ideal of keeping the lumber spine in isometric neutral under such loads is un-doable.

  • @lazur1

There's a big difference between extension and hyperextension. In normal extension the lumbar region is extended and the hips are in slight anterior rotation. In hyperextension the hips severely rotate downwards/anteriorally, causing the lumbar and thoracic spine to take a very unnatural curvature which is everything but healthy.

Disregarding the terminology/different definitions we both agree; the back must be locked in normal extension and the movement comes from the hips.

  • @H:Do we agree but for semantics? Hyperextension's an injury. A simpler, more obvious example: The elbow, depending on how much force caused its hyper-ex, will require at least a short time-out. Tho cumulative effects of oft-repeated low-force hypers will add up to a worse injury, each incident's noticeably painful on its own. If you can hold a heavy DL in finish position without screaming in pain, your back isn't quite hyperextended.

  • For powerlifting you are suppose to pull your shoulders back at the top of the movement, but a lot of people just lean back to try to compensate for that.

  • @knglnds13 to lock out the hips

  • take intravol during workout, from muscletech, its insane!

  • anything from muscletech is a joke

  • does any body know what that white stand that he uses at 55 seconds is called? ive looked everywhere for it on google and ebay.

  • Deadlift jack i think its called, check elitefts

  • i found maximuscle instant whey/mass good.

    but dear....

  • Bataanscene: Really you got to find what works for you. But, you could try BSN: No-Xplode, Cellmass, Syntha-6 and True Mass. They should work well.

  • no xplode is pretty good if u cycle it good the rest didnt really work for me maybe it was just me

  • Just eat like 3000 calories a day. Don't forget to eat enough protein

  • don't have to use belts, I don't use them for training, but I'm going to use one for the squat in a powerlifting meet. I dont like belts on deadlift and they take away some of the workout you get for your core so I woudn't use them much in training.

  • oh hell no.

  • anyone know if have one of those back support belts is necessary?

  • if ur doing real heavyweights then yeah u should get one

  • @blackhawk777 If you repping its not necessary... unless you want weak abs or if your maxing as a safety percaution.. most people use it too often though.. almost like its a fashion accessory.

  • I agree with the dead lift being a true test of strength. I combine them with pull up super sets, and I gotta tell you, its the shit. Try what he is explaining about pyramidical sets of 5 reps, but superset it with pull ups sets in between. You will be swollen up like a mother fucker once you're done.

  • ye sounds brutal i do pullups on deads day but not supersets, u cant beat pullups n dips for functional strenght, they get u bloody strong

  • squat the king?no chance deadlifting involves more muscles and involves the arms and grip in a more functional way,its the truest test of strenght

  • Depends on what your goal is. If you want to build mass and bulk, especially in the lower body, squats are king. If you want to build overall strength, deadlifts are king.

  • ye ill go wif that,i prefer deads but squats a very close second, both awesome exercises

  • D00d, where can I get sum of teh cre8n he yuses?! es it gud 4 teh bulk?

  • thick, strong and powerful!!!powerlifting movements show it in a bodybuilders physique!!!

  • that dudes a fuckin monster!!!

  • yeah I remember seeing him called that in a muscletech add

  • agree!!!

  • haha

  • hahahaha

  • muscletech is of course the foundation of all great bodybuilding diets....LOL

  • Man with the weight he can lift with his legs, wonder why he lacks them in compitition.

  • ahhh its for everything, if u only use ur lower back ur are a fucking dim wit

  • its an overall core exersize, MOSTLY hitting your errectors in your back, as well as your glutes and hams. but it barely puts any tention on your quads.

  • According to Pavel's PTP, it's a good quad builder but it must be done with enough weight to actually force hamstrings and quads to work synergistically.

  • Generally not so much with the stifflegs though. But yes it doesnt build your legs.

  • Yes? It DOESN'T build your legs? What are you saying here?! Deadlifts don't build your legs? ROFL. Ok.... You're out of your mind if you don't think so.

  • I have no idea what your talking about since I cant find my comment I must have left months ago... but obviously they do.. idk what you thought I said.

  • It works your quads as well as a quarter-squat with the same weight would. Deadlifts are great (they're my favorite exercise), but they're definitely no substitute for squats.

  • I always do the stiff leg deadlift and trust me, you'll really feel your hamstrings with it. Not to forget how much you hit your entire back with it too.

  • there is a big difference between johnnies vid and ronnies vid. ronnie used wrist straps and bounced the weight off the floor. johnnie using perfect form and only using wrist 'wraps' made sure the weight was dead.

  • ronnie in no way 'bounced' the weight, check the vid again....

  • Dang I need me some cell tech.

  • I think you guys should get up to 900 pound deads. If you aren't there yet, then why talk about what these other guys are doing? They are both strong bastards. Hahahaha

  • have you ever injured your back from deadlifts?

  • hahahaha u fuckers r a pack of gurus hay

  • Keep in mind jackson only competes at like 225lbs in the olympia. As a powerlifter he has done 815lbs in competition with a deadlift suit. Ronnie uses a deadlift suit also but competes at 285lbs. You do the math?

  • lol doesnt matter who lifts more or who is stronger bodybuilding is about muscle looks and simetry

  • The more you lift the more muscle fibres you can break down and grow :)

Plus, in life, being stronger helps.

  • go do some curls

  • ronnies repped 800 for 2 on the deadlift, in this video we see jounnie do around 700 for a max of 3 reps...so ron is obviously stronger

  • Ronnie is awesome so is Johnnie so I dont think anyone of those two great bodybuilders need to be picked at .. and Jackson is anything but a skinny midget ..think u can do better yourself? ;)

  • God dam control that weight when ending PLEASE

DONT JUST DROP IT .. LITERALLY

  • shut up fag. go workout in curves. i think they have a no drop rule there.

  • intended as a reply to Alfzz.

  • Shut the fuck up

  • Powerlifters drop the weight. It seems to be working for Johnnie, too. If slowly lowering the weight worked better, he'd be doing that.

  • Ron C all the way

  • big ronnie is better

  • lol

  • oohhh i cant wait to read about the ltest training from california

  • Pick up the new issue of Flex magazine. It has his own routine. Inculding weights he uses

  • johnie jack strongest bodybuilder ... pound for pound the strongest bodybuilder .. qoute

  • ron coleman is the strongest overall and probably pound for pound too.

  • not really, Coleman is like 50 pounds heavier than Johnie Jackson....and they can almost deadlift the same weight

  • ron coleman makes jouhnnie jackson look like a skinny midget

  • i believe you were talking bout strength

  • i agree we havent really seen ronnie max out completly

im mean kill him self with a lift you know what i mean

  • That's not proved. JUst advertising

  • comapre his lifts to ronnies and ull see ronnie is stronger

  • Ronnie lifts more but true strength is % of bodyweight lifted not total weight.

eg. if a 200lb guy lifts 400lbs thats 200% of his bw

if a 300lb guy lifts 500lbs thats only 166% of his bw

The second guy lifted more total weight but the first guy is proportionately stronger.
