It's the ages old practice of scapegoating where ignorant tribesmen symbolically put their sins onto a goat and drove it into the desert to die as a sacrifice to gods. Very bizarre.

Preachers are nothing more than cops and lawyers, spiritually. We're employed by God to inform people about their infractions and what the Judge will do and we know what He'll do because we work for Him, we study "case law" and we don't want anyone caught with their pants down. We care about people like a doctor who sees and wants to cure cancer...
