  • Please see Rollin in My Sweet Baby's Arms, AND PAY ATTENTION

  • Don't care how many parts u play at once. It's still only this song.Nothing more, nothing less.Technique and chops are only tools and part of a long end in making music viable for the soul.

  • If you all liked this, check out Doug Smith playing Guy Van Duser's arrangement (which is the one Chet used). All parts...one guitar, and he does a great job on it. Do a youtube search of: "Doug Smith perform Stars & Stripes"....on "jennconducts" channel.

    Rgds,

    Joe Carpenter

  • SMOKEY!!!!

  • love how he hits the toughest progressions with that sly grin

    RIP wildman

  • You Are The Man, WE love ya Jerry !!!!!!

  • rcraigapp, you might not be aware of Jerry Reed's extremely fine and sometimes quite difficult fingerpicking. He wrote many of the songs Chet Atkins and others recorded and are recording still today. He was way more than a decent electric guitarist.

  • @etcjoe Leo Kottke is a far better fingerpicker, as are most classical guitarists.

  • Leo Kottke would be the first to tell you he is nowhere near the musician Reed was.

  • @haunter112 Ah, baloney. Kottke is far superior in every way.

  • Uhhh....Jerry was a decent electric guitarist...but he pales in comparison to the fingerpickers who have played this tune...

  • rcraigrapp: And, let me guess--you also think that Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel are only "decent" as well...

  • @badfinger848 Chet Atkins was pretty good. haven't heard Emmanuel , so I can't comment on him. Reed was competent, but not great.

  • @rcraigrapp

  • @Rynotows I stand by my comments. Reed was competent, but that's the best that can be said about him.

  • Jerry you are missed!

  • That is the most incredible thing I have ever seen! Nobody must have told Jerry that it was impossible to play this song, because altho it is- HE DOES IT! Beautifully. Thank you for posting this video. It's a real treat.

  • I love this song

  • I saw him perform this in Parsons Kansas in 2004. Very well done.

  • I saw Jerry Reed live in 1995 and heard him play this and have been looking for it since. Looks like I overlooked his 2000 album. :(

    Thanks for posting this!!!

  • Nice :)

  • This is wonderful!!!!

  • I met Jerry in 2001 in Metropolis,Il at Harrah's Casino while I was DJ there. One of his band member's gave me a copy of the CD. This is a great redition of an American classic. Thank you once again guys for a wonderful album. Jerry, you still got it!

  • jerry's playing with a pick? say it aint so

  • Yes -- a thumbpick.

  • He frequently used a thumb pick, which is what you see him using here.

  • greastest song in the world.
