I'm a Shawn Johnson advocate. Honest I am. Also, I just lost 70 pounds (much more than Shawn needs to). Honest, I have studied this stuff a lot. Our society is more and more obese and more and more accepting of obesity. Shawn has several pounds that she could lose with NO danger. If she were calipered or DEXA scanned the info would be explicit.
A. This is BOGUS that she needs a trainer and is fat. Any successful person, even very busy, can eat properly and exercise a small amount and at least not be fat. She's FAT.
B. She could still clearly put the hours in the gym and just do some commercials to pay the bills.

I really want her to come back to gymnastics because she was so good and she shouldn't just throw it all away. I remember watching a video about her and her saying "I can't picture myself without gymnastics, it's my life I never want to give it up"

well she just injured herself and had surgery. she's said she doesn't know it she can still come back to gymnastics, chow told her that it will be a lot harder... oh well, let's see what happens in a couple of months. The thing we all know since last year is that she practically prefers living as a celebrity than as gymnast, so...
