Feels like yesterday that I saw this band June of 1974. I remember Dan wearing platforms and sequin pants. Edgar had very long white hair. Great show. Here are the lyrics as best as I can recall.
Sundown, see the magical feelings of the day, at sundown. Chase all my worries away at sundown. Sundown, hear the sky sweet serenade. And our eyes watch the color fade, just after they're made... Sundown... See the day giving way to the night at sundown...Dazing the shade of the night at sundown...
Sundown... calling out to the people below. Calling out getting ready to go. Rushing into the night...Where the world has a silver lining Now the stars are out they're shining. They go to my friend... Come on do it again ... (Repeated) Sundown, see the magical feelings of the day, at sundown...Chase all my worries away at sundown...Sundown
Songs had their personality to them.Nothing was the same.Beiber and the rest of the wanna be's who think their musician but it all comes out of a computer. These guys knew how to play instruments and not just one.
I posted the lyrics in two comments as best as I remember them. Check out this article from their opening Shock Treatment show that I saw in St. Petersburg Florida when I was 14. Unfortunately, they did not play Sundown which is perhaps my favorite.
Type into google: edgar winter bayfront center 1974. The search result says "Blast of Winter Rocks Summer Night. Styx was the unknown warm-up band at the time.
Great time for music, I don't givafuk what the crits say. Who really does? What I loved about that period was the eclectic nature of the albums. The wide range of song. Take shock treatment for exm: Some Kinf Of Animal, Queen Of Myt Dream, then Sundown, Easy Street, Miracle of Love... all the song were different.. Had their own feeling. It wasn't all one groove, either pissed off or emo or whatever.
I know what you mean, mrredbirdfan. Just thought of this song at work today for no particular reason. And here it is. Wev'e been through a lot since1974, huh? :)
I'm sure it's not the popular opinion, but Shock Treatment is my favorite Edgar Winter LP. Amazing sound, songs, playing. Dan Hartman was so good, and Rick Derringer was at the top of his game as well.
This song is awesome! I grew up listening to this album. Shock Treatment is a great album, one that seriously needs to be re-issued on CD. Always one of my faves!
