@jamilghumman depends what you mean by marriage customs; it has no religious connection whatsoever in sikhism and is simply cultural to punjab - usually 'started' by the females on the bride's and groom's side. It was originally just meant to tell the pindh/village a wedding was about to occur - thats where the pots with candles originate from (usually people now stick in leds for safety reasons)
