  • Just Brilliant!

  • Hi MegaRust, many thanks for your comment. This was the first time for me paragliding at Fraserburgh, due to wind direction from the North is fairly rare. Fraserburgh beach faces the North. The wind speed was 15-18mph, towards top end. Your mention of rotor is valid. The key is to stay up and stay out and be mindful of landing options. We are lucky in that there are several coastal sites around Aberdeen which take a variety of wind directions. Good luck with your flying. Best Regards, Duncan.

  • Probably one of the best dune/ridge soaring video's I've watched to date... and I've watched quite a few being new to the sport. Especially interesting to me as I live on the north coast of Cornwall (UK)... a town with a four mile stretch of beach with dunes in St.Ives Bay, very similar to this location in Scotland. I've only managed one flight so far in light conditions but was still a little worried about being pulled over the top of the dunes into rotor. What was the wind mph that day ??

  • This is sweet. Thanks, you have just made me happy. :-)

  • Last time I was up there (for a PBM Photo Shoot).... the weather was perfect for the commercial photos, but (I had a glider with me despite the wind forecast giving less than a 5% chance of flying for the trip) with well over 30kts not even I was taking gliders out of the bag, so I've still to fly this site!
