@JayCummings1 There is no need to give me the historical references for the Kialegee. I am Raprakko Etvlwv (Thlopthlocco Tribal Town) so I do not need any of the references that you googled. I know our history far better than you know your own. And you are wrong about taking over lands that they don't own. They are attempting to lease it from willing fellow Mvskoke citizens whose allotted land it is. Google the Dawes Commission and learn about the genocide behind allotment.
@TheCepane I'm not pretending to suggest that the allotments were in anyway appropriate--they are done and history. As I said, many throughout history have been dealt with poorly and struggle. The issue here is how a specific parcel of land is used and whether the current laws of the multiple nations (USA, Creek, etc.) are being followed--or in my opinion, NOT being followed. I don't have anything against Indians or the Kialegees, I simply disagree with casiNO gaming.
@TheCepane Also, thanks for the pointer to Dawes Commission. I do recall that piece of unfortunate history. Of course I don't know it as you do. I wouldn't expect you to know my heritage as well as I do either. I don't believe this is a matter of who we are, but rather what we want and what the current laws allow and whether they are being followed. I will continue to attempt to keep casiNO gaming out of the area. BA will untimately conceed to rule of law as interpreted today.
Has the parents of Jayson explained to him how the Kialegees came to Oklahoma? How their ancestrial land was stolen from them in the SE? Has anyone told him that he is living on stolen land right now? If not shame on you for using this innocent child like this. Tell him the truth.
@TheCepane Jayson has learned some of the history of the Indians here in Oklahoma, but no, not all. Indians and many other people have struggled through the ages to find places to live. This BA casiNO is an example of the reverse where the Kialegee are attempting to take over lands they don’t own according to present day laws. Here are the relatively few Kialegee specific historical references - (..more will follow in other posts..)
@JayCummings1 URLs don't appear to be postable on this site. (Or at least not by me.) I found a few Kialegee specifics on wikipedia, enotes, and okstate. Kialegee_Tribal_Town, Red_Sticks, Creek_Civil_War, Indian_Territory, Indian_Removal_Act, and KI001. The Kialegee have been a great people moved from place to place under unfortunate circumstances. Now they want to force others to accept a casiNO in BA where it is unwanted by many of us.
And they do care about their community. That is why they are trying to open a business to help support the community. Besides, I didn't hear any whining when they passed the lottery....Oh let me guess, that was different right?
@chvyhtr If casiNOs support the community they are in, the Kialegee should want it near their community instead of putting it here in BA (75+ mi away from themselves).
I don't agree with the lottery, but that isn't the issue we're discussing--win some, lose some.
I would like to suggest that what Jayson and other members of Broken Arrow Citizens Against Neighborhood Gaming is doing is exercizing legal rights, not whining. If you're suggesting that all talk=whining, look in the mirror.
Chastity, friendship? You only cloud the point you are trying to make by mentioning these two. Work ethic, you probably know little to nothing about that, and its almost irrelevant to this conversation as well. as for personal preparedness: how bout preparing your kids for the whole world and not just the sanitized corner you try to keep them shoved in. Someday they will be out in the world and will actually have to make choices for themselves out amongst the society of the real world.
@chvyhtr They were simply mentioned in response to your very specific questions of what might Jayson say about taxes, medical advice, the economy,. . . Your attempt to belittle a young man that was sharing his perspecitve in a respectful manner was the ridiculous statement.
I wholeheartedly encourage being able to live throughout the world--but that doesn't mean you have to agree with all things in the world. I don't have to take drugs to know I don't want to--same for gambling.
You do realize that casinos are all over Oklahoma right? Most are within a close proximity of Schools..Especially in smaller towns. Almost all are close to neighborhoods. BTW you could take some of your own advise. Love is not conditional to your cause only. You should give it to all people equally and unconditionally. Respect isn't for the folks you live next door to only its for Native Americans trying to make a living as well.
@chvyhtr Yes, I do realize that casiNOs exist in many places throughout Oklahoma as well as other states. Their proximity to schools, neighborhoods, etc. should be determined between the parties, not just a one sided demand. At the core of the issue here is that everything is being done so under the table.
I have great respect for Native Americans. I don't have respect for the method of the people and entities conducting business in this instance.

Yes, Jayson is very bright--he has an understanding of the problems of mixing casino gambling, schools, and neighborhoods together.
I don't doubt that the simple family values of respect, work ethic, personal prepardness, chastity, love, friendship, etc. would be good approaches for dealing with taxation, medical care, and yes--even the economy as a whole.
The only thing ridiculous about caring for your community is knowing that there are those that don't.
Jayson appears to be a genius, should we get tax and medical advise from him too? Maybe he can figure out how to fix the economy..... This is ridiculous......
