@MrColdheadRadioplay4:33 on is the most amazing build EVER! At 7:44 when that suspended cymbal finally joins all the other elements...wow. Close your eyes. Mmmm.
@AleDaino yeah the video actually was originally for "great gig in the sky" but youtube were dicks to me, removed it and deleted my old account. So i just reuploaded with this song instead, fits just as well.
The first day I heard this song, I was travelling by car with a friend. I should tell you that when was supposed to turn left we kept going straight ahead with sweaty palms and opened mouths. This was more or less around the 8:10 minute...
This song evokes the same emotions as ones you get at seeing mother nature's finest work. Exquisite. Perfection. Peerless. I could go on forever. Thank you so much Sigur Ros
yhis is the kind of music i would play at my funeral.. its such a beautiful work of art and this is what i call musical art it makes people feel happy sad and calm at the same time and there are not meant bands in todays world that make me feel that way .. if only there would be more sigur róses in this world.. you can realy feel how the emotionalise there music and how they love to do it and here on iceland the did home... home is were they would go everywere and preforming live for free..
what an incredible song..! Totally amazing and so touching! The part from 7:00 just took my breath away and from 7:43 I felt like I was in heaven...
Maybe the most beautiful soundtrack I've ever heard! Sigur ros are definitely the band of the century!!!
I love to discover new bands and talents..I was surfing on youtube an hour ago and found a Band called "Nyctalgia"..Listen to their song "Falling into nothingness"..Awesome work!
That is absolutely incredible, I started listening to this song in a pretty happy mood, but I am now in tears, happy tears, but tears nonetheless. Sigur Ros are the only band to give such emotion, such passion, such energy into every single song. I'm at a loss to how they do it.
One day, I woke up, and there was a crow on my room. It was summer so the window was opened. And he just sat there, he couldn't fly anymore. So I put him in a box and got him some bread.
When I came back from school he was still there. In the evening I showed him to my friends, he was tame and he stood on my shoulder. A man came to me, because he was suprised, he took the crow and walked away..
That day, this was my favourite song, so when I hear this, I think about my sweet crow.
Apparently, this was recorded in one take at Abbey Road, (there is a youtube video of it) My god those musicians and choristers must have felt very special being part of that heavenly music
I think they're used to playing some great music ;) But yeah, it must've been special for both parties... The video is awesome, Sigur Ros with an orchestra is like Sigur Ros²
I think we've just found the perfect expression for a broken heart. Sensuous, bleak and poignant, it encapsulates the feelings of loss that I'm guessing are universal.
Every time I listen to Sigur Ros I feel that I somehow owe them something. They're incredible and incredibly tragic; like the musical equivalent of pandora's box. In every piece you'll find, beneath the raw and fundamental air of their sound, a small yet mighty tendril of hope.
"A small yet mighty tendril of hope..." Very well put. I don't speak Icelandic, but I understand the significance. That's why I reckon this music is universal. Aliens could listen to this music and feel their hearts break (hypothetically speaking, of course:-)
I don't know what the band are taking, but if the world had what they have then life would be that much better. As you say, it would be "sensuous, bleak and poignant" but still better.
I heard this group years ago, forgot they're name, and for the last 2 years i have been trying to find them...soo happy i finally know who they are...This song is absolutely amazing...i dont know why but it makes me cry and for no reason..! his voice is unreal...why does this song make me think of my ex...i never listened too sigur with her at all...crazy...but still...what a song...thank you sigur...quality
They do something amazing when they sing. You feel taken to another place with it. They are a special band and i think you have to be in the mood to listen to them. When you are in that mood though they are unbelievable.
I love reading the comments people write about Sigur Ros songs. It's so heartwarming to find so many people who are equally speechless and illiterate in the presence of such moving music. i have not yet come across any musical group who could create the the feelings i get from Sigur Ros. I'm off to Iceland on Wed (18th March), i hope i meet them. :p
strange as hell how have I come to tears unvoluntarily listening to this song. Sigur Ros is completely amazing, can't describe how I feel listening to it *-*
It's so rare that a group of people touch others in a way that they don't quite understand. When I listen to Sigur Ros I feel something that I know is there somewhere, but hasn't been discovered yet. It appears for the music, and then slips quietly back from where it came from, and I'm left unsettled and smiling.
Thanks for posting, your videos is very beautiful & apt :D
I'd never heard any work from Sigur Ros until just now. I've never had such music touch my consciousness...I feel uplifted and powerful joyous energies are pouring through my soul to hear such emotion searing though a sound wave. It is strangely spiritual like being connected to something so much bigger but unlike any earthly religion could ever hope to describe. This song has restored my happiness in living in a world I once thought could never quench my thirst for majesty.
where in my comment did i say they were from IRELAND??? if you can spot it could you show me please!!! i said all the best from IRELAND..THAT DONT MEAN THEY ARE FROM IRELAND,I MEANT BEST WISHES FROM IRELAND...WHO ARE THESE PRICKS THAT SEND THESE STUPID COMMENTS ON YOUTUBE,IM TALKING ABOUT YOU... i bet your one of these little nerdy fucks that trawl youtube s comments page just stiring the shit, you sad little bastard...NOW,FUCK OFF

my friend is going to play this at her wedding while all of the bridesmaids go down the aisle... she has 14 of them, so this will be great timing, and i have loved this song ever since i have heard it.
This is one of those songs that makes you want to find our everything about a band and listen to every song you can, it's amazing, brings a tear to my eye
