  • She's amazing!!!! And she's even better and getting better!

  • 4 people are jealous of her talent.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah this made me laugh so freakin hard! shes amazing! " you broke me glasses!" hahaha

  • wow she has an amazing voice!

  • Hmm...that didn't seem to be serious, or is it supposed to be? Because she was definitely better in the film and was singing correctly, and here she's just using her chest voice (instead of her head voice like she's supposed to). I'm not criticizing, just saying that this isn't exactly what I'm used to hearing from her.

  • This show is performed in various locations throughout each and every day to audiences full of people wearing glasses.

Nobody's ever gotten their glasses broken before.

A B flat up there does NOT break glass.

  • @Jessicakey93 calm down, she was kidding

  • she portrayed a young Audrey Hepburn in the ABC TV movie The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000).

  • Emmy sounds so good here! I thought she did good in the movie, but I think if they had waited a little while longer for her voice to mature, she would've sounded even better!

  • at 0:11, you can see the side of Bonnie's face. she wasn't wearing her glasses when they 'broke'.

  • NO SHE DID NOT REALLY BREAK BONNIES GLASSES! you can literally see her change them at 0:04 seconds, and she obviously wouldnt react so calm if she DID break them. and that obviously was not a glass break you heard lol.

like seriously, are you really THAT stupid? no offence.

  • @HelloFatJoe lmao it's just a joke people, calm down

  • @hurd98

  • @hurd98 I was telling the people that thought it was real, the people that thought she LITERALLY broke her glasses. Try reading the comments. People are retarded.

  • @HelloFatJoe Go look up "joke" in the dictionary

  • @TheLightningmikester I was telling the people that thought it was real, the people that thought she LITERALLY broke her glasses. Try reading the comments. People are retarded.

  • did she really break her glasses??? or it was a joke :oD ??

  • omgg that was incredible lol

  • DANG, GIRL!

  • Emmy, has a beautiful voice, I've always thought that about her. She can sing really high and I think she did break Bonnie's glasses because I heard Glass break at 21 seconds.

  • did she really break bonnie's glasses??

  • @PutrescentSoul i think so lol

  • i love her sound its really good

  • OMG! That was amazing, and, OMG, she actually broke her glasses! That's crazy!

  • I honestly don't know what to think on this. While it's possible, I'm in choir, I'm a soprano, and I sing with a forward pitch as well, the way she does, putting the pitch the front of my voice so it's got a sharper ring to is, and I've never broken glass, even when I sing much higher than her.

  • she didn't actually break the glass. if you look in the right corner while she's singing, you can see bonnie take off her glasses, and put a different pair on

  • @LassCakey93

If you look in Bonnie's hand at the begining you can see that she had another pair and puts them on while she's singing. She didnt break the glasses

  • wtf, great voice!

  • she can really sing but dragonball sucked

  • jesus f-ing christ... mad mad MAD skills! Like, I know for all of you out there who can sing, it just comes naturally to you (yeah sure you may have had training, but still you either have it or you don't), and it may not seem like that big a deal to you, but try to understand that for us who don't have it, there is a reason why our jaws are on the floor and we have dumbfounded looks on our mugs. Emmy, damn girl! That was AMAZZZZZZING! I grovel at your feet. I am not worthy.

  • I don't know very much about music. Can someone please tell me her octave range and what is the highest note she hits? How does Emmy's voice compare to the late Minnie Riperton?

If you listen carefully, between 0:19 and 0:20, you will hear glass break.

The stems of Bonnie Hunt's glasses (prior to and after taking them off) appear to be the same. I'm not sure this was pre-planned. I have an untrained ear, but it appears the high note did break glass.

    Thanks.

  • I would estimate Emmy has about a 3.5 octave range. The highest note she has recorded was at the end of the title song POTO. She was vocalizing then hits an E flat. As for you're last question, that depends. It's a fact Emmy's range on the scale pales in comparison not only Minnie Riperton. But many other tremendous singers from both past & present. I can name some if you want. But Emmy is very talented in her own right. Listen to her sing Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again. She's wonderful.

  • Ooh I wanna see the whole interview! If anybody finds it please pass it on :D

  • does anyone have the whole interview?

  • did she really break her glasses?

  • Yes

  • =o I didn't know that could actually happen!! Whooooaa..

  • no, if you keep an eye on bonnie hunt you can see her take her glasses off and put the "broken" ones on before emmy hits the high note

  • @Jussimateo no she didnt, if you saw bonnie took off her glasses and then later on she put them back on (the broken pair)

It wasnt that high to break the glass

  • expected applause or not, she hit the damn note!

  • yeah she did!

  • what in the hell are you talkin about?? nobody even heard you dude!

  • Well clearly you dont know what makes a good film good

  • Does anyone else think Bonnie Hunt is a BABE!

  • Secondly pulling the "Let's hear you sing" line isn't an argument. There are many critics in this world who can't sing for their lives but understand what good technique is. As for your comment on wasting the day on typing non-positive comments is very hypicritical. If I'm a fan of someone but may not like what I see (as long as it's reasonable) it's far more respectable then bashing those who do offer constructive critisism. As for listening to good singing I will gladly state names if you want

  • As a matter of fact, some of the critics here have claimed that they CAN do better, and this is their justification for criticizing the singer. So why can't we them ask to hear their superior version? Indeed, asking to hear a superior version IS an argument, because it asks the critic to provide evidence of the claims made. People can hate Emmy Rossum if they choose, but if they're going to make a critique they need to back up their comments. That's what "argument" is all about.

  • people lambast Emmy Rossum because she is extraordinarily beautiful, adorable, and talented, and they are jealous of her

  • Okay people, this is getting out of hand! First of all nobody has bashed her talent. But people are entitled to offer critisisim if something appears to be rubbing them the wrong way. Yes I understand Bonnie asked her to sing the credenza. But she did not ask for her to behave like a diva when she she hit the high note. (Which was strained) As I mentioned before I do think Emmy is talented but she is hardly the greatest singer ever. Since her voice is still developing she still has some work.

  • there is nothing wrong with knowing you have a great voice. she was just fooling around having a great time.

  • they actually started to applaud a little before she put her arms up. listen closely.

  • and the third one was Phantom..he ruined it..but hey it´s just an opinion...if u r SOOO FAN of this girl well is your desicion but she´s not a good opera singer sorry

  • Nobody is arguing her sucess is just that to begin with the director chose her and webber was in rush to make this film and he chose the last resource instead of looking or just make an audition do u know how many women including young girls sing amazing?? she is not for that role but we r all humasn we make mistakes so schumacher is human too he made already 3 mistakes with 3 movies...

  • how do you know he was in a rush to film the movie? in movies, or in plays for that matter, the never have a last resort (its resort, not resource) they pick the best of the best for a role.

  • A rush? Webber and Schumache spent 20 years pulling the film together! They started planning it when Webber was still married to Sarah Brightman!

  • Ok. She was sitting down, for one thing. Second, I believe she was asked to sing it by the host, to test whether she can actually sing the part. Her gesture does not appear to be a call for a standing ovation, but a sign of relief that she made the note.

Let's not spend our lives comparing Emmy Rossum to Sarah Brightman. Sarah is a professionally-trained professional singer. No one can replace her. Emmy Rossum does a a god job in her own right.

  • I agree. I move a lot, too, when I hit those high notes, because it's a lot of work and yeah, it is sort of a sign of relief that I hit it.

She's not stuck up enough to ask for a standing ovation. Emmy simply made the gesture as a "Phew!" sort of response.

Cause that kind of stuff is exhausting.

  • But she has indeed improved alot.

  • i like her voice

  • It´s okay to have confidence but come on!! she was not great in the movie for my peronsal opinion..I know so many talented women who could have done an excellent job and she was not good. and besides she´s like "hello what r u waiting for applaud me (?)" naaa screw this she sucks

  • She's just glad she made the note. Isn't it funny how resentful people are of others' success?

Yes, Rossum isn't the only person in the world who could have sung the part. She was 16. If you want to blame someone for it not being Sarah Brightman in the movie, blame Andrew Lloyd Webber, not Emmy Rossum. Webber assassinated Brightman's career after their divorce. The film was originally planned to star Brightman before their divorce.

  • beautiful voice

  • Give her some credit, come on! She did it live on TV. She deserves some applause. What's wrong with girls being a little confident of themselves and wanting some acknowledgement?

  • well she did sing and did not intend to when she came on the show.

  • if you watch the host she takes her glasses off and then puts them back on so it was probably a set up.

  • Yes, the little-known "power glasses" that give other people the ability to sing. What exactly is being set up?

Watch it again. The host puts on her glasses so she can clap. Clapping needs two hands, and is hard to do while holding eyeglasses. Some "set up".

  • she sings pretty

  • OMG, her voice has improved so much! I loved her cadenza in the POTO movie, but she sounds so much better here!

  • i agree

  • Yes the "e" is the vocal that helps women to sing .Instead men find hard to sing with the the "E" vowel. But still she sang it in a lowerd key.But I hated that she waved her arms to say "Hello what r u waiting for? aplaud me(?)"

  • She is too proudy indeed though I am IN LOVE WITH HER ENERGY AND ELEGANCE.

  • Pretty nice, but I'm still left wondering why "E" instead of "Ah", but nevermind.

  • it's easier to sing high on an E. or at least for me, it is

  • Usually this cadenza is done in an "Ah" though, so that's why I was left wondering.

  • she probably didn't want to mess up on TV.

  • Do you have the whole interview?

  • Wow, she's actually improved a lot. If she'd sounded like that in the movie, I wouldn't have bitched so much.

  • Now honestly....can't one watch ONE Emmy video without this damn bashing? Folks, that movie came out 4 years ago, the show is still playing, selling more tickets than ever. Let go of your grudges, pick your medium and ENJOY!

  • she improved and matured[her voice] too :)

  • wasn't that from think of me...?

  • post the whole interview? pleazzzzze :D thx!

  • When you can sing that well, you can afford to ask for an applause. Leave the jealousy behind, friend.

  • Interesting how mere "dislike" is interpreted as jealousy. And no, no matter how well you sing, you shouldn't be vain enough to ask for applause.

  • If you're going to preach about the moral values on not being vain, maybe you should also practice the moral value of not disliking a person you don't even know.

  • It's not wrong to make a comment on someone's performance. She is a performer, after all, and I will judge her singing as I see fit. That's her job, and she (and her fans) shouldn't expect constant praise for her.

  • I totaly agree.Sarah Brightman sings so beautifully and she NEVER EXPECTS APPLAUSE LIKE THAT....well at least she waits for it in a polite and elegant gesture on the stage. I noticed that when I went to see the Winter Symphony concert in HK.

  • I like how she acts like Kristin Chenoweth does during her performance in Candide... when she's singing her Eb6, not a measly little A5.

  • To each his own. None of us have a right to determine what good singing is. She can sing. She's not the very best in the world, but it's still good. God, where do these haters come from?

  • I find it very funny how people who know nothing who nothing about classical singing have the audacity to critisize it.

  • Yeah, you're right, my years of training and BA in voice make me totally unqualfed to talk about good snging

  • She's improved a lot, but she still: A) Slid up the note B) Ignored the C6 that is usually part of the cadenza and C) Didn't even sing the Bb5

  • Three words: Let it go

Nobody forced you to watch it. Watch clips of the stage show and spare us your whining.

  • I don't give a toss about your opinion, I just wonder about your masochism. Why do you keep following an artist you obviously dislike? Any good reasons besides masochism?

  • Well, they say that pain is pleasure.

  • If you don't like her then don't watch the videos. simple.

    I think she's amazing! :)

  • what you think isn't important, good singing isn't subjective

  • If you think opinions don't matter, why do you insist on forcing yours upon others? do us all a favor and do something productive like work on world peace or something, instead of coming here to make comments that don't mean anything besides to get a reaction from fans. Go on and get a life or practice your own singing, attention whore.

  • I didn't start any flame war. Seems to me you started that all on your own, dear. All I did was give my own opinion to yours and you just felt the need to reply. Now, I wouldn't mind having a healthy conversation about anything, including the singing of Emmy Rossum.

  • But, if you're going to be an effing child on here and say things that only mean shit (what I'm saying is that all you're doing is having a pissy fit, darling... nothing that is at all factual or along the lines of 'good singing' to you), then i think you'd better just run along before you make a bigger ass of yourself than you have single-handedly done.

  • Plus, anger shows when you type really fast and have loads of typos. Just breathe. Calm down. Take a pill, for all I care. If you're not willing to be civilized, then take your tantrums somewhere else.

  • UH OH, SOME SRS BUZNESS IZ GON DOWN ON TEH INTRANETZ GUYSZ!!!

Also? I scored a 35 on my english ACT. I don't run spellcheck on youtube comments.

  • Good for you. See? You have nothing to prove.

I hope you feel better now. =)

  • Hey - I know - you record your own rendition of some of the PotO parts, so we can listen. Let's hear your version! I, for one, would love to hear your version. Show us how it's done!

  • so that makes hilary duff a better singer?

  • wow! chills all over! emmy is so fantastic! her voice is even better!!! can't wait to hear more from you...

  • Did Bonnie just quickly switch her glasses?

  • Yes, yes,yes her voice is excellent, better even that it used to be!I love the video!Thank you very much for this!!

  • Her voice has improved so much! I can't wait for her second album.

  • She is amazing! Her voice really really has improved since The Phantom of the Opera.

  • She's strengthed her voice in all it's registers - both lower and higher sound equally powerful and lovely; i can't wait to hear what she does next, music-wise.

  • her voice has improved so much! and thats saying something, she was amazing in phantom!
