@vsyostudiotv True, although there are other kind of pedals that use a potentiometer (variable resistor) that send a signal of the exact pedal position (no only on or off, but all in between), instead of a switch. Anyway those pedals are also simple. The real electronics are on the keyboard.
@interlinkknight Do you work with microcontrollers btw? I m doing now some project, have already all parts: microcontroller, buttons, wires. But don't know exactly how to solder everything together.
@vsyostudiotv I don't know anything about microcontrollers. Search for a tutorial of any kind that teach you exactly what you need. If is about soldering, that is easy to find. If is about a specific project, most likely is also a tutorial.
@jed37jed Just connect a switch in to a TRS jack plug (the connector that is going to go into your keyboard). The rest is to make a pedal mechanism that turns the switch on when you press it.
@rurounikh Almost all keyboards use the same standard for the sustain pedal. I google the casio privia px-100 and is not different from the rest.
In other words, you do something wrong. If you are using a stereo jack plug, make sure you connect one cable to the big contact and the other cable in the tip contact. The middle contact can be left without any connection, or optionally can be also connected to the same cable of the big contact.
i use a converter that makes any headphone connect to my keyboard because the keyboard jack is just huge. i used the same converter 2 try out my brother's rockband pedal for the drums to see if it works for the sustain, and guess what? it did! just letting any rockband-owners out there know
@interlinkknight rockband is a game my brother has for his playstation 3, it is electronic drums and the pedal they have that simulates a kickdrum works perfectly as a sustain pedal
@interlinkknight - i had a visual error on the video, i though it was something else, but anyway, thanks for sharing, it helps a lot coz i'm looking for this kind of one, gives me an idea.
haha..this looks like hi-tech sustain pedal, kunglao85's looks like real sustain pedal(sp) and your's looks like..i don't know , you describe it ::D (no offence, of course)
You are right, kunglao85's pedal looks like a real sustain pedal. The problem of kunglao85's pedal is that is not very portable. In that way I prefer my pedal, but not doubt that kunglao85's pedal is the best overall. Even his video is better than mine.
@ickomusic Actually, most of the circuitery-looking components are not even working. All that he used is an on-off switch, two metal contacts connected to the thing that you step on and spring. The rest is only hot-glued leftovers from the old joystick.
Don;t get me wrong, the way he made the pedal is still amazing.
How do you made it ?
fireflyz1000 2 weeks ago
@fireflyz1000 is just a switch. The rest is just simple stuff like the pedal mechanism and weight

I was thinkink those pedals have someting like digital microcontollrers! so it seems, they dont! goodnews

It can't be easier.

@interlinkknight i tried something similar but it didnt work, i have a casio privia px-100, do u think it does not use the same mecanism?
