Very strong leading voice, not many female singers like Alison, Lisa Hannigan and the singer in Little Dragon are just as great like Ali though. With Jacks voice in the back it works better, rather than Ali and Jack being swapped, even though Jack is still a fantastic singer.

they oughta get rid of allison... she doesnt do much for the band- she cant play guitar and jack is a WAY better singer, and his voice fits this song better. allison just makes em sound like a girly band jack makes em sound dark and great

No actually, her voice is just right for this song. Its soulful and edgy at the same time, which fits the moody melody of this song. As far as who's lead singer, I m sure if Jack White wanted to be lead he would have done so to begin with. And to say she sounds like a girly band singer is beyond comprehension.

@ZachPackAttack If I'm not mistaken, Jack White actually COULDN'T do the vocals for most of this record. He was told by his doctor to rest his voice, and this was what came of it.

Maybe that was just misinformation that I heard through a third party, but I seem to remember hearing that somewhere.

he knew it was right for the sound of the band. i mean, you can't put alison in with the stripes, they have too different a sound. her voice is amazing with this album.

Umm she is precisely what a female lead singer should sound like. She could go toe to toe with just about any vocalist in rock music today. Her voice is soulful, gritty, & powerful. It took me a little while to get into these guys because I figured Jack would be singing. After I listened to The Kills (Alison's other band) & really started to appreciate her on her own, I felt ready to try to listen to the Dead Weather again. I normally dislike female fronted rock bands but she's awesome & badass.
