@manishrana51 Dude, I'm from Kerala, you don't need to teach me about south Indians. What you don't understand is, there are north Indians who have the same attitude towards south Indians. You haven't seen a lot of discrimination because you grew up in India, surrounded by your own people. Back home, I've seen that those southies don't hate northies. Most are great fans of movies from other states, south and north. My grandfather and my mom love old hindi songs. You've only seen part of it.

I grew up in Dubai(I'm sure you've heard of it, being an Indian) in an Indian school and my friends group is made up of people from every part of India, both south and north. I've mingled with almost every subculture in India and I know for a fact that there is a lot of enemity between different states. My friends just tease eachother, but others aren't like that.

Bollywood movies may have bigger budgets & look more expensive, but they can be even dumber than the south Indian movies you're ranting about. If you consider those shiny Bollywood movies as good movies, it depends on your tastes. Obviously, you want to put down all parts of India other than your own, no matter what anyone says. Thanks for making me realise that there are Indians in the US who discriminate like you.

And the issues covered in Malayalam movies (not stupid action ones like this, actual malayalam movies) are more relevant to daily life. Unlike most Bollywood movies which are set everywhere except India :)
