  • Chen Xiaowang is definately the real deal. This is my favourite version of him doing Lao Jia Yi Lu. Usually for performence reasons , he adds some Er Lu/ Xinjia, but this is great!

  • The background music sounds likes one of those they played at furnerals.

  • zajebistosc

  • this guy is a good friend of Chuck Norris'

  • i want to fight him (i havent tested myself in a long time) he seems to have a semi-decent passive-passive form.

  • @blinkerking1 Why on earth would you want to FIGHT ChenXiaoWang. It probably wouldn't even be a fight. He would probably brush you off. Do you even know what he is capable of?

  • @dekal1 i know perfectly well what he is capable of. and its not like im just some other weakling that just trifles in martial art. i have studied Kami no Kobushi and other varying martial arts since i was a little child. i just havent had a good sparing partner for a while. though his style is quite unique i practice a similar more perfected art.

  • @blinkerking1 Thats good that you practice a martial art thats perfect. I didn't know there was one, but hey, thanks for telling me something new. As for CXW he just practices. There are a lot of people who want to fight him. I'm sure hes close to your area often. Please bring a video camera when you do. I gotta see this. Lets see how you how you fair against a true GrandMaster of MA. He has a 9th Dan Ranking in China by the way. Only 9th Dan allowed to tach every form and aspect of Chen Tai CHi

  • @dekal1 well i dont think he will come to my area anytime soon i live near fortbenning georgia in america. i dont think hell be here anytime soon

  • @blinkerking1 I'm sure he will be. He makes yearly trips to the U.S. But please, do not try to fight him. He would be more willing to teach than to want to fight you. You don't want to learn the hard way, trust me. Even though he would take it light on you, you would still be hurt for such a rude challenge.

  • @dekal1 then do you mind giving me advice on how to challenge him. (i dont really want to learn from him but to test my skill against his. i do not want to be rude either but all i want to do is have a formal challenge his martial art against mine. i was going to use an unorthodox style of martial art on him that i have been trying to perfect for the last year and a half and have had no worthy challenge to spar with. now that i think i have worked hard for close to two years on that art alone)

  • @blinkerking1 The best way to see his skill is to ask him, can you show me your fighting skill? Or, can we push hands? He has been tested plenty of times so i'm sure he won't take offense to it its just that some people are very rude with lessons. You can learn a lesson the nice way or he can teach you the hard way. You can pick. Just be respectful. He will respect you the same way i'm sure.

  • @dekal1 thanks dekal you have given me a lot of useful information. i will reflect on it. it was nice chatting with you.

  • @blinkerking1 There is a Chen teacher in Atlanta, who works with MAster Chen Xiaowang and Master Zhu Tiancai, His name is Florin Szondi. I've been bleesed toi find him and train with him every week in private classes.

  • Chen XiaoWang. One of Buddhas four warrior attendants!

  • @dekal1 no, i think someone else has that honor

  • @blinkerking1 Who? I read that he is one of Buddhas four warrior attendants. All four being from the Chen family.

  • Who sings this

  • Very relaxing music, who sings this?

  • @Doconnor69 it sounds like silent night to me

  • This is old frame first routine, each of the 4 grandmasters does it a bit differently, This master adds a move to the beginning of wavehands that others dont do. There is no one head of Chen style.

  • what's the background music on this video?

  • i've learned tai chi for 7 years.. onli left sun style, wu dang, n ba gua haven learn ><

i kinda love chen style cuz it's diff from basic tai chi we learn.. i oso put it as my competition routine, we call it 自選太极拳and剑.. sword event i improvise from fist oso.. CHEN STYLE ROCKS!!!

  • Please tell me the name of the song....Great video!!!!

  • Can someone please tell me which form of Chen taiji is this?

  • @farhan3d, hey hey this is the Lao Jia Yi Lu

  • I'ma go ahead and call this art.

  • I love and respect you, Master Chen xiaowang, The Chinese and what you demonstrate. Belinda Williams of San Diego

  • Great style, I attended a taijiquan day at a local college and watched 3-4 different styles of tai ji - Wu , Wang , Chen and found this particular style very appealing.

I also liked knowing about the historical significance and traditions. Very beautiful.

  • thx a lot for all i found in taiji-quan. and for all the benefits i allready received and will surprise me in future.

for me, chen-taiji by gm chen xiaowang is an essential understanding of human moves. i send all my love and all my respect to my sifu jan silberstorff.

    be e-motioned by taiji!

    jochen köhler

  • Simply amazing!!!!

  • I see that GM chen xiaowang's form is more similar to GM Chen Qing Zhou's Laojia in this video. I'm assuming this was before he became the patriarch and started to modify his form to popularize it.

  • Good

  • The real purpose if it is to promote taiji to a higher level, I have to say that, Chen Xiaowang is not fully trained by himself - all aspect. His weakness is not able to pass the energy from dain tian trhought his whole body.

Taiji need ptractive and need talent as well.

Sorry to say that, same thing as Chen Yu, Ma Hong. All their weakness is able to be resloved, however....

  • Very inspirational! Master Chen is so young here, and already amazing! True gongfu!

    Thanks for sharing the video!

    :o)

  • Most people follow the hands, but if you really want to understand taijiquan follow the waist.

  • Bow down to master CHEN!!!

  • btw, its the laojia yilu as chen xiaowang still teaches it until movement 65 (the last 10 movements are missing)

the video should be from the mid 80s, therefore some movements are done a bit more "exact" and slowly nowadays...

  • if you want to meet chen guys in pushhands competition or full contact, go to hamburg, germany or chenjiagou, henan, china (look for chen ziqiang). not everybody practising chen is interested in such competitions, thus not everbody is doing it well. its not a problem of the style, but of what one practises

  • this is a very good video. what is the name of the song used?

  • Question: Is there a part 2 to complete this form?

  • Loans of Yoghurt you are a fool and everybody with half brain knows it too. Master Chen is the man, Period. Thanks for sharing this wonderful clip. Peace, n

  • There might be *some* truth in those words but... I am of the mind that it is a trifle unwise to judge another martial arts practitioner, who is most assuredly light years ahead of me. Whether he is the incarnate Zhang Sanfeng or not.

  • Chen Xiaowang is a Grand Master and currently head of the Chen family from whom this style originated. He is THE top man.

You are outstandingly rude, arrogant and ignorant. Shame on you. Comments such as your are not those of a true taiji disciple.

  • my friends name is chen, he doesnt like karate he likes to bike ride. :D

  • I heard that Wang Xian was pretty good too. Someone i know explain to me that the top three in chen's village are Wang Xian, Chen Xiaowang and Chen Zhenglei. Chen Xiaowang is the leader of chen's village, Chen Zhenglei is trying to kick him out but he's not taken seriously. But he said that the best of them is Wang Xian. The reason he is not the chen's village leader is because his name is Wang and not Chen. But also because he is a modest man. He doesn't care to be chen's leader.

  • what about zhu tian cai?

  • i also heard that chen xiao wang is the village appointed keeper of chen taiji, whereas chen zheng lei is the government appointed keeper. is that true?

  • Political rank does not necessarily equate to marital competence. I am not a tai chi stylist, so I am unqualified to access Mr. Xiaoweng's technique- but if you wish to defend his competence, your arguments should be more along the lines of 'look at this aspect and that aspect of his technique, which is exemplary because of these specific reasons' and less along the lines of 'Mr. Xiaoweng holds such and such a title and leads such and such an organization' however famed that organization may be.

  • @mdingdisciple I respect your admiration of Master Chen, but do not be so quick to attack others, for you also are breaking the principles of taiji.

Remember what the Tao Te Ching says:

    Yield and overcome;

    Bend and be straight.

  • @LoansOfYogurt Not at all true. Master Chen Xiaowang says no one's tai chi is perfect, that is directly from his mouth to my ear, not via some comment on some website. Never accept something as the absolute truth unless you got it directly from the source. I don't know where you got that information about him from but it's not correct.

  • Got the name of the song. Got 4 versions of the song. I have uploaded 3 of em. Very nice music, especially the 2nd version. check em.

    1st: /watch?v=590mK3Jpytw

    2nd: /watch?v=97ctC0Nx2nQ

    3rd: /watch?v=WDdYjGGZ4mU

You will find the details of the song.

  • @videomaniaXX dont find the title of the song please let me know thanks

  • plz som1 if you could find the name of this song....

  • Ha! Finally completed Lao Jai this morning! It feels great!

  • Congratulations its a great feeling I remember getting to the end of the form, now you can go back to the beggining and start all over again. like I have done many times :-) I love Taiji

  • Thanks! The summer's here, so lots of practising in the forest.

  • Awesome! And the song is so beautifull! :D 5/5

  • The Grandmaster is awesome...and I love the music too.Thank you for this video.

  • What is that music? I like it. Anybody knows its name?

  • This is - peggy lee - pass me by.

  • his lower back is so relaxed and you can see the power in his elbows doesn't come from his shoulders, so they stay relaxed and don't add negative energy by tensing up. so he can keep the fluid movement and convey a lot of power through his structure. very skilled at this old frame form.

  • Grandmaster Chen is the best there is. He is highly revered throughout the world. I had been doing Chen for years, then had the honor of attending one seminar with him. It made me decide to empty my cup and start over, training with one of his direct students. And this is an old video. He is even better today, if possible.

  • Quite powerful, and still beautiful.

  • me gustaria saber el nombre de la música felicitaciones al gran maestro un equilibrio perfecto de lo que es el taichi

  • Nice the way he magically fixes his hair at 5:34!! Maybe he just used the power of his qi to move it back into place? Very cool.

  • you are right guys it is old frame.i stand corrected . serves me right for asking one of the class students. i asked our instructor and he agreed with you

  • this is 38 form , or at least it is the form we are studying and the movements are exactly the same as the video. i went from karate to taichi and understand a lot of the applications defence wise

  • It's not the 38 form. It's the first 2/3 or so of the classic laojia yilu (old frame first form).

  • I agree, it's the authentic Laoja Ylu and Chen Xiao Wang does it as a poem of powerful and grace

  • What a wonderfully graceful form; it is the 13 step and "long form" of Chen style Taiji, and I'm now learning it from local instructors in Crystal River and Port Richie, Florida...Bob Burns

  • This is a beautiful form. There are Masters and Grand Masters of genuine Tai Chi lineage around the world teaching people real Tai Chi like this. I am lucky enough to be taught by a Great Grand Master in England! :o)

    It's great for all

  • kool.

  • the whole thing is just beautiful...

  • what is the music?

  • Fantastic music. Not mentioning the performance :)

  • chupa elpiiiko

  • What pisses me off the most is that thnx to all these foreigners ruining the chance for people who truly want to learn this art cant because the ones who did have the chance made it look bad and now I can only be tortured and never find someone from a direct lineage to teach me they ways of tai chi im mexican native but my heart nelongs to asia. And I have been into martial arts since I was a child but taichi is my calling.....its just not fair.

  • Life's never fair but hard work is the foundation of taiji gungfu. Asia is in the heart, not the other way around. If your intent is always pure, life will lead you to a teacher.

Just remember your teachers are seldom who or what you expect them to be. It is the nature of Tao.

When your Taiji is strong, you will no longer be "pissed off" and you'll see less and less "foreigners" ;-)

  • I dont know who you are or if i will ever be able to meet you in person but thank you that really helped not just by what you said but because you cared enough to respond thank you.

  • That is a great example of True Martial Spirit. Bravo Syphen88

  • wat is the this song

  • The biggest problem with martial arts practitioners is that some have no patience and are too spoil!! Those taiji workshops were never to teach you the entire art: IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE to teach decades of experience in 3 days! But as long as one is determined, by practicing the forms, push hands, fighting applications; then maybe one day one will automatically grasp the true skills of tai chi.

  • Yoga, I think ur being a little harsh. Its no longer an imperialistic nor early republican age in China. China is day by day becoming more of a capitalistic country. So then what is wrong with making a little money by sharing and teaching tai chi kungfu. Even in early republican era, martial arts master makes money from teaching as well. I'm not priviliged enough to be close by to a taichi master to learn, so I really depend on instructional tapes in order to learn as much as I can.

  • U think they will display or teach to you stupid foreigners in 3 day workshops the real goods.chen xiaowang is part of the rusty mechanism spelling the decline and death of taiji.By the way my lineage is from chen zhao kui and tian xiu chen(chen fa ke's direct disciples)Taiji is not about selling half assed forms for a high price of which the 4 guardians of chen taiji are famous for.Taiji is an art which when sold become s a tainted commodity.

  • I am so glad i didnt learn laojia chen taiji.Chen zhao kui went to chen village to teach those 4 jinggang his father's chen fa ke's brilliant invovations to a decaying art in chenjiagou. But these Jinggang(4 guardians) of chen style never got the point! And the form displayed here is a decoy.

  • Hey not all foreigners are stupid I have deep respect for martial arts especially taichi everyone wants to learn hot to fight and jump but no one respects the grace the tradition and the years of dedication it takes to truly learn this art. trust me I would do anything to be taught I would give my life if I had to just to have the knowledge of Taichi

  • I am come from QinYang city of china.

I know Chen Xiao Wang .

    I'm also learning Chen Style

  • good for you!

  • So many Tai Chi practitioners are protective of what they do. Grandmaster Chen is incredibly generous to allow himself to be posted like this. He is a true Grandmaster.

  • Thanks so much for posting this video. I am learning with a great master tai chi, chen style, and this video helps me correct my movements. Thanks again.

  • EXELENT

  • i like the song, can someone please tell me what its called?

  • Chen style is very hard to learn, but my dreaming Taiji, it needs deep inside energy.

I like it very much, but just beginner, now learning 24 form, still a long way to go...

  • Beautiful. I practice another style of Tai Chi but every time I see a Chen form done in this way I just think.."I've got to learn this style".

  • This is so amazing and inspiring. The poster deserves thanks.

  • Someone commented that a person could just follow along with the video. A novice trying to learn Tai Chi from a vid is kind of like a teenager trying to build a car by taking one apart and imitating the parts.

  • Funny you should say that. I went to train at Chen Zhenglei's training centre in Zhengzhou last year. Whilst going through the form he told me I was good and asked me who my teacher was. I told him that I didn't have a teacher, and that I learned from his DVDs. We both laughed. :)

How you take the form into application is another matter. But remember, the DVDs are there to learn from. You can get the basics, but the rest will have to come from a master.

  • @schtel Where can I find some good videos on silk reeling? and forms? Whar are some of ur favorite dvds?

  • There are many who call themselves "masters" of Tai Chi. Grandmaster Chen XaioWang is 100 times more knowledgeable than any of them. I always laugh when someone says there are no applications in it. Just shows that the writer is a total novice.

  • i like it

  • es muy lindo.soy un practicante, bueno es de lo mejor amigos

  • beautiful

  • see his neck -----so tense ,only arms work.

  • that is not tension; that is excellent posture.

  • Forgot to tell you he got a stiff neck the night before.

  • I love the way he does Chen style. This is inspiring!

  • solo routines, but no applications. boring.

  • bull, this form has tons of applications. you just don't understand them

  • "Holy child Jesus"! It sure is baroque what he does there, with a lot of winding extras, and it's hard for me who learned the Taiwan line (Adam Hsu)of laojia yilu to decipher it, but I can only share the enthusiasm of NTNGUYEN: the sense for timing & rythm, the looseness and floating character of his movements and the fa jie are astonishing!

  • *sigh* missing chen style... hard to find in No Va

  • do you know the name of this song? please...

  • i don't care what people say about chen xiao wang. He is by far the most respectable tai chi master I've ever seen. I've seen hundreds of "masters" performing their forms, or "projecting their chi", but they all merely have 1/10 the amount of root/balance, and martial art prowress that this man posses.

  • but not really "old". the real "laojia yi lu" has far smaller movements, not as open and good-looking as you see here..hahaha

  • laojia yi lu. exactly what I did...ahaha

  • which form is it? Is it laojia yi lu or xinjia yi lu?

  • how to get power form feet .taiji fans have to take care look .

  • THIS IS NOT REAL TAIJI .

  • so post your vid and show us what you consider real Taiji oh masterful one!

  • then you know nothing ,ya big numpty

  • chen style is the best!! it brings both yin & yang in almost perfect harmony!!

  • I would have liked to watch this performance with the natural sound of Master Chen moving about on the stage instead of the music.

  • songs good

  • Fantastic! At last the form I am learning done by the Master. I'm not sure whether to be inspired or to give up now;-)

  • Hi all, can anybody tell me original title of this video? I would like to buy it on DVD to have the best quality of the best taiji man. :-) Can you help me to find it?

  • No idea. It's an archive video passed on by someone.

  • i'm learning it, tbh, i think it's good enough for you, just follow him

  • Thanks, what I meant was I wonder if I'll ever be anywhere near that good.

  • If you have his potential, his teachers and train as hard as he did, for sure :)

    Otherwise => no :D

I still love training. It's always nice to look back and see where you came from, then turn around and see someone like him standing in the direction you want to go.

  • Oh well, I'll settle for being as good as I can:-)

I agree with you about the fun of looking both ways. Let's keep looking;-)

  • I come from China, I explain your question, CHEN TAIJI have 72 postures, is the most primitive primal chaos, also is most formidable, other also have YANG TAJI, WU TAIJI, WO TAIJI, SUN TAIJI, the average person studies was simplified 24 or 38 postures, used for the strong body and the internal organs, after 72 postures all understood, could turn the perfect TAIJI soldier or the master. CXW indeed is the TAIJI master. But as for that music, I did not know is any name, WOW.

  • It's Korean music.

  • Do you know where I can download it from? What is the name of the song-artist? Thanks

  • Yep, still the best

  • Love this 'Old form Routine No.1'of Chen's Taiji very much!!!

  • Does anybody has the 38 forms? I have his book, but haven't seen the 38 forms demonstration..

  • I like the music. Does anyone know the name of the music?

  • it is Laojia Yilu :-) CXW is the best...

  • This IS the MAN! CXW as a young man. This is traditional Chen Village TaiJiQuan. Add this one to your favorites list. It is condsidered a treasure for the archives. If I had four hands, I'd rate it 4 big thumbs up!!!
