Hey does yours have a trunk button. I bought one that needs tons of work and i cant figure out how to open the power trunk. I dont have keys I am getting them made.
They just don't make 'em like this anymore. It used to be monster cubic inches and bold styling. Today it's about fuel efficiency and contemporary Japanese styling
@journeyquest1 What a stupid fuckThe construction worker had a sign saying slow as this ass speeds by. I question the originality just by his actions.
@windupman515 you make it sound like they were walking a 300 ton crane across the street,,,,, there were just cones on the road cuz they were doin work, if you didnt notice that it was all BARRicaded off,,, maybe if they had a Cop on Detail like they do all the time around my way,,, then maybe you woulda got your way and seen him get a ticket,, WAHHHH
go to ytwoktt on youtube and view my trans am 1st start video. they got the engine started and it wont be long now before it looks just like an se ws6 trans am. cant wait!!!!
Part 3 SD cams are ground with a bigger gear for distributor for the factory 80lb oil pump. If you use ram air iv cam you need a special hardened little dist gear. These SD's maybe best engine Pontiac ever put in a car.....I have ran this thing up to 7,000rpm in high gear more than once...Nunzi put a chrome crank in mine and his special ram air Iv cam, but I still dont recommend those kinda rpms for a big blk Pontiac. I have out run many motorcycles.. Nunzi is the man. He will make it fly.
part 2 .. I still have the car it runs 10.80's on nitrous and high elevens with out. Ofcourse that is open headerw and slicks 4:10 gears.. The stock non SD motors were rated 250hp. The SD's have totally different round port heads instead of the d port base 455. Also steel crank and cross webbing on top of the 4 bolt block and also has dry sump oil provisions for all out racing. Just stick a Ram air IV cam in it . And this thing will fly..
It is correct to say the 73 model was rated 310hp and the 74 rated 290hp with the milder cam but these ratings were at something like 4400 rpms. They were barely able to get these out of production due to the gas crunch so they fudged a little the other way.. Nunzi the Pontiac builder took a stock 74 and installed 4:10 gears and his ignition get and headers and it ran 12.70's. I have a 74 that he built the motor in the mid 80's in New York. Im in Texas. I still have the car. I will write more.
Omm, actually yeah its true, these cars were severely under-rated even up til 2002.
GM, Ford, and Mopar frequently scuffed numbers to fool insurance companies, otherwise nobody would be able to afford their product, also why would GM want to rate a Pontiac F-body above the Vette?
I saw a magazine where they dynoed a survivor SD455, not restored, and it pulled 380hp, but the dyno stopped registering at 580 torque O_O
@455Transam alrite, cool... whats the normal 455 like compared to the SD? also when you say the fastest muscle car, what do you mean? like 1/4 mile, top speed, some nascar recod or sumthim?
@lobzdik it produced 250 hp--not a lot of horsepower, but a lot of torque. You have to factor in the years these were made; much reduced compression ratios and added smog equipment, as well as how the horsepower rating was now SAE net versus the gross hp of the 60's. The base 455 (not SD) would have been considered a milder 300-something horsepower engine in the 1960's while the Super-Duty engine with a rated 290 horsepower would have been rated at a gross 400 horsepower engine in the 60's.
@culcun are you fukin stupid Herbit ADAMS heard OF IT LOOK IT FUKIN UP DIPSHIT it has gotten a dyno and it came up 525hp with 8 to 1 compression with around 600 torqe all stock and look ata stock ram air 4 they all beat the pissa shit chevy 454 ss chevell with 11 to 1 compression as well as this engine learn something BOY pontiacs only say that because of insurance reasons ask ppl that own a pontiac in the years late 60s and early 70s pontiac big block all will tell you the are FUKIN MONSTERS
@TheWildtransam I never said anything about the Chevelle. I have driven a stock '74 TA with the non-SD 455 and there is no way it is making anywhere over 250 hp. I am writing about gross hp vs. SAE net, so perhaps one can fantasize about huge hp numbers all they want, but I have never, ever heard of a stock early 70's Pontiacs pulling in 11 second quarter miles, let alone 12's; but I have heard of bone-stock Z06 Vettes doing so (I am not even trying to compare other than numbers for argument)
@culcun Motor Trend takes many of the cars they test to the dyno, and modern cars are producing numbers near what they are advertising, such as the Z06. Yes, bench racing and myths are great, but until you can show me any evidence of bone-stock, off the showroom floor T/A's from '73-'74 pulling in low quarter mile times then I will believe the hype. My friend's '72 TA with a mildly built '70 455 motor from a GTO was no way pulling 500 net hp. His best time at LA County Rcwy was 12.7 w/slicks
@TheWildtransam Fet out of the past you idiot a stock s.d trans am off theshowroom floor is a 14 second flat car no better. They respond well to headers and ignition curve kit but still no where near what the hype says. There is a guy here in montreal with a red one who has the world record for gears ,exhaust, slicks.conveter and a few other tuning devices he ran low 12s ,he has owned it since new and has told me that he couls never go under 14 seconds when totally stock.J.M RACING in Montreal.
You obviously are just another one of those wannabe car guys. "v6" wow. Are you from japan by chance where that is the biggest motor that you can get? Geeze!!!!! American Muscle smokes import all day long. Go back to china!!!

I'm always amused at the folks who try to measure the performance of a 3400# highways sport touring car by it's 1/4 mile performance.
2nd generation f bodys are designed for high speed cruising and holding the road, Not drag racing.
willys gassers, and nova II's and mustangs etc doing low et at the track thats great but its like this.
they are bottle rockets...
2nd Gen F bodies are fighter jet corvette killers.

@lobzdik the SD455 was a race engine slightly detuned for production. The regular 455 wasn't built with as high quality parts as the SD.
Actually I'm slightly wrong on the dates I believe the VIPER and the Z1 VETTE were faster aroung 1997 or so.......
455Transam 1 year ago
@455Transam No kidding everything else ran between 15 and 17 seconds.

hey im just curious... ive read that these only produced something like 230 horse power, is that true?... seems like not a lot for a 7.5L V8...
lobzdik 1 year ago
@lobzdik No Way Jose....the 455SD was a SPECIAL motor....rated by Pontiac at only 310HP so it was insurable...it was rated by NASCAR at 475HP!!!!
My frind has a 1973 SD455 only 252 were built in 1973 and only about 900 in 1974! Only manufactured 2 years.
455Transam 1 year ago
@lobzdik the SD455 was factory rated at around 310ish but was more like 385ish
