  • very cool but i have to say i like the stock bridge better!!! anyway i absolutely love this classic vibe tele!

  • Hi where did you got this brass bridge. This guy has a internet site or any kind of contact ? I Thank you in advance

  • @alexnismachin look up Armadillo Brass Bridge and you'll find it.

  • She's a beauty.

  • brass bridge way too nasally

  • So the green shirt indicates that you're playing with the steel bridge and the blue shirt indicates the brass bridge. Got it! It's not like steel and brass are two radically different colors or anything..

  • I'm all for a brass bridge.. but I don't care for those saddles or the lack of the "ashtray" sides. I'm no electrical engineer, but I have to believe that the raised sides of ashtray bridges screw with the magnetic field somehow.

  • That's really cool, nice job!

  • Yup, you can hear the tonal differences right away. I noticed that when I first watched the Fender Custom Shop video on the Andy Summers Telecaster, which I'd practially sell one of my organs for (and I'd have to, considering how much it costs).

  • When comparing Message In a Bottle (nicely played btw), I feel that the brass bridge sounds a bit (or maybe even a lot) more nasal than the steel one. Were all the other factors (amp settings, strings, guitar settings etc) the same?

  • @camel747 great question! so there is one feature that did differ between videos because I wanted to try it out. I mounted the bridge pickup to the body, like Andy's, but I didn't have the proper screws (used the pickup mounting screws vs. wood screws) and I inverted the springs instead of using weather strips like Andy's. So the pickup is literally floating instead of resting on something. I have the proper materials now so can't wait to post the new vid. Stay TUNED! It's almost finished

  • Excellent comparison! I once made a brass bridge for my strat, but it gave such a rubbery tone that I made an identical one out of steel. That made a pretty big difference. Yours seems to sound great though. Perhaps due to the absence of the steel trem block... For easier comparison: Steel part 1: 3:18 Brass part 1: 3:38 Steel part 2: 3:57 Brass part 2: 4:21 Steel part 3: 4:50 Brass part 3: 5:07 Steel part 4: 5:24 Brass part 4: 5:56 Steel part 5: 6:28 Brass part 5: 6:36 Cheers!
  • According to the custom builders at Fender, the bridge plate on Andy’s Tele has a crack in it by the pickup hole (by the high E-string). Referens search:

    Andy Summers Tribute Telecaster® guitar

    Anyway Cool project!

  • @1989Goodspeed oh yes, I def. did my research and saw that many times, but I just can't bring myself to crack a bridge that cost me $140! I'm really curious as to how much that really affects the tone anyhow, but I suppose it can.

  • @ia5662 don't crack that beautiful brass bridge. if it cracks over time fine, otherwise shape the sound with your amp or an eq just like all our favourite players do. I think it enhanced the quality of the tone as is btw.great demos.

  • Well the reason i want a fender neck is because i prefer to play on maple, and the fender logo, preferably an older model, i also play bass, a musicman stingray 1977, with a great, aged maple neck, it looks awesome, that why i want in on my future telecaster too,

Any idea when your new video is comming about the tele with its new neck? very curious about what kind of neck it is.

  • @AbeWWII yep as soon as the back of the routing gets done to the back cavity for the extra electronics I'm putting in. I'll def. have a thorough video up.

  • Hey!,

I'm planning to buy this guitar too, and andy summers happens to be one of my favorite guitarists too!. I might aswell consider doing this project too!

  • @AbeWWII sweet man, let me know how it goes

  • @ia5662 I sure will!, although i probably wont get it untill 19th of november ( my birthday ) . Also another question, i was wondering how you're planning on getting a Fender telecaster neck, those things are above 600 bucks if you want a 70's neck, are you really gonna spent so many money on this project?

  • @AbeWWII no that's just the vintage necks, if I wanted it to be perfect, I would have gotten a 61 Tele neck made for me custom, but I ended up with a maple Nashville Tele neck. I'm happy with it, plays well and has the look and skunk stripe on the back. I got mine from the Stratosphere on eBay, they sell a TON of necks.

  • @ia5662 So these are even more expensive, i'm kinda looking for an extremely used, aged fender telecaster neck, with logo etc. Do you know any address with those kinds of neck but for under 100 bucks?

  • @AbeWWII I would honestly check eBay, but the quality of a neck that's priced for under 100 will not be great. Most decent necks start at around $150-$200, but that's still a pretty reasonable price.

  • to my ears i would say the squire bridge sounds better when i say better i mean it gives the tele the bright telecaster sound the brass bridge sounds more muted but i'm guessing thats due to the fact your palm is more-so on the strings and eventually your technique will find a way of compensating around that personally i would of left the bridge and changed the pickups instead

  • @stonedinsect yeah it's all personal taste, but new pickups are on their way very soon. Should brighten it up a bit, but this is intended to be and Andy Summers Tele, not the standard, twangy kind. So hopefully when all the pickups are installed and the electronics are wired, this thing will really get going. I just put a maple neck on it too, which has brightened it up a bit. I still love this guitar stock, I may get another just to have stock in the future.

  • Very cool! I can't wait to see the next video.

  • nice guitar though

  • @punkassSERBIA thank you, wait till you see the final product!

  • @ia5662 as soon as you post it

  • Let us all kill those 0 guys who disliked this video!!!!!!!!

  • big job if you want to adjust the height of the bridge pickup.

  • @telecasterbear yeah I aim to get it right the first time! It's a lot of trial and error to make sure I don't have to get under the bridge again. Just trying to make it as authentic as possible although I'm planning on using for all kinds of music, not just Police songs.
