  • at 3:25 I thought he was gonna play Sanford and Son hahahaha

  • 5:40

  • Wonderful!! ROLAND IS ROLAND...UNIQUE!

  • @atomix61 Nice! i'd like to know what song played at 3:41 - 3:56 ? very melodic

  • If you compare the gr-20 with the new Roland GR-55 the GR-20 looks like a toy and it is a childtoy. The GR-55 is made for professionals.

  • @kreschdruppreschd The GR-55 doesn't track as well as the GR-20. I have both.

  • @riff1957 I like my GR-55. It is perfect and tracking is very good!

  • When i see a thing like that i regret not being a shredder to make a Sonic or a Super Mario 8bit soundtrack.

  • keep pressing 4

  • Let's listen to some of these great sounds! (piano playing) (piano playing) (piano playing)

  • oh john !

  • is there someone who can give me a guitar pro tab or a guitar tab for the piano part from 0:33 to 1:02. PLEASE IT'S URGENT !!!!

  • @jimmyleppard6 use your ear. tabs will only take you so far.

  • everything sounds like it's from a cheesy 80's film or something... besides a few, I wouldn't buy it just from the sheer cheesyness of it all.

  • Comment removed

  • At 3:00 it sounds like sega genesis music.

  • I want tabs :D

  • Perfect for those who can't play the keyboard.

  • its a synth and makes its own sounds, yet he changes guitar throughout the video? still would really like one

  • sooooooooooooooo cheesy!!!!!!!

  • Awful Awful Awful...follow these 4 easy steps---guitar,marshall,ear splitting volume, annoy neighbours....half of this sounds like kenny bastard gee...

  • 6:02 NFL BLITS 2000 n64!!

  • BRASSSsss!! 3:03 hah

  • The basses and brass sound terrible. I'll pass.

  • ROBERT MARCELLOOOOOO :)

  • well since someone is a guitar player doesn't mean he's comfort to play with keyboards... and piano roll can be real hell sometimes... even with keyboards for someone that isn't really used to play on piano... velocities etc... are a painfull thing to do smtimes and editing needs soooooo much time :( GR20 can be a real solution:) i am thinking to buy it:)

  • what If a buy the Roland GK3 pickup without the Roland GR20? Can I synthesize via my PC with MIDI?

  • star wars soundtracks in a box

  • 2:35 made me laugh so hard! This would be awesome to have at home just goofing around with it.

  • do you know by any chance, how much for this?

  • @guitarralaraja About 600-700 dollars for the pedal, 150-200 for the pickup.

  • @guitarralaraja with a GK-3 pickup its like 800$

  • ok yes I can.

  • ok yes I can

  • can I do that without the pickup?

  • I want one of these

  • they're trying to kill the keytar :(

  • @alexjseguin

naa these things have been around for quite some time.

  • you can do all of this if you just plug into a computer hahaha

  • not everyone has a computer with a good interface for it though, or even the processing power in some cases.

  • Don't you need some sort of midi converter either way?

  • How? Instructions please on how I can make my guitar sound like all these instruments just by plugging into my computer? Please.

  • Hey can you recommend a program for that ? Ive been searching a bit for one.. Could be awesome if you helped me out :P

  • @schnurr31 really? hows that meant?

  • @schnurr31 not really but sure. You can play all your vsti's with this. Plugging into a computer can convert your recordings into midi data which can be transfered to an instrument, but actually playing the instrument live is an impossibility without this pick up.

  • what was the last sound!?! sounded like porn

  • 2:50 sounds like something that would be in the very first crash bandicoot for ps1 i love this thing! cant wait to open it up in 2 days

  • Rob Marcello can play every style with a lot of taste! Amazing musician is Robert!

  • its cool, but i want a piano sounds, I'll play a piano.

  • other than just goofing around, when would you ever use this

  • Pooxer do you record? This would be the ultimate tool!

  • whenever u can possibly plug the guitar in and play smart-ass.

  • Alot of possiblities...believe me..all wut u need is imagination and acceptance.

  • 5:13 the best

  • bad ass pedal!

  • cool

  • 3:36

  • where is the pick up on this video?

  • i was asking myself the same thing

  • the godin multiac series of guitar actually has midi capabilities and can function with out the pick up!

  • it's actually a Freeway SA (Godin), and many of the Godin models have the 13pin connector, not just the Multiac.

  • Thanks for the correction!

  • under his hand, it's not a pick-up persay, it's very thin and fits between the bridge pickup and bridge

  • 2:09 FUCKING EPIC

  • 3:09 sounds even more epic lol Rob Marcello rules

  • idk about u but did 2:35 remind you of party boy?

  • haha hell yea

  • @Electricguitarded yes it definatly does

  • i cant afford it ='/

and yess i do have a job but still cant afford it * sigh *

  • holy crap this is amazing! i want one! i play bass but i would definitely buy a guitar for it!

  • You can buy the Roland GK-3B which is the GK-3 pickup but for bass so that you can use the GR-20 for a bass.

  • 2:10 organ solo kickass, and the banjo part is hilarious

  • Roland Gr20 is cool! but Robert Marcello is great!!

  • I love the organ :)

  • LOL 2:34

  • Awesome !!! I love it !!!

  • at 5:40

what instrument was it representing? i forgot what it was called

  • Comment removed

  • Robert abi çok güzel çalıyor : )

  • still going strong....some good points about buying a keyboard or using a pc instead...we all have our own point of view in these matters...I didn't post to start slanging matches about this that & the other, which i'm glad hasn't happened like on many other posts i've seen...thats credit to u all...thanks...

  • man my pc can do all of these sounds lol its nor good to spend a lot money to that machine... "guitar rig" rules...

  • what song is that...the one that he plays on 1:26???

  • but you could buy a decent KEYBOARD synth for almost the same price as this unit... and you wont have to deal with pedal knobs and attaching anything to your guitar, and a synth has more sounds and is more versatile...

  • Comment removed

  • Okay...I'm fairly sure this is recent technology...but why in the hell is the video like something from the early 80's?! Even the voiceover is outdated. I'd love to see some examples of this stuff being used in music that doesn't sound like music on hold. My dream scenario is hooking up the GR-20 to the Thor in Reason 4. I wanna see someone do that...

  • i wanna see someone hook up a bass to it and get on the banjo or sitar setting O.o

  • do u think were stuoid wheres the gr20 control!!!! man there not gonna get good reviews i have one

  • its one of those godins with the piezo units that work as the actual synth pickup, so you just plug a midi cable into the guitats built in midi out

  • Gotta love the MC Hammer-style orchestra hits at 6:01

  • My thoughts exactly. I heard that and went "STOP! Hammer Time!"

  • lol 2:50 reminds me of crash bandicoot

  • yeah it kinds sounds like chrash team racing

  • Excellent demo! Any demo vids out there with the GR-20 being used with an acoustic guitar? Thanks for the vid! -Derek

  • Yah he is amazing.

  • Great, I'll buy it if I'll ever need to record a musical score for 80's porn movie.

  • Sweet. When you record that song for the porn can you make it sound like 2:34?

    It sounds damn sexy.

  • @manicmaser

    Win on so many levels

  • The bass simulation is an insult to bass players everywhere

  • LOL

  • the guitarist looks like a drunk hobo

  • Wats the guitar at 3:39

  • ibanez S series, custom?

    i think so...

normaly ibanez s series have IFN pick ups or V7

but that sems to be a S series whit EMG pickups

and whitout de medium single coil

thats fine because ibanez medium single coils really sucks

    reggards

  • it can do the bass!!!

  • so can a whammy pedal

  • @Krow 147:

Hahaha, I had to watch just for that part and I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Thumbs up lol

  • Damn, $700. I may look into buying this when I'm older but 'till then I'm just gonna buy an ESP :)

  • 5:40 cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • for something that costs $700, i'd expect it to not sound like it's straight from the '80s.

  • you can connect it via midi out to any synth i believe

  • Wooo......cool....

  • What is that epic-sounding shit at 6:04?

  • I'd buy this for that one setting.

  • The name of that MIDI sound is 'Orchestra Hit'

  • Holy shit those 2:08 neoclassical yngwie things. I HAVE TO GET THIS :D

  • the best part is the BOB part at 4:39 to 5:11 !!!

  • i was just thinking the same thing

  • BOB?

  • HAHAHAHH

  • i was asking who that was lol

  • i'm guessing you haven't seen twin peaks? do it.

  • Dont you need that pick up thing?

  • Oh i forgot, does this haves latency when you play?

  • Does anyone knows if is necessary to have the GK3 to use the same effects?

  • Ya, you have to have it, and I don't believe there's latency, but I could be wrong.

  • is there any guitar synth besides this one? this is too expansivo. can't afford it

  • It's the cheapest of all the synth pedals. Roland make a few more and Terratec make a really good one too.

  • is it just me or does he not have the pickup on some of his guitars? how does that work?

  • some guitars come 'roland ready' were the pickup is already installed thats y u cnt see it on some :P

  • Well, I bought a strat instead lol. But thanks for answering, anyhow. I still plan to get an F-50 one day.

    I bought my GR-20 for $650.

  • I have noticed the prices of the GR20 really vary...I went to Music Canarias here on the island and they wanted 600€..and the money upfront ..ok..NOT!!..ended up using Thomann in germany..they had the price of 455€ under spain, which the islands come under..but we have different taxes here, so in the end it was 372€ + 10€ import tax + 18€ our tax here...and that was for the kit..so look around for a good price b4 buying

  • 5:50 sounds like mortal kombat

  • I'm getting a GR-20 soon, but I'm also about to buy an ESP F-50. Will I have any problems installing the pickup on this guitar?? I want to be sure before I buy the F-50.

  • looking at a pic of the F50, looks like u should have no problem..u need at least 1cm between bridge and 1st pickup..and at least 1cm height..mine is fitted to a Jackson Rhoads DX10, but i waited till i needed a string change b4 i did installation.

  • get a roland gk3 you can put it onto the guitar without installing with 2 sided tape and it works perfectly

  • how much would these peices of kit set me back

  • 700 $

  • I would just use the patch @ 6:02 whenever someone said something important or shocking.

  • this guitarist cool

  • A Thought....I wonder if there would ever be a band just consisting of guitars all with GR20's??

  • can the synth do drums?

  • yeap

  • Rob Marcello. haha he's a hero!

  • Me too.

he's so incredibly modest, even though he is fucking AMAZING.

  • With one of those, i can play dream theater with my band without needing a Keyboard player!

  • All very well if you have fingers like a spiders legs and have been playing guitar since you were surrounded by amniotic fluid. 30 years I've been at it and still don't have a clue!

  • No, if you have no idea what you're doing after 30 years then you just practiced really badly or are just a failure at life, you should have given up at 10 years.

  • I do have a clue as it happens. Us Brits tend to hide our light under bushels...just a character trait

  • I've been playing for 35 years and still stick it under my chin lol...sorry i just had too

  • Is that the secret? Damn it's so obvious!!!!

  • if i ever get one of these(once i get myself a good prestige ibanez rg 2570z) i will first play with the sound at 6:10 and can any one tell me is the pickup a soldering type of process or just a screw in and play type like screw it in when you nedd it or take it out when you don't

  • you can check this out at Rolands website..download the manuals...but the pickup can be stuck down with sticky pads or screws....all comes with the pack..as well as spacers etc

  • The gk2a tracks a little better than the gk3 with this system. I have them both (err well, kept the gk2a, sold the gk3).

  • 2:02 to 2:23, Toccata And Fugue

  • hows the drums on this one? is it good?

  • Whats the name of the patch/sound at 1:26 ?

  • but bass sounds suck. I really don't like midi bass sound.

    haha I'm bassist :p

  • 3.20 sounds so fucking cool

  • That's without the GK-3 pickup, though, which you need to play the unit. Add another $175 at least for the pickup.

  • huh i dont get it, i know the one wiht GK-3 and the one w/o it but does it make a lot of difference?

  • this don't suck the tone if you conect it with pedals?

  • the roland gr20 is way too cool, but i must give my respect to that guitar player... he is very good!!!

  • legendary

  • 2:10 that sounds similar to a symphony x song... just the beggining

  • lol at 5:00 XD

    MIDI POWER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3:32 sounds just like my arse on fire whenever I drank too much lactose.

  • haha yeah thats the gay sax. the other sax on that thing pretty much sounds close to real though. i have 1 and theres actually a lot of kool sounds that are built in

  • You can get this at musicians friend for 595 bucks now.

  • i got it 4 $500 at this little local music store. i guess i got a deal!

  • 6 stars for this!

  • It all sounds like cheesy porno music.

  • nah it sounds pretty good in person. but i know what u mean 4 some of the sounds haha

  • Thanx,,another toy for midi maniacs like mee!!!

  • about £450 ($900) for both the processor and the pickup

  • $595 USD for both the processor and pickup :D

  • jesus we get ripped off in the uk

  • como cuanto vale uno de esos?

  • I don't know where to find a good deal on one

  • i love the bass one!!!

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • 1st post! :O

(lqtm) this thing is amazing, i never thought u could make a guitar sound like this, thank god they have bass pickups for it!

  • Yea the GK-3B pickup.

I just ordered mine! The store said mid april I seriously can't wait. Like I'm watching every video on it, I've like soo studied this thing.
