This was my first Castlevania and it's still my second favorite even after I've played most of the other ones. Only SotN beats it, really. This game had the BEST music and it was so nice to look at...super challenging and great magic system too! This game really had it all.

I haven't played the GB Castlevania games in a while it took me many tries to get pass the first boss and now i'm stuck on the..3rd boss i believe it is? The one the Hugh got beat up by XDDD Even though i'm having some troubles with the boss, i really like this game I just wish it had a bestiary that told you about the monsters you kill and what they drop D:

first time i played this, i died nearly every time i started and was like "OMFG!! The enemies r liek sooo owerpowered!!! ROFLZOMFG!!" But now i`ve got some armor and 3 cards (damn low drop rate those cards) which is mercury and salamander/mandragora. Those mixes make whip fire (salamander) and thorn whip (mandragora). They both give some damage but mandragora is stronger than salamander.

i've already beaten this game, just wanted to see how others did it, it was really awesome, but only know one glitch :-(... that glitch btw is if u don't have a card or two u can still use them, all u do is when u have 2 u do have selected, as u turn on DSS u click start imediately after u press the special ability button, then switch to two cards u already got... im a lv 78 vampirekiller :-l... also, i hate shooter mode... it's freakin' impossible...

This is my favorite Castlevania of all time. I love every single one of the tracks and levels. The card system was amazing and it was a really big castle to explore. 10/10 in my books.

The only problem with the castle is it's general WTF worthly layout. The upper half is all HOW THE HELL DOES THIS WORK WITH THE LAWS OF PHYSICS and the lower half is all HOW THE HELL IS THE PLACE NOT GETTING CRUSHED BY ALL THE DIRT AND ROCK.

Personally, I like this better. AoS kicks ass, but CotM is a much darker game. It has a more... eerie and traditional Castlevania sense to it, in my opinion of course.

Use the slide a bit more, and drop through platforms a bit more as well. You'll notice you'll be taking a lot less damage if you can time both those moves and dealing more damage to them with the slide.

This GBA game has alot of nostalgia value. In this first part alone, you get some of the old tracks from previous games like the intro from N64, 2:20 is one from C3. Then you've got the whip flailing feature from C4, and there's even a familiar power up sound effect when you level up from C1 (the whip upgrade SE).
