He does sound a lot like JB... and he even has a similar sense of humor with what he says, and if this is JB, he obvioulsy doesnt want us to know it so stop haha
And secondly, this was posted in another one of gearmandude's videos and I want to clarify something...
"It could be Jack Black. Think about it. How many people have the money to go out and buy a "pile of digitech and danelectro pedals" just to do a gear demos with?"
That's completely hilarious. Digitech and Dan Electro pedals ARE CHEAP. Anyone with a job could afford one. You people make it out like this guy is sitting on a pile of cash, THEY DO SEND HIM STUFF TO DEMO AS WELL!
Come on people!! This is NOT Jack Black. Have you even payed any attention to his voice compared to this guy? In fact, I like this guy a lot more than JB. Just because this guy has a good sense of humour doesn't mean he HAS to be someone you know of, or saw in a movie. Live life, people!
GMD, little amps always sound thin and midrangey, no bottom end no heavy tone that this pedal just drips. Notch the mid slightly around 1:00, bass up about 3:00 and treb below fizz, like you would adjust a metal zone properly. Through a clean channel tube and decent cab this pedal burns dark and heavy.
Definitely a tweakers pedal, which usually indicates crap tone if the dials are turned indiscriminately. Like the Metal Zone and other pedals with mid-freq sweep capabilities, it's all too easy to dial up a shrill fizzy mess with these but spend enough time with it and you'll find the sweet spot and it really can make a tube amp sing. One thing I love about these Hardwire pedals is they don't get overpowered by high output pickups like most dirt boxes. They can handle getting slammed.
@ayohi Some pedals can't handle high output pickups without serious clipping right from the get go. In those cases, you can't get anywhere near mid-level on the gain knob with your guitar's own volume dimed because the pickup is slamming the input of the pedal too aggressively. You can back off the guitar volume or back off the gain on your pedal but why get a metal pedal if you can only get 30-40% of its gain before it starts farting? I prefer the Hardwire for this reason.
@Carcassfan891 Yeah man I bought 2 of their albums from listening to GMD's demos, Bone Hair n Hide and Crazy Sexy Baby. Great stuff definitely worth checkin out!
u can actually get great sounds out of this pedal if u know what the fuck ur doing tone wise which this douche cake def does not. he needs a guitar tech like pronto. none of these motherfuckers know tone.
i had this tl-2 hard wire and didnt sound good to me, i took it back and got heavy metal master, and this one sounds way better for me than the tl 2.
hard wire had too much crunch to it and i wanted it more chug chug rather than crunch so if you want to get chug chug sound get heavy metal master if you want crunch get hard wire tl-2 .
i prefer the metal zone by boss i liked the review he did on it and i could find sound checks on it that sounded good
i would like to try the digitech and compare them though but the digitechs ive had in the past sucked so much tone away so i stayed away from them so yea
@Alphastyx7 Death Metal pedal killed my tone so i say stay away from it. Metal Master is not bad but still doesnt have the sound control like the TL-2.
have an am. strat with noiseless pickups into a fender stage 100 clean channel. Just picked up one of these and man its extremely noisy on the tight setting, Loose is quiet. Hmmm...
i have one, Digitech Hardwire Metal TL 2. That is my fav pedal. i play it with jackson DKMG dinky with Dr String Red Devil. hahahaha checkout at my cover
can i use this pedal on my line 6 spider 3, i hate myself for buying that amp but im stuck with it, and i want to know if i can plug in normal pedals like this into it, or can i only use line 6 brand pedals
you can use any pedals with any amp. modelling amps like the spider do not handle pedals well however, and this pedal does not sound much better then your onboard crunch or metal channel.
my mate has Line 6 Spider 3 30W. He just bought an MXR Fullbore Metal pedal and.. T SUCKS...sounds terrible with the Line 6. he tried it on my Vypyr (same 30W) and it's meh acceptable (i dont like the pedal overall) . Im affraid your stuck with the Line 6 stuff mate. it's a Digital amp so getting a pedal that will work well with it might be a challenge... I'm looking for a distortion pedal for gigging (Provided Marshalls) and home use (Vypyr) now . all i can say.. you chose a WRONG DIGITAL AMP1
@ScubaSteve431 i got one as my first amp. worst mistake EVER. the tone changed EVERY day, so i had to dial it in anytime i wanted to play, and then the tone just sucked. its not even a good started amp
Line 6 sounds really fake to me. It's all about modeling and not about tone. The effects in the amp are very limited and don't sound that great anyway. You're better off getting something else.
unfortunately you're not using the right kind of amp for all these metal pedal demos and therefore not doing justice to any of the pedals, the Jaguar Jr has a Greenback speaker which is not meant for metal at all, if anything you should've used the Jaguar Lead, which uses a Vintage 30 and 6L6's tubes
all these pedals weren't just meant for "heavy distortion", there are plenty of pedals that are capable of heavy distortion that work beautifully with greenbacks because of the pedal's voicing (Fulltone OCD, for example) The pedals being reviewed are factory voiced to be bass-heavy regardless of how you use their tone stack (because of their voicing/pre distortion-EQ), which the greenbacks will struggle with, the problem here is the pedal voicing,
Okay people, listen up. I owned the Boss MT-2 because I was a noob and thought it was t3h br00t4lz. A few months later, I played the Hardwire TL-2. The Metal Zone now sounds like shit to my ears, and I have sold it. The TL-2 is definitely better. SO STOP ARGUING!
@hiitsmcjosh i hate the metal zone i compaered it to the digitech metal master when i was first getting a distortion stompbox and price and sound digitechs 10xs better, metal zone got to much bite and really only sounds like kill switch and i hate them to lol
@hiitsmcjosh both sound like arse. just place a decent overdrive or boost pedal in front of a cranked tube amp. all the crunch you could possibly want
@hiitsmcjosh You never now though, one man's trash may be another man's treasure. For example, some people think this or the Boss MT-2 sound good. I happen to think they both sound terrible. It's just not my tone.
The only exception is like starter guitar + starter amp, and even people have managed to sound decent on those. Based on that, I think it's more of a subjective matter and how good the player is to begin with.
This sounds like the MT-2, which I am not a big fan of.
By the way, Boss doesn't just make shitty pedals. Distortions are terrible, yeah. Except a Keeley modded Blues Driver. Delays and verbs are decent, and I've always really dug the CS-3. Not a big Boss fan overall though.
Though I think your opinion will change in the near feature, especailly when you play somemthing like a Mesa, Diezel, Engl, Peavey, or a good Marshall.
i just started playing resently, bought a used peavey amp at a secondhand shop for twenty bucks, the guy had a amp just like yours, and he only wanted $30 bucks for it. wow he really must know what he has. first thing in the morning, im going back a buying it!!!!!!!!
i sold my boss mt-2 after i heard this pedal, i never looked backed. i also have a nother pedal board, it has the electro harmonix micro metal muff. it sounds the most ntrul of all three however it has the least shaping tools. so its a trade off. eh has the regular metal muff, which is the best, but it is NOT compact so i didnt think it fare to compare it. msr realerased the fullbore, built in noise gate. never tried it, although it looks very cool
Dude, you sound like Jack Black, pretty cool, also, I think the best tone is when the gain is just good enough set for staccato picking, and with the mid frequency on one o' clock and the mid with it, the bass bit cranked and the treble cut. But I did that whilst ajusting the pedal accordingly to my guitar and amp
is not "A" good way or not "ALWAYS" a good way, for that is the question you pile of pumpernickle bread from the anus of Michael Jackson where Puff the magic Dragon lies.
damn right. I live so far up your anus that God's like OMFG... then he truns into candy and shits little donkeylings which trasport themselves to happy meals which then spontaniously combust and spin a round singning "O come all ye faithful."
listen too gothdude i tryed this pedal it blew my mind away and then tryed out the metal core on the same amp and guitar and it couldnt cut it , the digitech is much better!

drop mids will always succeed, try it.

dropping mids is not a good way to metal up your sound imho

is not "A" good way or not "ALWAYS" a good way, for that is the question you pile of pumpernickle bread from the anus of Michael Jackson where Puff the magic Dragon lies.

lol in what pile do you belong? In the pile of "i-say-whatever-i-want-cause-nobdy-sees-me" breed?
topografer 2 years ago
damn right. I live so far up your anus that God's like OMFG... then he truns into candy and shits little donkeylings which trasport themselves to happy meals which then spontaniously combust and spin a round singning "O come all ye faithful."

Believe me, my brother owns a Boss distortion pedal, and after seeing this, I started thinking, "Ha! Beat that!"
lucarioxryuu1 2 years ago
My friend has this pedal and my Boss MT-2 murders this pedal...And I don't really like the MT-2.
