How do you get the programs to switch without the desktop being shown for a short instant? I have a Sandy Bridge 2.66 ghz so my comp isnt slow by any means.
Whenever I switch, my desktop or whatever programs I have beneath XBMC is shown for maybe a few milliseconds.
@asdfxyz1 Nope. I am using an old sata drive I had sitting around. If I were to rebuild these computers I would be using a passively cooled CPU like the new AMD Hudson, a fanless power supply, and a SSD to cut down on noise.
@asdfxyz1 I had the same problem. Whatever method you were using would close the old program or window before it opened the new program or window. That's why it showed your desktop in between changes. This method opens the new window first and closes the previous window in the background, so the switch looks seamless.
I understand everything except starting the button mapping. I've never done it on a harmony remote. I've mapped on controllers before.
My dumb question is how do you actually get to the part where you map the remote. I'm assuming you do it through some software on your HTPC but would just like to have an idea on how that works.
@mezonesxbox XBMC started out on an xbox, but delevopment was recently dropped. Its primarily PC based now. If you want to try it on a PC without changing anything, there is a live CD you can just boot from. There are also mac, windows and linux versions.
Also, I was thinking about a dual core AM3 processor, is this what you have? If so what speed and how much RAM, I know you mention that it lags. Also is it an onboard video?
Hello, I am just wondering how you can turn your on your PC with a remote? Is it just in a lower power state or does it turn it off from no power? Also, do you know if it works with Ubuntu linux the hulu and netflix?
Great post I have been looking through forums for months now and this was exactly what I needed,. However I have one little problem the when I launch the XBMC script with nothing else running it launches real quick then I launch Netflix script it and same thing. The problem is when I go from Netflix to XBMC it launches XBMC quick then the screen goes black
@shaxs Thanks I had to tweak it slight but the method works well. Here is the exact syntax I used C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe /url:windowsmediacenterapp:{e6f46126-f8a9-4a97-9159-b70b07890112}\{982ea9d3-915c-4713-a3c8-99a4688b7c59}?EntryPointParameters=
feel free to check out the video i just sent you of my setup as i've got xbmc and hyperspin running together. Also thanks again for your help with the netflix.
I really like your setup. I have been looking to do something similar. Like you, I want something that my girlfriend can easily sit down and navigate without too much stress. lol
for some reason the link is dead. really like the setup. I've got hulu running np. but, cant find a tut on how to integrate netflix any help would be appreciated.

@asdfxyz1 I'm not sure that is all possible (sorry for late reply)

@shaxs But yours switches instantly. Are you on a HDD or SSD?

how did you get netflix to auto launch when open windows media center
jig1056 1 year ago
@jig1056 Create a bat file to launch directly to the Netflix plugin in Windows Media center. Open up Notepad in Windows and type:
Start windowsmediacenterapp:{e6f46126-f8a9-4a97-9159-b70b07890112}\{982ea9d3-915c-4713-a3c8-99a4688b7c59}?EntryPointParameters=
Save the file as netflix.bat (or whatever you want). Just make sure it is saved as a .bat file.
