  • I lol'd so hard at the comment about him needing a coach for a shoulder press haha

  • His range of motion is right. Just look at photos how arnold did it - nit the dumb fitness coaches they have no brains/

  • Your range of motion is wrong. The starting position is palms facing you, like you had just performed a double-arm bicep curl. You then rotate 180 degrees as you lift the weight above your head.

Props, though, for the weight. I've done Arnolds with 65 pounds for 8 reps, 5 sets.

  • nice!

  • I do like 40s with Arnold Press.. those are tough.

  • good set good form keep it up!

  • Note to self, don't rob the bank this guy works at.

  • horizontal adduction**

  • shouldnt lock your elbows, takes tension off the shoulders.

  • @Basfoo That's exactly why u shouldnt lock out your elbows. You don't want to take the tension of the shoulders. 1. You ARE working out shoulders so why would you avoid working them out in the exercise and 2. You also can cause damage to elbows.

  • @ExKon3 thats what i said haha :)

  • why is the twisting in "arnold presses" more effective than straight up and down db press?

  • @DistortedBrain It works out the front of the shoulder muscles (interior) more than the regular should press.

  • @ExKon3 you mean anterior right

  • @ExKon3 because interior is not an anatomic term that could be used to describe any part of the shoulder, for you and anyone else are three heads anterior, medial and posterior.

  • @ExKon3 ohh and your totally wrong, the shoulder press will always stress medial fibers, regardless of the slight variation.it may cause slight activation of anterior fibers, but they are certainly not the "major mover'. Anterior [not interior] fibers are stressed through horizontal abduction of the shoulder joint, i.e pushing forward. Its simple kinesiology.

  • @TheHypertrophy Yea its anterior, forgot that for when I was in 9th grade 7 years ago. Am I totally wrong? RLY? So the Arnold doesn't work out the anterior muscles in the shoulder more than a regular shoulder press? Btw, that's not how to use brackets properly.

  • @ExKon3 that's alright some of us re-learn it in basic anatomy at university. Yes, your totally wrong, arnold press simply gives the medial deltoid a stronger eccentric contraction. When the wrist rotates internally on the eccentric phase it this causes the bicep brachii to contract, lengthening the medial deltoid more on the eccentric phase. Giving it a greater range of movement, meaning better muscle fiber sitmulaion.

  • @ExKon3 As expressed before. The anterior head is sitmulated via horizontal adduction or extension of the shoulder joint neither of these movements occur in the Arnold press. Btw, i understand you pointing out my minor grammatically error is a form of compensation. It's ok, we cannot always be right : )

  • By locking your arms, you take away the pressure on the delts. Arnold's should never be locked out at the top, if you dont lock them, there will be more pressure on the shoulders.

  • good form with massive weight.

  • exercise alone?thats dangerous!get a coach!

  • @syah143

    A coach? for shoulder press?

  • @ExtremistPullup i think he meant spotter.

  • @syah143

    lol why!

  • Are you supposed to lock out your elbows?

  • @mullbenkt no

  • This is for shoulders, right ?

  • Try the clean and press with those dumb bells. You'll become even stronger.

  • This guy's a fucking beast. I can only press that weight for 1 rep unconvincingly, at 169lb.

  • You are very strong but with an Arnold press, you do not lock out the elbows, this keeps the strain on the shoulders, just don't go all the way up and it would be perfect.

  • i thought you were supposed to put the dumbels in front of your chest after raising it above your head? not infront of biceps? correct me if im wrong, i actually dont know, trying to know this workout as i'm starting a new program. thanks in advance for any NONHATE replies.

  • @justinisjin

these DB are plated loaded so I can't get them next to one another. But I see what you mean.

  • powerhouse!!!!! nice dude

  • nice work man! great control

  • C'mon, I want to see two more reps! ;-)

  • In my opinion it's not necessary to close dumbells so much, keep the arms flexed: your shoulders will thank you.

The Arnold Press is more a concentration exercise. If you like power exercises (and that's right) start with an explosive barbell close grip standing military press.

  • what do you do for living extreme?

  • @PuttPunjabi123

    banker

  • @ExtremistPullup i aint robbing your bank

  • @ExtremistPullup banker? lol that is extreme... in these current times

  • your super strong but the way the weights keep spinning a bit at the top looks like it might be a little bad for your shoulders.

  • I use different clamps not but I don't think they were sliding.

  • Damn Nice Upper Body! Very Powerful!!!

  • dude ur ripped ! u look like u train alot ! nice work!

  • nice i can 60's for 8 reps and im 511 150, impressive love this lift...

  • Naturaly build muscles... thats at least 5 months RLY hard work. But it pays off :D U get 3x more strenght with 3x lower muscles than body builders :D

  • snap i do those with like 35's and its hard as hell

  • those are arnold presses

    which is hella impressive

  • @damnthisshitsucks
