  • Just stumbled across this by accident, I live in Norwich, very glad you enjoyed yourself, looks/sounds like it too. Spencers is bad ass. x

  • I'll remember this night always.

  • Ha ha ha - I subscribed then found this - I was born near Norwich & it was my stomping ground in my formative years (20 odd years ago, ahem). I don't remember having been to Spencer's, but hey, I don't remember a lot of that time. Cool - there's stil a music scene. Other pubs like Whites, The Festival House & even the Mischief Tavern all stopped doing live music. Shame on them & a big shout to Spencer's!

  • OHHH DUDE I live there! love hades! awesome vid

  • what is that primus tune?

  • man your pissed out of your fuckinghead

    but your awesome

  • hahaha thats pretty cool

    musics awesome too

  • Rofl loved that you really had the guts and CLASS to pull Peace Sells in a pub in England xD

  • Sorry to say you cannot look the tabs up for this. I write it and performed it a week ago.

  • what? you came to norwich rob? haha i live 6 miles from there! how random!, ive been in spencers before, man, i wish i would have went and seen you, you are my biggest youtube inspiration, next time you're here let me know! lol

  • Sorry I didn't tell anyone then. I honestly thought that there was no way anyone who has seen me on youtube would be in Norwich, so I never said a thing.

  • Brother that was GREAT !!!!!!!!!

  • Looks like you had a "Jolly 'ol time". I liked the Slingblade parts the best...

  • That made me smile haha, jolly good show!

  • hahha awesome man

  • lol dude even drunk and not knowing the song it wasnt that bad you still kick ass

  • Dude, I didn't know you were a biologist! I'm going into MCDB myself, that and Neuroscience. Very cool that you got noticed, hope it went well.

  • How random that you ended up in Norwich of all places! I lived there for a year. Was the conference at UEA?

  • It was at the John Innes research center located right next to the UEA.

  • hehe that bass flubb in the beggining sounds like hamburger train mixed with guerilla radio ^^

  • Yeah, I consider "French Fried Potaters" to be my version of Hamburger Train...and like Les, I did it in one take, so there are a couple of flubbed notes.

  • Hey, couldn't not post a comment to return the kudos Rob is so generously throwing our way! It was just as much a pleasure for us, having him hang out with us and play for us. A very cool guy( (despite being a 'bug geek' ;0) ) that we're all pleased to be able to count as our friend. Rod'll be chuffed that you dig his harp playing too! Thanks again for the vid Rob.

  • Thanks so much y'all. I am glad that you liked the video. Only a small thing to pay back your hospitality. Took me a couple of days to write the background tune and get the video editing done, but I am happy with the results. It is just not sufficient to post the videos without spinning the tale.

  • Wow... Rob, I wouldn't picture you as a scientist... Well, I guess that explains how you can afford a Rickenbacker

  • Many of my scientist colleagues could not picture me as a rack musician, so I guess my ruse is working :)

BTW....no, I could not afford a Rickenbacker on my salary. I bought mine when I was a teenager.

  • haha with that peace sells solo you sounded like led zeppelin

  • The living or dead members? LOL.

  • the original members.. dont know if there dead or not.. i dont follow zeppelin, just metallica, megadeth, flotsam Jetsam, and iron maiden

  • LOL @ Rod's YouTube link having the word "tit" in it.

Sorry, I'm immature at times :)

Congrats on the trip and such.

  • I noticed it, too, so you are not alone in your sophomorism.

  • Wow that was cool! Loved the bass version of Peace Sells!

  • Were you really singing Peace Sells?

  • Yes, I was.....not the wisest thing I ever did...lol.

  • Nothin' personal, and maybe it was just the booze, but maybe you should stick with backup vocals.

  • lol

  • 2:38 he threw a spark on his bass. fuckin cool did he do that on purpose

  • how in the heck do you do that??

  • Dunno how I did it...just played slap style. I was clear the slap was not working well on that bass, and I gave it up soon afterwards. All basses are set up differently, and this one had pickups awful close to the string....I guess that is where the spark came from...that and perhaps faulty grounding.

  • you played good for being drunk i play better drunk atleast to me it sounds better i bet if i wasnt drunk and everyone else was id be epic btw was that u singing the piece sells part?

  • LoL thats awesome story, too bad bout the matchbox 20 tho,lol I always expect them Brits to be in the hardcore scene, since Reading Festival n Download Festival is held in England. I woulda busted out some Pudding Time!!!

  • There's so much drunken gold in this vid! the peace sells section had me rolling.

  • Hey Rob thanx for sharing that cool experience! Nice improv too - particularly enjoyed the blues jam. Did ya visit Charlotte? ;)

  • LOL...no, I stayed out of trouble.

  • hehe guinness

  • LOL Giles has the SAME Pearl Jam shirt as me LOL

  • Hope we treated you well Rob :P

  • Yes, you did. Brings tears to my eyes sometimes to see a community that cares about each other like I saw in Norwich. I would not trade the experience for anything.

  • Rock dude, though I live in PA my heritage is like 95% english and i know how much fun you can have at one of those pubs

  • I am just sad that I could only spend three days there.

  • Nearly all my relatives live out there so I spend weeks at a time, only once every two or three years but still plenty good :)

  • That's pretty awesome that you got to do all that! I don't know many people here that'd let any random American into their private birthday party!

I just wish I could see a bit better.

How'd you find the UK anyway?

  • Rod is a special kinda guy. I'm hoping a couple of y'all wander into his youtube video. A gentleman that nice could use some supprt, and I owe him for the great time.

I LOVED the UK....fell absolutely in love with Norwich. A very different lifestyle than the US, but that is precisely what I loved about it so much.

  • Good to hear, man. :D

And I checked out Rob's video. It's pretty phenomenal. I don't think I've ever seen somebody properly play the harp, let alone so well.

  • Thank god for pubs and Maiden! :D

  • I so agree with that!
