I tried to spray paint the knobs and sterring wheel of my 72' Bug using plastic paint but it started dripping...The metal interior of the car is pearl white and the parts I want to change to that same colour are black, please help!! I want to do it at home- in the cheapest way, obviously :)
Also - do you have tips on how to remove a dash pad in a 68? A video tutorial would be great! Mine is in great shape minus the vents (which I know are seperate pieces) and the area right under the glove compartment - for some reason that are ripped right along the length of the glove box and the painted dash behind shows). I'm thinking a replacement is the only way to go.
@MoreciB There are just 8 screws that hold the dash pad on, just take them out. Also take all knobs off, then get a set of needle nose pliers to take off the chrome circular things that hold the switches on, plus the chrome speedo ring and you should be good.
This is off topic, but what do you use to remove excess carpet glue residue on the inside of the car? I want to get as much off it off as possible along the edges of the carpet where it might be visible.
Thanks Chris. I will give it a try. I've been using a product called FLITZ It a touch expensive. It you can use it on everything from glass to paint. Chrome and aluminum are the standard uses.
@mrwilltheboss1 NOT true! They are so much fun to drive! It's like driving a go-cart. Don't expect it to be like driving a modern car though. You need to drive defensively, give yourself extra stopping distance (drum breaks) and leave extra space to pull out. It's a blast to drive them :)
@mrwilltheboss1 Chris has a great series on what to look for when buying a bug. I highly suggest to take a look at them before you buy one. Good luck!
