I thought I recognised this! Manchester! Finally a pipe presenter from around my way! I gather you may have moved since this video though! Shame there's no pipe club around here I'd love to join one!
Nice one Jim, I spent quite a few years in Chester, great place. Manchester always reminds me of wild parties as a student.... although I never studied in Manchester... I were in Blackpool of all places... loads of laughs in the winter !
Jim, do you wander around the centre of the city, smoking your pipe? I often go into Manchester, but seldom see fellow pipe smokers, which is a pity. Mind you, given my age (69, been smoking pipes since I was 16) and my build etc (chubby grey bearded) it reinforces the stereotype; you however would do wonders for the pipe smoking fraternity's image.
Enjoyed the video Jim, very well done. While you were trekking around London, I was puffing a couple of folded MacBaren's Club rolls in one of my 'plywood boats' (Ozark Mountains) an excellent combination. Gordon's and water on the side.
never expected this to be manchester when i clicked on it. was wondering which european or world city it must be until you showed the tramlines and art gallery. i bought my first pipe and baccy at aston's back in april.
Can't belive I didn't find this video until now! Makes you wonder what else YT robbed me of. Amazing tour Jim! I really like the architecture. Umeå feels like DDR in comparison. The tobacco shop blew me away!
In my hometown, Chicago, anything over 65 years old is considered a monument of some kind. Now living in Tokyo, I see shrines that are hundreds of years old...history scattered all over the place.
Looks as though you had one heck of a day in town! Great tour. Imagine the times when people took the time and effort to create such wonderful architecture.... *sigh* Cant wait to see what you picked up from the tobacconist.
Great video, Manchester does have some great Victorian architecture, the Gothic style Town hall is fantastic. Also, what a great tobacconist you have there.
In my nearest town Glasgow the last proper tobacconist closed 2 yrs ago. I now have to get my tobacco online or when on holiday. Many thanks for your interesting, informative videos.
650 sterling for a Dunhill shell briar....my God. Like I thought a Dunhill in England would be 300-400. The dress pipe was 750...I just saw one go on Ebay, mint condition for €75...why so expensive?
Many thanks, Tim. Got the impression (perhaps erroneous) from a comment that you might be having discombobulations so I hope all is well with you and looking forwad to your next vid.
Thank goodness I don't have a tobacconist like that near me :-)

that is the best selection of pipes and pipe tobacco I have ever seen. The shops out here are 2 to 3 times bigger with half or less of the selection.

I love seeing the different architecture in Britain compared to Canada, much more historical and interesting. Way to go Jim!

I don't know much about the line, but underneath it says "91 of 500" so perhaps it is some kind of limited run?
