Argh, my Peke has fleas right now and despite giving him flea baths, going over his coat with a flea comb, and using that Natural Green Flea Spray from Sergeants, I might have to shave him...so sad to see the coat go but he still scratches WAY too much even with hydrocortisone spray. I guess that's where my Pompek got his personality. Whenever I'm sitting on the bench, he always jumps, sits next to me and rests his head on my lap for me to pet him. By the way Pompeks are a breed but I hardly ever hear of them. Their mainly Pomeranian and Pekingese, hence Pompek.

I have to disagree with some of this video. I have a 3 year old male Pek, Milo who was easy to train, hardly EVER barks, comes on command, and is VERY good with the neighborhood children as well as my 2 & 4 year old grandchildren. Milo only barks lightly when he is out in the fenced yard and wants to come in or when we are playing with him. If he starts to chew something or do anything he shouldn't, a quick "no" and he stops, never to do it again. I couldn't be happier with Milo.

I love my pekingese so much i have had her since i was 15 got her as a birthday present and shes been my best friend my whole life. When i moved from the city to the contry i was doubting if she would like it but she ended up loveing to run in the woods and play with the chickens shes much happier out in the country and a great place to live for the rest of her remaining years, pekes are one of the best breeds i have ever had. Very amuseing as well and they all have there own personalities!!!

I would disagree of some of the points in the video, but I would say they ARE STUBBORN. Our peke died in Feb after 16yrs. He lived with heart failure this last year but was a strong willed doggie. In his prime he loved long walks, but then we kept his fur cut short (much like a puppy cut) so that 1, he did not track stuff in, 2, it reduced the heat stress on him. Check his vidoes out

I just recently lost my Peke, at age 18-l/2. He was such a wonderful buddy. He was a burgandy black, and was filled with love and joy. I look forward to getting another one, soon. He was such a wonderful personality, and also loved running and romping outdoors with me. Yes, PEKINGNESE FOREVER!! You guys know you just can't help but love them.... so awesome!

The other good thing about a peke, is that when they are aroused, they have a BIG dog bark. Standing on the otherside of a door you do not know how big they really are from their bark as they do not have a high pitched bark when angry like a poodle or bichon. I always would say to my wife that our peke had a full "tail to nose" bark.
