learning jiu jitsu for SELF DEFENSE against drunken morons is a waste of time and money. street fighting is not complex like that, all it is is pushing them back with devastating shots [maybe to the throat or balls if u feel really in danger] or if you feel u might get KO'd take his ass down and pound him out like i said [drunken tough guys are just drunken tough guys] as far as MMA goes, bjj is deff a good idea..u can get a lot of easy "wins" that way against guys that aren't great @ bjj.
Wrong, like I said before even stand up takes technique. Throwing a double leg and getting mount is also again technique. As for "easy" wins go Jiu Jitsu is far from easy. Especially if someone is throwing punchs at you in the guard or even a person who trains mma.
Everything has a technique. I never said it wasn't. LOL Show me a BJJ black belt and i'll show u a million guys he can submit...unless he's just a complete pussy. If you can't take a couple arm punches, you should find a new hobby because MMA is not for you.
Now that we've understood that the people who pick fights don't really know how to defend them selves and just revert to violent shoving and slabbing there arms around like mad men 95% of the time, [iv' never seen a trained fighter pick a fight in my life]..I can always handle my self in a street fight 1 on 1..if he's landing blows and i feel like im hurt i shoot a double leg, full mount and land blows until he's out, says uncle, or a sombody breaks it up. [usually a bouncer]
Excuse me? Your telling me an art that beat all the others in the early ufc is not fighting? There is something seriusly wrong with you if you think it is not fighting. Also just to remind you Rorion Gracie created the ufc which is a Jiu Jitsu master. You do not know the reality of ground fighting at all.
You can also run up to sombody and lassou them like a cowboy, if you learn how to do it properly. It still doesn't make u a fighter IMO. Grappling is for guys that don't have the heart to stand up and fight like a man.
What are you talking about Jiu Jitsu is still hand to hand combat. Also just to let you know 9 out of 10 fights always end up on the ground even in a street fight situation. So if you don't know how to protect your self on the ground you are screwed. You are just to blind in the reality of it, you just like all the flashy punch's and kicks. Sometimes that is not the way to go especially when the dude is stronger and bigger then you.
9 out of 10? Not the ones iv' seen. LOL and if they do end up on the ground it's sombody getting slammed and kicked. Here's a good point for you, and if you still argue after this, there's no use responding. LOL *I DON'T EVER PICK FIGHTS and neither do real trained fighters. Not any of the ones I know anyway. We have nothing to prove. It's the drunken rejects that had a bad week that pick fights in clubs and shit and I can promise you im not losing to them 1 on 1 95% of the time.
Exactly and if you don't know how to correctly defend your self against those slams or kicks then you are going to get beat the fuck out of. I never said that a person should go pick a fight. Thats just stupid but if someone is in your face and won't leave you alone then you have to know how to correctly defend your self. Even in stand up muay thai there is a right and wrong way to fight. It's not just simply throwing your fist there its technique.
Slams? Drunken idiots don't know how to slam. The point is to NOT end up on the ground. Bang him out with punches to sensitive areas and double leg and follow with g&p if neccessary. Dude, enough with this technique stuff. Everything takes technique. I never said it didn't. I personally train Muay thai for many reasons and @ this point it's 100% instinct and iv' proved it several times against drunken idiots that had somthing to prove.
All pro MMA fighters cross train in some sort of grappling. It is absolutely necessary. There is a reason why Royce Gracie was kicking everyone's ass in the first UFC's. You said you train in Muay Thai? What is a Muay Thai Clinch? Answer: Grappling
I train BJJ, and I do some various standup stuff. I want to know how to standup, and I want to be able to go to the ground. It's retarded to limit yourself to one.
I wouldn't say he was kicking ppl's asses, but yeah he established a great record of submission wins [which are still wins] but not "ass kicking". Touche-Clinching is grappling. yupyupyup
U mean Sylvia? Yeah Silvia is a females name, moron. If u had a brain you'd realize this comment was posted 8 months ago, so no im not still on here giving shitty MMA oppinions, nor were they shitty, when i WAS giving them. Don't hate.
@znjfl My mistake. I just hear it a lot. Very weak attempt at finding anything about me to talk shit about. It's all too common w/ you jiu jitsu fan boys. Lesnar vs. pretty much any JJ HW. Carwin vs. pretty much any JJ HW. Cain vs pretty much any JJ HW. Jiu jit su is good to have, for mma, although unless u train day in day out including mental training for various scenarious, it may not become reflex in a street combat scenario, or even in an MMA fight in which u're being pressured. Sonnen?
I have to agree with you on training day in day out and training your mental condition, but thats pretty much the same with any martial art dont you think?
And im not a Bjj fanboy,i train Bjj and i am sick of people saying it sucks and its not a mans sport even after all the years it proved its usefullnes. But at least no you said its good to have, which is all im trying to say,its part of fighting, just like the standup.
@znjfl More simple moves that don't require much thought [Double leg, g&p, barrage of hooks], all come as instinct under pressure. [@ least for me.] Given they may not have perfect technique and/ or form, but are all effective tools in a street fight. [Given yer not fighting a giant, or a Bruce Lee] Sure being excellent @ BJJ is an effective tool against a novice. That's beyond obvious. You're just taking people out of the fight and making your own kind of "fight".
@znjfl I don't beleive in all that holy martial art stuff. I beleive fighting has and is a sport about who is the most gifted, tough, and tenacious. Sure anybody can train martial arts for years and years and be able to "beat" people that don't train for that style of "fighting". In JJ there are very few strikes you're absorbing or dodging. Very few impacts you must endure. You're just rolling around struggling to stay w/ in your style of "fighting" looking for a way to stop the real fighter.
@znjfl Nobody is scared of BJJ players. Everybody is scared of a tough, relentless striker or wrestler. I'll roll w/ Royce Gracie him self. Sure he can submit me, or damage one of my limbs if he decides to be a moron, and "prove" himself. lol Calling BJJ part of fighting is the same as giving a guy a sword, and throwing him into a fight against a guy w/ out a sword. Or a cowboy w/ a lassou. Or a guy w/ a gun or knife. Fighting is a mans sport that isn't shy of animalistic rough housing.
@ilovesilvia69 Whatever, thats your opinion, mine is different. You will never change my opinion and i obviously will never change yours,so lets just leave it at that.
@ilovesilvia69 Chael Sonnen was taken down and submitted by a "Bee jay jay fag" (I would assume this is what you probably think of him). Chael Sonnen also lost to a triangle by a non-JJ specialist. Don't kid yourself into thinking jiu jitsu isn't effective. Chael Sonnen is a great WRASLER and fighter, but a triangle choke is a triangle choke and all people need to breathe.
Basic movement. We call this just "shrimping" Reverse shrimps being the opposite motion (pulling with your feet and exploding your hip the other way). Also, we don't focus on speed as much as good form when doing them.
One detail we emphasize, which wasn't in this video, is being on your toes when pushing off instead of being flat on the feet. The point is to bring the feet so close to the butt, you are on your toes. This yields more explosive shrimping.
i prefer to be on my feet then on flat feet, when your on your toes and are close to your butt, it produces more power :) but great overall video

Most street fights end up on the ground. Knowing what to do when you are there is a must.
