@drolandcorp no, X11 is not made for Linux, but some programmers have made desktop environments for Linux that uses Xorg, as well as OSX programmers made it for OSX.

So, X11 is a protocoll to distribute graphics between a client and server (the server being the one you look at and type on and the client is the program generating the graphics, usually running on a server).

So, X11 has nothing to do with operating systems.
