Nope, couldn't possibly be the same now without David. I don't care how good they may sound, it's not the same for me, therefore not as enjoyable. Nothing against the rest of the band, but I've no interest now.
Also grew up listening to Ambrosia in the 70's and saw them in concert this week. I too was concerned about the absence of David Pack. Musically, I Didn't miss Pack a bit. The band seems to finally have a perfect fit with the addition of Rick Cowling and Doug Jackson. I can understand the sentiment but if you decline an opportunity to see this band because of Pack's absence, you will be doing yourself a huge disfavor. Jump at the opportunity to see these guys. Time has served to season them well
@ranger1961x I agree totally, I saw them in Cleveland last week and they were TERRIFIC!!! Both Jackson on guitar and especially Cowling on the vocals & keys, fit extremely well. I will admit that missing David Pack concerned me before the show but once I heard them, I was convinced!!!
Love this band( with David), even before I ever knew who they were or who was doing those songs (their hits). Didn't know till recently that they did progressive too, I always loved that music also. That old stuff sounds great! Funny, because i 'know' I somehow have heard those progressive songs like 'Holding on to Yesterday', and another one, as a small child. Brings back such feelings. They were great! I love David! Miss that stuff and those days. I would have went to see them.
I guess it depends on who one thinks is the key band member. All the guys were very talented, but they're not the same without him. He's probably not as good without them for that matter, but I think his talents within that group would be difficult to replace. Maybe it's a case of the sum being greater than the parts.
Would rather see David Pack as a solo artist than to see Ambrosia w/o him. His voice, whether lead or backup was so distinctive, not to mention his guitar work.
@1mkboyd I would MUCH rather see the current Ambrosia than David Pack solo. Ambrosia is still exploring progressive rock and will headline CalProg on October 2 playing ONLY their Prog Rock songs none of the soft pop, while David Pack nowadays is playing only smooth jazz and soft pop.
Great video info....but please make ALL the pictures showing them playing right handed not left handed.... come on people it aint that hard to get the photo's right.
BIGGEST PART OF ME IS ONE OF THE MOST SPECIAL SONGS OF MY LIFE!!! I saw them at the Brentwood Corn Festival a few years ago and just sat there in heaven!!! They were GREAT!!! And it was SO nostaligic for me!!! My heart was pitterpattering the whole time! I believe Eddie Money and family were lounging in front of me as well. Their music truly stands the test of time!!!
Lenny? no way!!! he hated this kind of crap! probably was shagging one of the band members. The US never really had any good prog bands, but we had better jazz-rock-fusion bands
i too grew up listening to ambrosiaDavid has, an unmistable voice does anyone know where i can get their greatest hits? preciate if you could post it! Very talented group!
Hoji45-you are right-SOMEWHERE.. is their DEFINITIVE album/cd. It is akin to Beatles- Sgt Peppers. Everything about SOMEWHERE.. was AMBROSIA at their best. What Alan Parsons did with them, was incredible. He took AMBROSIA to where they had not been before and put them on another plateau musically and vocally. FLAWLESS. I was there. listening from the beginning and with each album, they got better and better and SOMEWHERE...was IT IT IT...thanks AMBROSIA for al the good listens..
I agree with what you said about this being a video history of Ambrosia *WITH* David but for Ambrosia to continue today recording w/o David seems.. not quite the same.Davids Voice is one of the single most unique and soulful sounds that has enhanced ambrosia all these years since the inception.
I dont want to take anything away from Ken Stacey but I just cant imagine Ambrosia w/o David :( I grew up in the 70-80's listening to them as a little girl and I long for Davids magical voice.
Check out the "Somewhere I've Never Traveled" CD. Flawless and incredible piece of work. Ambrosia's PERFECT effort! Saw them (with David Pack) a few years ago and it was one of the best concerts I ever saw...and I SAW McCARTNEY!
Too bad 2 of my photos are not credited.

David missing from Ambrosia is like the Beatles minus Paul. No heartbeat, no life.
