I love your videos of southern Australia. I saw your mention of how hot it was, 104 degrees. Ouch, that's the kind of summer we had here in Dallas, TX last year.
I like the size and quality of the Replay XD1080. I was considering getting one but when I read that you couldn't replace the battery if and when it goes bad. I wrote to Replay to see if this was true and they verified it and also said that you could send your Replay in and THEY would replace the battery for you. I then had to write 3 times requesting a quote as to how much this service would cost. I still haven't heard from them and that was about a month ago. Red flag.
@gaui500xs Eeek! That is definitly one of the draw backs. The size and weight are awesome on the Replay is good, especially on a 500x. I've got a few bigger Quads now which I perfer to use the GoPro on - like the latest videos on my youtube channel.
I'm curious as to why you didn't compare the Replay XD1080 up against the GoPro Hero2? Or wasn't the GoPro Hero2 available when you did this comparison? Apples to apples.
@gaui500xs Thats right. The Hero2 was not even announced when this video was made. I will try to get a new video up over the next few days to compare the HeroHD, HeroHD2 and the ReplayXD 1080 :)
@arwtee To be honest they both look great... both at 720 x 60fps and 1080 x 30fps. The colours are still more vibrant on the ReplayXD though, in comparison to the GoPro.
This is insane... I was looking for a comparison between both cameras to use in airplanes and I hit your video. That looks insanely better than a Parrot Ar.Drone. What is it that you are flying? How do you control it? Sorry about the questions, I am impressed!
Dude......Replay wins hands down!!! Better video colors and sound. No lame curved video image. Thaks for the comparison. I'm going to get one if I can ever get through to the Replay company =p. Where did you get your Replay from?....recomend any good vendors?
@MikeysRC I think each has their use. Large wide outdoors i perfer the GoPro, over the ReplayXD. I find the ReplayXD better for more focused applications where a larger field of view is not needed. Check out buyreplayxd to get one :)
At the moment i fly with the GoPro facing forward, and the ReplayXD facing backwards to get 2 different angles on the same flight. Ill try to get some more footage up.
@GauiQuadflyer I've got a separate camera for FPV which has a wide lens on it. I perfer to see more around when FPV :). For HD recording, I use a mixture of 1 GoPro Hero HD, 2x GoPro Hero HD 2's,1x ReplayXD1080 and a Sony HX9V for 50fps 1080p footage.

@gaui500xs Thanks for the feedback... only makes me want to make more :)
It's another hot day today... just hit 37.9 Celcius (100 Fahrenheit)... and it's still rising!

That's awesome man. What software are you using for the split screen?

@ShabareckMike Thanks :) - This was done using Adobe Premiere

How did you find the raw camera footage compared in resolution and sharpness on a big full HD screen?

@huddorc When you start FPV you will see that FOV is an really important thing ;)

It's worth putting the supplied windshield sticker on as it reduces the wind noise almost entirely.

@racerecall Thanks for the Tip :)

Video looks nice and more natural on the Replay XD1080. Did you have the windshield sticker over the microphone on the Replay?
racerecall 4 months ago
@racerecall Yeah i think it does as well. No I did not have the sheild sticker on. I'm still trying to work out how best to mount it.
