Dear Mr. Liqiang, the reason that westerners have a lower opinion of China and Chinese products is simply that we don't see much of the quality of Chinese industry. All we get here in the US is poorly manufactured and shoddy merchandise and cheap plastics. If something in the house breaks down people say: "must be made in China". In too many cases that is true. I for one will not buy Chinese made electric tools, they rust away, burn out and are not dependable.

Speaking from personal experience, for example, Chinese elementary schools may have the students and teachers sit on cheap plastic stools, but each student would get a laptop to use, and there would be a tropical garden with flowers and birds for observation, relaxation, and study at the top of a 6-floor classroom building. China is not "physically" stealing foreign technologies from japan and or germany. However, they are duplicating the blueprints of these trains and promoting them to other countries in need of high speed rail. Very few modifications r made. This itself undercuts Japan and Germany BIG TIME. While i dislike it, i cant blame china since japan and germany should have read the contract in the 1st place and anticipated this prior to making bids on china's railways.

Dear Mr. Liqiang, the reason that westerners have a lower opinion of China and Chinese products is simply that we don't see much of the quality of Chinese industry. All we get here in the US is poorly manufactured and shoddy merchandise and cheap plastics. If something in the house breaks down people say: "must be made in China". In too many cases that is true. I for one will not buy Chinese made electric tools, they rust away, burn out and are not dependable.

Speaking from personal experience, for example, Chinese elementary schools may have the students and teachers sit on cheap plastic stools, but each student would get a laptop to use, and there would be a tropical garden with flowers and birds for observation, relaxation, and study at the top of a 6-floor classroom building. The US should for the sake of its own ppl try to work with China. It is in both countries interest to do so. Besides, they have no choice. China is the largest holder of US reserves

I did NOT criticize China on human rights. I defended China. Food with colours wtf? In the 1980, Deng visited SG and was marveled at its progress. Lee Kuan Yew told Deng Xiaoping China could become great too and proceeded to show him how. Since the 1980s, Singapore has encouraged its best ppl to work with and in China to help build and modernize that country. If u know China as well as u do, u would know that China and Singapore r friends.

Dont forget that it was Singapore that gave u the tools and resources to make China what it is today. Deng Xiaoping visited Singapore in 1980 and became inspired by Sg's progress. It was Lee Kuan Yew who told him that China can become an economic powerhouse. Since that time, Singapore sent tons of economists, investors, experts to China. Dont let the westerners use human rights to stop asia from developing.

@MrLiqiang Part 2: Then there are the food scare ( eg hotpot using chemicals for the colour) Also there's still the vast rural poor and great income inequality between the very poor n very rich.China has definitely improved a lot over the decades (it was once a c'try bef the 17th century with highest GDP, technology n so on) but if those shortcomings are not addressed, it will drag down the progress. Once those hv been mostly removed, I believe China will fully show its potential in all areas.

@MrLiqiang First, let me state I'm an overseas Chinese fr S'pore, looking at China from outside with an asian perspective. China has lifted many millions out of poverty through modernisation but at the same time, the native chinese should also know that corruption, at the local level (not so much the main CCP) esp, remains a big problem. Some provincial officials suppress the rights of their own people and factories still dump toxics into water that poison populations living along the river.

Furthermore, you have no comparable aircraft to America or Russia, your Naval force is no significant threat to any country over the size of Cambodia, and you utilize weaponry created by Americans and Russians. Your country doesn't really have a car manufacturer of their own that can even compete with Korea and you don't have ICBM capability, so you're not a threat to any other country EVEN IF you wanted to be. They are building public work projects in Africa in order to shift most of the manufacturing for them. They will no longer be dependant on America and the west since their African partners and them will have a symbyotic relationship. Besides I am sure if you feed a country trillions of dollars a year they will be able to forage a better army then America in the coming decades.

@whizzPOOM Other than the trainstation it self there isn't much chinese in the video the train on the right is a Siemens Velaro from Germany and the train on the left is Shinkansen train from Japan. Those trains where most likely made in China to save production and transport costs but the technology behind it is from somehwere else.

We even have examples in Europe: Ireland , with impressive growth results in the past years is begging for european money to save them. Ppl ... what about the US high speed rail??? We have the Acela... It's got a snack bar that serves hotdogs and beer. The seats are so cool, you can flip the backrest the other side so passengers can face each other. Traveling from nyc to boston only takes 6 to 7 hrs, and you don't have to worry about traffic.. The Acela also has electric outlets you can plug your laptop. Due to the high speed, internet connection breaks once in a while, but it's high speed. The Acela is the best in the world!!

China is not "physically" stealing foreign technologies from japan and or germany. However, they are duplicating the blueprints of these trains and promoting them to other countries in need of high speed rail. Very few modifications r made. This itself undercuts Japan and Germany BIG TIME. While i dislike it, i cant blame china since japan and germany should have read the contract in the 1st place and anticipated this prior to making bids on china's railways.

well, a sign of the times. Given that China purchased the German ICE Valero D and Maglev I suspect that they now use that technology in their own designs. We always knew they would copy, and now with all the money they have (and the US owing them trillions) they will over take or at least rival the west. If they patch up a few other problems over there they will certainly become world leaders. The tables are turning, big time.
