The fight with Vitali showed Lennox that it was time to retire. There was no one left to beat that would've enhanced Lennox's legacy. And a rematch with Vitali would've been demanded if Lennox had fought on - and would've made Lennox look bad if he had fought on without giving Vitali a rematch. A rematch with Vitali would've been way too risky and would've hurt Lennox's legacy had he lost, so retiring was Lennox's best option.
Wlad is the Klitschko whose chin failed him on 2 occasions; his heart failed him on another separate occasion. Vitali's chin is as solid as they come, however. Vitali gave a slightly past his prime Lennox Lewis a great fight. Lewis was starting to hurt Vitali just before the stoppage and most likely would've TKO'd Vitali by punches if it wasn't stopped due to the cut. Vitali was ready & willing to continue, but the cut was very bad so it was good that the fight was stopped.

The fight with Vitali showed Lennox that it was time to retire. There was no one left to beat that would've enhanced Lennox's legacy. And a rematch with Vitali would've been demanded if Lennox had fought on - and would've made Lennox look bad if he had fought on without giving Vitali a rematch. A rematch with Vitali would've been way too risky and would've hurt Lennox's legacy had he lost, so retiring was Lennox's best option.

Wlad is the Klitschko whose chin failed him on 2 occasions; his heart failed him on another separate occasion. Vitali's chin is as solid as they come, however. Vitali gave a slightly past his prime Lennox Lewis a great fight. Lewis was starting to hurt Vitali just before the stoppage and most likely would've TKO'd Vitali by punches if it wasn't stopped due to the cut. Vitali was ready & willing to continue, but the cut was very bad so it was good that the fight was stopped.

its amazing how loads of people remember lewis as a great boxer i must have missed that one.... he was good but most of his fights were boring also not to mention lackluster but even on one of his bad fights he beat that joke vitali and now all the vitali nuthuggers are vitali retired him like fuck .lewis most of the time was boring but vitali made lewis look great damn lewis knew that was the time to retire as these two jokers would make people appreciate lewis more than his fighting ever would

Rahman can't even smile at the end; that's why not even Americans will root for that fuq. Klitschkos are cool - intelligent too. Vitali would have been great in any era; even the Ali era, because of his physical presence. Somebody wrote that Klitschko has a glass jaw???? You are a complete MORON; nobody ever put Vitali down you chump. he withdrew w/ Byrd for a torn rotator cuff [was ahead on all cards]. Doctor stopped against Lewis [again, Vitali ahead on all cards]. I don't care what anyone says, I've seen it a dozen times and Lewis WOULD have stopped him had it gone on.

@uncleflaco i agree about Vitali having strong jaw, i mean how hard was Lennox Lewis punching him to cut his face so bad, very hard in my opinion & he never went down. The Klitschko"s can smile as they are emotionally intelligent, not insecure etc. The Yanks don"t moan about Mayweather not being a brawler, isn"t boxing the art of self defense hit & not being hit!

@uncleflaco Vitali was ahead with combined 6 points against Lewis, not much. And this was during the 6th round. If you have been following boxing for a while you know that Lewis always brought out the best in him during the latest rounds. Ref: Hasim, Evander, Bruno etc. Lewis would still have won against Vitali.

@uncleflaco He was beaten and the scorecards do not mean shit when your opponent melts one half of your face. Vitali was lucky that the ref stopped it because if he had been allowed to continue Lewis may well have put an end to his career. The tide was turning and the cut was so bad he may have lost his sight. Wladimirhas a shaky jaw but Vitali's is solid. He has been hurt by Lewis and Sanders but his chin is top notch.

@uncleflaco ok a tko is truly getting beat first off. lewis beat vitali. im not sure what round it got stopper but i wanna say it was 6 or 7. vital's eye looked like shit at that point in the fight. no man is gonna take 5 more rounds of lennox lewis' right hand pounding on your eye. he is lucky he got that fight stopped or he would probly be blind. he fought lewis well no doubt but he wouldve got seirous damage done to him had the fight gone on. he would not have lasted.

Didn't you watch the special on Rahman on ESPN when he beat LL. He took down 4 men as a teen. Evidently when someon is face to face with him its a serious event. Do your research 1st.

Right observation there, it's full of haters that say "Klitschko's are boring", or "Mayweather is boring..." this and that are boring... They don't understand boxing, they just want people to bite each other's ears off.
Wladimir Klitschko used to be maybe a little haughy and presumtuous in his youth, therefore his chin is not that hard... But Vitali is a true warrior and fears nobody inside the ring. I agree that he woulda been a great in any era. :-)

vitali has never hit the canvas stupid....only time he was stopped was the TKO's from injury and the one from a cut (byrd lewis) he has his weaknesses, but they are not his chin...wlad is the one with the chin that some question...he is the one who has been actually stopped by punches that rattled his brain. But the Klitschko you are seeing here is vitali not wlad. and currently he and his brother are dominating the divison.
