Coasties rule!! Thank you all you do. I always knew that you guys were there even if there wasnt a head line to be made. Any one have any suggestions on how to make Boot esaier besides learning how to swim? dont give anything away just and suggestion would help.
I am a proud Coast Guard Mom. My son is stationed on the high endurance cutter Dallas. They are leaving for 4 1/2 months. They will go to 27 countries on a good will tour, training the african coast guard on stopping the piracy, joint training with other countries and kicking a few smugglers butts along the way. We love our Coasties
yeah, coasties are the unsung heros of the sea. though the video could have used some clips showing the CG protecting the Navy in ports, foreign and domestic. and fighting piracy. im a combat veteran of the Army and i always say, those people are crazy going out during a hurricane, i would rather do KP :lol:
oh, and also could have shown a little history of ww2 also, operating the landing boats and other stuff. but it was still a great video.
we patrol, also any mariners that see suspicious activity usually report it to the CG. down in florida and around there, we know they are comin so we patrol all the time
any E-4 or above in the CG conducting MLE is considered a federal law enforcement officer. Also, some coasties get to go to FLECT. we enforce laws on the waterways, stop drugs from coming in, enforce fishing laws and all that good stuff. its a great gig and gives you great satisfaction.
I've seen incidences where they catch "Unknown" visiters on boats. Now, How do they know they are there? I mean... Do they have 24 hr watch on the seas? I agree.. It's all great stuff . I see how they train ,but man the ocean looks so intimidating when it's angry. I would be throwing up all over the place.
One of our missions is law enforcement on the oceans. Besides, we can't just use harsh language to stop people if they pose a threat to us or our country. That's why we get guns.
