  • Anybody wanna buy some magic beans?

  • @medfaxx first your point is moot there was no attack. second I did give you logic so your statement was incorrect.

  • Smurf, you may be 100% right as it appears you're being sarcastic but the only thing that really matters is did she help this person or any person. If so she accomplished so much more than those who can only criticize others from their high perch yet do nothing to help other humans hurting. I hope you were being facetious but if not shame on you for forgetting what really matters - the person seeking help. As a fyi this was done gratis to this patient with no claims whatsoever.

  • this woman is a true miracle worker sent from god to help the human race and to stop all wars and hardships thankyou for being sent from god we thankyou from planet earth

  • Booooo to critical negative people .(SOME PEOPLE !!!!!!!!!)*#!*#! !E(&#_*&#(*@#)

very informative and looks very relaxing

  • Thanks Howweuse. Not going to disagree with you and like the way you used the placebo argument. Agree if can work body to do what is necessary without any medicine you're better off generally speaking.

Again not sure on the "false and misleading" statement for showing a video. Nothing to gain for us, no money, no referrals, nothing. We sell plants and there are folks who enjoy these type videos. I call it the "live and let live" philosophy as long as not harming anyone.

    thanks.

  • Aside from that, there are many of other techniques that work in the same manner without using heat at all. Placebos can be great. If someone can get better without having to use real medicine, more power to them. But it's false and misleading to try and play this sort of thing off as being real medicine, magic or whatever you think it is. It's just people fooling their bodies into getting better.

  • Honestly, this does bring up an intersting question... what is the mechanism by which one fools their body? I've long been a beleiver that the human will is powerful... I really don't think it could be biological... sometimes it makes sense it could Iwill admit... increased speed from adrenaline, so on.

  • Interesting and another phenomena that happens constantly is say you are walking down the street, slip and sprain your ankle. Most people feel immediate pain. Now take that exact same patient who has caught a wining touchdown pass with 80,000 people watching, replicate the exact same injury yet is is not felt until 30 yards later, at full speed, when passes the goal line. Chemistry of injury the same, psychological response not

  • um. the chemistry is actually different, since the athlete has adranaline, or endorphines, a known natural painkiller, flowing throughout his body while the walker does not. The difference is actually MORE chemical than psychological.

  • Thanks Amadeusonff. You are right in that more pain killers would start to flow, however all the opioid peptides, of which enkelphalins/endorphins most discussed originate as "endogenous" opiates, from within our body, not exogenous such as pills or shots applied from external source. The "more" comes from inside the body and in practice the walker and the athlete both have similar capacity to create the endogenous opiates but the walker is lacking the traumatic injury to trigger it.

  • I agree that the psychological response is different, I must disagree and say that the chemistry is different as well, as the neurotransmiters will be absorbed differently based on the psychological state of the individual. the latter situation is based off a state of sympathetic arousal, while the latter is under a state of no arousal, so comparing the two becomes difficult. HOWEVER, I would like to mention, that human willpower IS powerful, as it can manually affect these changes in the brain.

  • Medfaxx1, the heat provided by the stones is too little to do anything, unless the stone is applied directly to some injury that is on the surface.

  • I love how we try to explain everything with a scientific, logical rational. I do it all the time. Sometimes you are not able to explain it scientifically, and just trust what works for you. Einstein said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same results." Maybe we are ready to try something different.

  • The quote is supposed to be, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." Nice try, though.

  • Thanks.. Probably should have googled it, but I tried to remember it and did pretty good :). My point was really that it is important to look at things differently. People were so convinced the world was flat until they sailed around it. Do you have a boat?

  • On comment by howweuse that has separate post to him I'll add following. Stones are heated in some treatments. Heat increases cell permeability, increases blood flow, fosters chemical changes which change electrical characteristics of cells, nerve endings facilitating electro/chemical reaactions. Heat is in three forms, wet, dry, and mechanical ( friction) Placebo, if long term, is efficacious treatment, and generally prior to use of placebo traditional has failed. 100% failure

  • Reik and alternative healing techniques like this "are real". I suggest scheduling a few sessions and experience it before judging it. The "fear" and comments of many of you are unwarranted. It is only your ego creating fear of something that you do not understand. There is nothing to fear about this type of work. It is a very powerful technique for healing physical and emotional issues.

  • I think one should watch Richard Dawkin's documentary on irrational health care practices before watching this hocus pocus.

  • Agree one should become informed and possibly the documentary you cite may be good. Also disagree that what you see here is "hocus pocus". There is some validity to certain aspects of this almost 10 minute video. What is it specifically you cite as "hocus pocus"?

  • Where is the scientific evidence that this has any therapeutic effect, apart from relaxing your patient?

  • There isn't any. Everyone knows all the alternative heath therapies and such are jokes that rely fully on the placebo effect. Without that, they do nothing.

  • Think before responding. If you looked at what is going on you would know it. First off is the use of heated stones brings in thermal effects, ie .increased blood flow, physiological chemical changes, increased cell permeability for starters. A main stay in any culture, in most medical professions is the use of heat and don't hesitate to recall that heat comes in more than one manner, ie moist, dry, and mechanical which all have separate diagnostic requirements. Placebo is cure if lon
