hammer made great stuff,i grew up with this as a teen in the 70,s,the modern day vampire stuff is crap, they are catering for 13 year old schoolgirls ,nothing beats this for atmosphere etc and the eye candy was way more classier, check out ingrid pitt

the kind of singing/music that starts at 7:18 is what made these movies frightening as a a child or even a teen. whoever thought to use those kind of sounds knew how to create horror.
Ever take notice that every woman that falls prey to Dracula is some busty babe having a penchant to wear low-cut dresses that allows her assets to show.... you never see some 'plain jane' with an excessive weight problem or some malnourished, bony weakling getting herself done in by the vampire king....
it just wouldn't draw the vampires...or the male movie audience!
Hammer does prefer blonde fair skinned innocent young girl who are victim of evil masterminds and evil creature...That's quite a classic, isn't? Villains are general dark skinned people (look at Christopher Lee). This racism by anglosaxon society towards dark skinned people is very clear.
@Francesko263 man Christopher Lee is dark skinned? thats outrageous. As far as I know, the dark hair also represent wisdom and cleverness as well as evilness...
@Francesko263 Christopher Lee played Dracula in HAMMER MOVIES. Far from dark skinned, he always had a suitably pale, undead look as did Mike Raven and Barbara Jefford paying he two vampires that perform the opening sacrifice in this movie, and Yutte Stensgaard as the serial killer vampire Mircalla was as blond as can be as was Katya Wyeth who played Mircalla in the sequel "Twins of Evil". Your argument is contrary to the evidence and simply reveals your own prejudice.
@Francesko263 Blond, blue eyed Kirsten Lindholm, who played the girl sacrificed in the opening of "Lust For A Vampire" also played the vampire in the opening of "The Vampire Lovers" - Hammer's first movie in the Karnstein Trilogy. She has played both a victim and a villain, and she certainly isn't dark skinned. In Hammer movies, it was always pale vs. pale.
This is great silly fun. Hammer´s vampire Gothics with period costumes, studio castles and rich colour lighting is ravishing (not pun intended) by beauty and atmosphere.

Luv this movie, will always remind me of my childhood days when vampire movies were different from today. Simple plots and wonderful costumes.

Lord of Darkness, Prince of Hell? Shouldn't it be Prince of Darkness, Lord of Hell? Or is he calling upon another demon rather than Santa?

The eyes being flashed on the screen is Christopher Lee's eyes when he played Dracula.
