yeah mine's in the shop now. the lead channel went out on it as did the reverb. so you know, after a ton of research there is a consistent issue. all DSL heads have a grounding issue on 4/8 ohm jacks. i verified this. i gorunded mine. there's also some occasional cold solder joints but, the ground to 8 and 4 are ALL DSL's. if you ONLY use the 16 you're fine but, if you use the others you'll want to have a ground wire soldered onto the two. pretty easy job.
@ArbiterKL don't buy a tube amp until you read up on how to run them. you ALWAYS have to have a load/speaker and it ALWAYS has to match impedance. otherwise you could blow the trannies up and be SOL.
Sounds good man. Word to the wise though. The DSL/TSL series were made with carbon film resistors from 2004 and earlier and tend to overheat and melt the PCB. If yours is one of these have it recapped. I just ordered an MLB version 2009, can't wait for it to get here...
@Stichfam Sure no problem. Yeah they don't all blow but, they're timebombs. Marshall Sells the PCB's for the older models IF it happens but, chances are if you've had it this long you're probably okay. It has a pretty nice "clean" channel for a Marshall...man i can't wait to get mine, lol. I have a single rectifier and a 5150 now i need a solid Marshall for all over the board tone. I think an SL-X and a Fender blackface bandmaster are next for me.
Well I have '98 DSL and there are no overheating problems. Actualy early DSL's have drake transformers (newer dsl's have no-name transformers). Overheating problems was only on dsl401 combo.
