Thrills and benny--Every generation thinks that "their music" was "the music" and everybody else's music sucked. Much of early hip hop was about partying, getting girls and having fun. On the other hand, there was some pretty dark rock and roll that came along after the "good" rock of the late 60s, 70s and 80s. Lyrics about satanism, rape, torture, mutilation...crap musicians. I enjoy that good rock, good hip hop, jazz, soul, etc. If there's crap on the radio, don't bitch...turn it off.

I simply referenced to the 80's as being pure music and not copy cats that take an old song and put a rap beat or twist it a little bit. Ex. Kid Rock's summertime song or whatever its called. That was orignally Warren Zevon's "Wearwolves in London" There is some good music out today but most is rap music that repeats lyrics over and over and over till it gets stuck in your head. That music does SUCK.

Is Night Ranger a hair band? I know they're arena rock but they appear to be hair metal unlike their AR contemporaries like Journey, REO, Boston, Bad Company, Bryan Adams, Foreigner, Styx, Survivor, Kansas & Loverboy.

@shmuli9 I asked that question b/c Dee Snider plays them all the time during the House of Hair. NR's first 3 albums sounded very hair metalesque then they toned it down when they did the title track to the Michael J. Fox flick "The Secret of My Success." And Jack Blades played in Damn Yankees which was a super-hair-band. Musicwise, they're way better than Poison, Warrant, Winger, Firehouse or Nelson but in terms of hair they couldn't hold a candle to any of those guys. But rock ain't about look.

@shmuli9 Good point. And Night Ranger was and still IS the all around better band than any of those I mentioned (btw imo Nelson had maybe one good song I liked but that was it. I didn't care much for those guys either. Ditto w/Winger. Firehouse was ok. Warrant had a couple decent songs. I have a "Best of" CD by Poison but I rarely ever play it although I probably won't get rid of it.) But as for NR I could listen to just about anything by them. "Midnight Madness" & "Dawn Patrol" are classic LPs.
