to say that jesus died for our sins is Vicarious Redemption. Many people have died for others in reality knowing full well that it was a one way journey, not rising from the dead 3 days later.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have successfuly framed themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
Universal salvation was for me a heresy, people pleasing idea until I saw passages like this.
Romans 5:19 "for as through the disobedience of the one man,THE MANY were constituted sinners: so also through the obedience of the one, shall THE MANY be constituted righteous."
If you take the book of revelation as the end of Gods plan then of course universal salvation would not make sense; but if you look at Paul's writings and see God will be "all in ALL" then you see love Never fails.
"Trust in Jesus"? What about Jesus? "Trust Jesus about what God is like"? Then why did Jesus have to die? He just could have said trust me! This is a very, very twisted, confused and distorted attempt to explain the gospel. A much simpler and clearer explanation can be found in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Not a word about the Resurrection? Many people were crucified, only one defeated the grave! Why do Catholics focus so much on the sacrifice and so little on the gift Christ gave us? It was his resurrection that opened the door for our own salvation. The sacrifice is no longer ours. We have an important word to spread, which is why Christ made the final sacrifice.

Interestingly, our Lord came to rescue all throughout time,as well. Just consider it! From the beginning of existence. All the way til the end of history!
@selfbe: in a sense Jesus said everything in the Bible, barring any manmade errors.
Regarding sin, one can wallow in one's sins for years, never reaching true repentance and forgiveness, if one doesn't trust God. He is the Alpha and the Omega. But if we don't trust Him, how will we know that?
Gospels? Jesus Christ is the gate, the door, the shepherd; all others who cannot enter by the gate, door, or by the shepherd are thieves, robbers, and murderers. We enter the family of God like a branch grafted upon a tree, our new place is citizen of Heaven; and in this we see division even in our own families, but our reward is forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life upon our repentance of our sins and believe in Christ--who is from God. God is the center, and Christ is the path.
Rowen Williams doesn't know what the Gospel is. He's the last person I would ask such a question. The Gospel is what the BIBLE says it is! 'Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures' 1 Cor. 15. 'Trust Jesus to tell u what God is like' That's the Gospel?!!!! Man! What a fool. He can't even answer! Amazing! God is HOLY you are SINFUL. Christ died to take the wrath of a holy God, and to impute the righteousness of such to the sinners acount. And one must repent & have faith in that 1
@revholland1 I think the very concept of putting the Gospel into ones own words is something that is in its very essence an impossibility, therefore any attempt is commendable. And I would read Proverbs 26:1-11 before you call someone a fool. And Psalms 37 may help you understand the need for trust. You cant repent because of the fear of punishment or a lust for eternal life. You must trust in Christ and in contrast to his glory hate your sin.
I think John 3:16 sums this up. The words and deeds of Jesus, as documented in the New Testament (especially John and Mark), help us to believe that Jesus was no ordinary man. ("I am telling you the truth, before Abraham was born, I am", John 8:58)
Great answer, I thought. If you trust the GOD revealed in Jesus...if you really trust that GOD is like that, that Jesus has shown us what GOD is really like...then that will have radical implications for everything else: who am I, how to live, what is right, etc... I think a whole lot is packed into his "nutshell" answer. Thank you.
(KJV) 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
@kkkkkkatherine I don't know what the point of quoting the verse is. It's using a metaphor to describe the word of God, its not a reference to a literal piercing... r u dumb??
I will agree that it is slightly odd he doesn't speak about sin. I think the power over sin is paramount. The freedom from sin. I think he would agree, which is why i find it interesting he doesn't mention it.
Why did Jesus die on the cross? He died for the sins of the whole world, even for those
who do not and will not believe in Him.
But all who do believe in Him will not perish eternally but will have eternal life. Of course, John 3:16 says it better and more clearly than I or the Archbishop!!!
Doesn't trusting the picture Jesus paints of the Father ultimately portrays that He is a God who forgives sin, not condemns, a God who cleanses us of unrighteousness by His own righteousness?
He was simplifying it to the core. If God is a vengeful tyrant there is no gospel, we're not free from sin, but doomed to eternal torment.
If we know God like Jesus revealed, ultimately we WILL do what he says, "Go and sin no more."

"TRUST Jesus when He tells you what God is Like" --- Archbishop Williams
ok...um....er
....sigh
Hebrews 4:12

um. Jesus didn't say that. The writer of the book of Hebrews said that. The words of Jesus can be found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
selfbe 3 years ago
the old Testament is redundant.
Plus to the sin guy, you are not free from sin, you can be forgiven, but you have to be able to stop sinning.
When Jesus says go and sin no more, that is what he means, your repentance is meaningless if you dont try to change
