You need to research this subject concerning short sales more clearly. You may ONLY receive a 1099 if the property is NOT you primary residence. If the bank (not the IRS) wants to come after the seller after a sale for the difference after all the negotiations to remove this language then the seller CAN FILE BK and YES IT CAN BE DISCHARGED!

iv been knocking on doorsgetting deals for about 4 yrs had to stop do to somedo some particular reason.( too long to state on this comment screen).iam a RE agent for approx 5 yrs.
my question is can i go into contract under my personal name to do the short sale ????
my other question does the purchase price on contract have to be the payoff amount or payoff minus repairs x 20- 35 percis the purchase price should it be the amount of the payoff or minus comps, minus repairs times 20-35 %????
