This collection of songs is nothing more than amazing it is truly classic Chris Cornell song writing. His vocals are perfect he is easily the best singer in rock today . His choice to use Timbaland was not only smart for his business but a totally new style of expressing his art. You can tell by Timbalands heavy influence on every song they both collaborated closely to make something really fresh. You can't expect a great artist to stay doing the same thing over and over again.
in theory timbaland would be a smart choice but it didn't work out 26k first week sales. i read one review that they said it was a big budget disaster. i tend to not listen to the critical part of reviews for music and movies. but they are basically saying they probably lost lots of money.

This is a desecration of Chris Cornell's talent and music in general. Nothing will ever beat the musical purity and timelessness of his works in Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Audioslave. Same goes for our gifts from AIC and Pearl Jam. That music was pure and original, and I doubt we will ever hear music like that again. But this computer-aided rapper shit is total garbage. Chris really suprised me with this one...I'm not really sure what to think! I do like the song, there isn't anything that I can't like about Chris, but I do prefer the rocker side of him. Timbaland wasn't a good choice of a producer for him. The acoustics are what make Chris who he is, not r'n'b. But, all and all, Timbaland did do a good job! I think that the problem with Audioslave was a clear conflict between what Chris wanted to write/sing about, and what Tom Morello wanted him to write/sing about. Especially on the third album, he didn't seem comfortable at all with the overly political stuff and it affected the music as a whole. That and the stuff just wasn't that well written. But yes, this is a great song.
If you don't like this style of music, who cares. It's a good song as anyone capable of appreciating more than one or two things at a time can see.

Maybe impressive on some level but ultimately pretty stale sounding. Patton could be compared to those guys but he just has something else. Same with Eddie Vedder. Honesty is key here. If you sound honest, you sound important. Cornell just seems like he's fakin' it.

This collection of songs is nothing more than amazing it is truly classic Chris Cornell song writing. His vocals are perfect he is easily the best singer in rock today . His choice to use Timbaland was not only smart for his business but a totally new style of expressing his art. You can tell by Timbalands heavy influence on every song they both collaborated closely to make something really fresh. You can't expect a great artist to stay doing the same thing over and over again.

in theory timbaland would be a smart choice but it didn't work out 26k first week sales. i read one review that they said it was a big budget disaster. i tend to not listen to the critical part of reviews for music and movies. but they are basically saying they probably lost lots of money.

This is a desecration of Chris Cornell's talent and music in general. Nothing will ever beat the musical purity and timelessness of his works in Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Audioslave. Same goes for our gifts from AIC and Pearl Jam. That music was pure and original, and I doubt we will ever hear music like that again. But this computer-aided rapper shit is total garbage. Chris really suprised me with this one...I'm not really sure what to think! I do like the song, there isn't anything that I can't like about Chris, but I do prefer the rocker side of him. Timbaland wasn't a good choice of a producer for him. The acoustics are what make Chris who he is, not r'n'b. But, all and all, Timbaland did do a good job! The song was well done, though I wish somebody else was singing it! I'm torn between love and hate here!!!

Few of us expect revolutionary epiphanies from songwriters but the choice of topic and lyrics belie Chris Cornell's writing talent, being more worthy of an idol contestant. Perhaps it is the style of Timbaland but when I heard this I thought "Hmmm...sounds franchised"! If you close your eyes and imagine Britney Spears on hormones, maybe this is how she would sound.

I think that the problem with Audioslave was a clear conflict between what Chris wanted to write/sing about, and what Tom Morello wanted him to write/sing about. Especially on the third album, he didn't seem comfortable at all with the overly political stuff and it affected the music as a whole. That and the stuff just wasn't that well written. But yes, this is a great song.

Paul McCartney, Thom Yorke, Mike Patton... others too. Voices are so different they're tough to compare. Cornell's falls into this place near Scott Stapp and that guy from nickleback. Maybe impressive on some level but ultimately pretty stale sounding. Patton could be compared to those guys but he just has something else. Same with Eddie Vedder. Honesty is key here. If you sound honest, you sound important. Cornell just seems like he's fakin' it.

I've been a fan of Chris Cornell ever since the first Soundgarden album came out.
He has an amazing voice that sounds awesome with any genre of sound behind it.
His lyrics are maturing just as his musical style is, like a true artist. If you're too superficial to understand and appreciate this then that's cool.. but remember that it's not all about what YOU want.
