Ironically I own several of the transformations. the eagle, the hyena, frog, baboon, etc. But back when I got them I was like, wtf are these anyway? When are we going to have another Beast Wars series? Ever since the end of BW NEO the franchise has completely shyed away from the concept. There are: G1, Victory, God Masters, RID, the Unicron Trilogy, the Bay Movies, Animated, the "Prime" micro continuity (Exodus, WFC, and the Prime cartoon) which are 8 vehicle series (and let's not even bother with the endless comics) and only 1 Beast continuity (which consists of BW, BM, BWII, and Neo as one consecutive story technically) MOAR BEAST PLZ.

Something always felt very western about the Beasties and how they were designed. The original Car Robot Transformers (even when designed by North American creators) have a major influence from Japanese super robots and it always seems to show, but the Beasties (to me at least) retain an an all around western feel to them even if they actually were designed by Japs to begins with. It may be the way they transform or the fact that its original cartoon was made by a Canadian animation company.

BTW, do you know the name Beast Wars II directly relates this series with our Beast Wars Transformers, the first (yeah, we have to say it) all-american series of the Transformers franchise. In fact, this series and the following Beast Wars Neo were made as a time-out due at the 2nd season of BWT having only half the lenght they wanted in Japan. They made these while waiting for BWT 3rd season.

Remember how the American Beast Wars series starts 300 years in the future (after G1)? This takes place in that same time period. So while Optimus Primal's team gets time-warped back into prehistoric Earth, this is what's going back in their original time zone (before Op's team make their return in "Beast Machines").

Generally, 'Henshin' is what Transformers with organic alternate forms use, instead of the 'Maximize' and 'Terrorize' from the Western Beast Wars - whereas 'Transform' is used for characters with mechanical alternate modes.

(It's a bit blurred here, but in the animated short clips for Robot Masters, all of the Maximals and Predacons say 'Henshin', while the Autobots and Decepticons say 'Transform'.)
