@gabrielleung not necessarily true. isiah thomas nate archibald elgin baylor maurice cheeks used the old school hard crossover(low hand over ball crossover dribble) and in and out hard crossover combo move for years. hardaways is a combo move(between legs across front of body crossover). grant hill(95) was the first i have seen that used the hesitation sliding crossover consistently in the nba. iverson brought the swing(did carry at times) in 97. players have started carry after 97

@gabrielleung pistol pete maravich lenny wilkens used the old school moves too old school ball was about beating defenders with quickness leverage and footwork. due to streetball(true streetball not and 1) using the dribble deceptively became standard due to many players not having access to moderate level and above basketball training in urban centers in the 70 to now. in the street you have to be able to create off the dribble. most do not know how to pivot nor set proper screens
