Imam abu Hanifa (RA) was born in Kufa, in the reign of Marwan (RA) shortly after the battle of karbala. This was the time when Muslims were fighting against each other and orces of Marwan was fighting against forces of Ibn-e Zubair.

When Abu Hanifa (RA) become Imam, it was the time when his country (Iran) was captured by Banu Abbas and Makah and Madeia were in regin of Banu Umayya. It was not possible for people to move from Kufa to Makah that easily to collect hadiths.

He is wrong about the hadiths not reaching those scholars, they had the hadiths memorized without the books, they just had different criteria on how they judged the strengths of hadith
