We desperately need a new Carl Sagan, we need that individual who can help the otherwise ignorant see through the Demon Haunted World and see the wonders of the Cosmos, help them realize that superstition is not the answer. We on this pale blue dot need another man to take on this challenge, for the good of all mankind.
Carl Sagan can deliver such a powerful message using such simple language. Humanity has only occupied a mere "pale blue dot" in the vastness of the universe. Likewise, we have only existed within the smallest heartbeat in the vastness of its lifetime. It's both humbling and awe-inspiring to see ourselves in perspective.
I grew up watching cosmos. The man was incredible and so eloquent. He could read a phone book and I would hang on every word. Never be another like him.
Had my part sat on my desktop when I watched this. Feeling like a spanner for not getting it in on time. Will post as a response to this. Thumbs up, Favorite for a great job. :)
Carl Sagan was an absolute....hero. A true genius. He realized things in a much bigger picture. Many conservative and near sighted people see our interest in the universe as a waste of time, money and resources. However, I believe unlocking the cosmos will ultimately be our path to the future. The universe will be the single most important tool for us to use. You are missed Mr. Sagan, he would be happy to know the atoms that once made him are off in the universe starting over again. the cycle!
I am sure that you have a heap of other atheists that sub you or are your friends. You know, the ones that have very few subscribers but are just as passionate as the bigger atheists on YT.
With that in mind I think that this video would have a lot more impact if this video had most of those people instead of just the elite.
Why, because Carl Sagan was not just for the "elite" but for everyone.
@krissyeh most of the people in this video have fewer subs than i do. Fearblandness has ~1000, AngryWomble, CollinMaessen, SoundOfScilence, and pointmanzero each have fewer than 1000 subs, so i wouldn't say that I only chose "elite" youtubers. Out of the people in here, i frankly don't know anyone smaller on a personal level. I chose people who were friends of mine, I think the only ones u could truly call "elite" are dpr and TheLivingDinosaur, besides that we r a fairly modest and humble group
@krissyeh I was walking along Venice Beach with a visiting friend who is very wealthy the other day. He has done nothing but lift others up in life by getting those who had an attitude of contributing to society to make a better quality of life, spiritually, financially, and healthy wise. I have to say that viewing the locals at Venice, they all had retarded faces with oblivious eyes who looked at us to see what they could get rather than what they could give. Elite is an illusion.
How wonderful for Carl Sagan's birthday to fall on the same day as the near flyby of 2005 YU55. Had he survived, I reckon he would have kinda liked that.
I have always loved The Pale Blue Dot and what a nice tribute you guys have put together. I applaud you all.
*like*.... *double like* In a strange irony, I think Carl Sagan taught many people that (figuratively), part of them does live on after death - though in the form of the atoms that comprised them, which continue their journey trapped inside a gravity well created by a lump of rock orbiting a nuclear fusion furnace in the suburbs of a stellar metropolis in some remote corner of the infinte.
Damn nobody mentioned that we are just a single species living on an organic rock whizzing around a natural fusion reactor among billions of these element foundries.
Carl Sagan has inspired me to study Astrophysics!

The only conceivable way to make this Blue Dot we dwell upon a better place, is for our species to be here no more.
Sad but true :(
PS
The Earth does`nt need saving, its big enough to look after itself.
