  • Strider Hiryu's Theme Song

  • amazing song!

  • this is the only live version i can find

  • Awesome performance, except for Cedric who unfortunately doesn't hit any notes. Almost :P

  • Heard Thomas' departure was sorta mutual. Besides, Deantoni is also a monster.

  • I saw them in Oslo with Thomas. It was the best fucking concert I've ever been to; 3hours+ on 110% with alot of talented musicians. I went there the next year and didn't even know Thomas had been "fired"...wow, what a dissapointment. I hope they get their shit back on track! :)

  • Why do they have mexican flags on the stage?

  • @sexorcista because Cedric is mexican and there are heavy latin american influences throughout their songs. I think Omar is puerto rican though..

  • I'm so glad the one time I saw them was with Thomas.

  • just noticed that on almost all of their live vids, they wear the same cloths!

  • The current Mars Volta, in MY OPINION, will never be as good as they were with Pridgen on drums. Their current drummer is tight, but TP brought more energy and feel to TMV's music.. thatisall

  • you guys really take the art out of these guys. bitching and complaining about whos what where.

  • drummers, go on my account for my cover!

  • Why to TMV fans praise EVERYTHING they do? Fantastic band, yeah. Fucking terrible live. Who cares if they're playing everything correctly? It sounds like SHIT. Cedric needs a vocal coach or at the very least some backup singers, The Mars Volta are purely a studio band.

Don't get me wrong, I love them, but this is just appalling.

  • Then don't watch if you're going to bitch.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm I think you'll find, if you get off your high fucking horse- It's the bad quality of the recording. OF COURSE they'll sound different and better in a studio, they treat the sound differently and have a lot more time to get their takes right etc. You piece of shit scummo.

  • @OHollowTimes You're pretty mad and a perfect example of a retarded fan. It doesnt just sound 'different', it sounds fucking bad. It's not the audio quality. It's Cedric being fucking shit live. Other bands play their shit perfectly live so that's not an excuse. In conclusion; the band sucks live, get the fuck over it.

Also, were you really so upset about the blatant truth that you had to go through my comments for another reason to insult me? Have a fucking whine and shave that douche stache

  • @FlyingFuckstorm You're a perfect example of a terrible and autistic human being who thinks he has a license to be a cunt to everyone behind a guise on youtube. No, Cedric's not shit live, and no amount of stock-phrasing will prove your point otherwise. Yeah, i went and sparked off your other comments to reveal further just how much of a pathetic and useless, fucking awful, ill-informed and genuinely dispicable tastless redundant and feckless, witless, horrible and lonely twat you are.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm A know-it-all scared shitless little boy, that's all you are. You're wank. I bet you look like shit in person and your genes are trying to escape the very fabric of your existence, hoping to cross-pollinate via rape- the only way you get any sex.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm Also, do you actually have a band, and do you record yourself? I doubt it, and if you do, you're missing the point and no wonder you've never gained any success or appeal. Man, i fucking hate you.

  • @OHollowTimes I can barely fathom how hilariously mad you are.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm I love the Volta, but I wholeheartedly agree that Cedric sounds awful live. I have no doubts he can he hit the stuff in studio, but I think his partying, etc. in the past (and present, if applicable) is really catching up with him on tour, not to mention he likes to dance around to the detriment of his performance. I don't think the others sound too bad live, maybe Omar's lack of actual musical knowledge hurts when he tries to improv but that is just his style.

  • @rhcp211 I'm happy to say that he's been really fucking awesome on their current tour (well, it's actually Omar's group but it has all Volta members). Funnily enough, he drastically improved the moment he got a haircut.

Obviously this means his incredible fro was draining his power all along. Got knows what'll happen if Omar shaves his head. The world would be engulfed in a flaming hispanic guitarstorm.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm I have to agree with that from the recent stuff I've seen. As I said, I have no doubts he is more than capable of singing, he just has his mind on other things in a live setting. He seemed a little calmer and the vocals seemed to slot much more accurately because of it, a sacrifice I fully support if I'm paying 50-100 bucks to hear them play. Honestly, they could all make a man pile and shit on each others' chests and they would still be my favorite band and blow my mind...

  • @FlyingFuckstorm Yeah, I saw them live in the Vive Latino Festival, Cedric was tight as hell. It was quite the surprise to see him without the epic afro, though--especially because I though XImena Sariñana was the one who was going to sing!

  • What disappoints me is the audience that lies around them.

Can they even comprehend this music? They probably think the song is in an odd time signature when it's in an even. Full of kids that will only go as far as like a song cause it 'sounds cool'... sorry for the ranting...

    But godammit.

  • @MikeTheGuy00 Nice to know that you can project yourself into EVERY persons head and know exactly what they're thinking. Another jumped-up self serving vessel of crass, bold, bleak and unrewarding bollocks.

  • @OHollowTimes You can know what anyone is thinking through their actions, what they wear, where they look, what they do. Doesn't take good senses to see that some of these penis wrinkles don't know what shows or even music is all about.

  • I just can not get into them when they sing live. I mean they are a good band but...they just do not cut it for me when they play live. I do remember them saying that they do that on purpose so that they won't be the same as they were on the album. They want to play differently instead of exactly from their albums. I wouldn't mind seeing them live but I'm only saying that because I know I'll get all like pumped up and shit. lol

  • @LpCool19

i love (watching) em live (on youtube), i just dont like cedric's voice. there seems to be a 50/50 chance of him doing great vocals and doing so-so vocals.

  • I saw them play with Thomas and it was fucking sick. 9-11-09. Greatest concert I've ever been to

  • But he (Pridgen) is now in TheMemorials!

I like their music thus far.

    Representing Berkeley!

It's supposed to be the sick..

His drumming will continue to progress with this new project,

it's not like he retired! :)))

  • dude on drums is a monster

  • uh.....i just jizzed like 30 times....that was the best footwork.

  • Im glad they fired him he thought they were a metal band.

  • @ChonnyChimole are you autistic? his drumming isn't metal what so ever, he's a bit of everything, but he is deffinitly not a metal drummer.

  • Nowadays Cedric sounds like an anus farting :(

  • @Satansauro I disagree. I saw them live last october and he did an excellent job! it depends on the show i think

  • this isnt a band its a freakin ORCHESTRA!

  • Lyrics, line by line = moderately epic

Lyrics, together as a song = what

  • You Know The Funny Thing Is, If You've Seen The Volta Anywhere In Southern Cal Then You Prolly Know Half The People In The Audience. I See A Grip Of My Homies.

  • @tripllblakk Don't you get tired of typing like that..? Anyway... Cedric pisses me off! He has amazing range, amazing rhythm, writes brilliant vocal melodies, original lyrics and has an energetic stage perfomance. But he does'nt have the ear or the technique. He should really work on that, there's so much potential. If he does'nt have a vocal teacher and/or do vocal exercises he really should start doing so. It would add a lot to the band

  • @BrixSnBs HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Fuck off.

  • thomas=god

  • @seaneyw i always knew god was black with dreds. lol

  • Pridgren wasn't kicked out of the band, he said that he still keeps contact with the volta and said that since he's so young, he wants to do different stuff than just being in one band for the rest of his life. Perhaps he'll come back sometime :P

  • @Dodoced anything can happen, TMV is still a young band... look at King Crimson! Multiple line up changes

  • Omar is a great bandleader.

  • relatively speaking this is some of Cedric's better vocals.

  • fucking cedric ruins this performance big time, every second note he tries to hit he's flat; fucking ridiculous! everyone else is spot on tho, specifically thomas. saw him drumming for them twice live and the guy is a fucking BEAST.

  • tssss... no mamen, no puedo creer que la gente se haya quedado inmovil ante tal musica! me lleva el carajo y uno aqui marihuano...

  • wow.

i heard in an interview with thomas that sometimes when hes playing live with the mars volta he starts crying during a song coz the emotional experience he has whilst playing his drums with them. i think around the 5:40-5:45 mark this could be an example.

  • Cedric loco del coco amigo!

la rola me da mas miedo cuando la escucho del disco D:

  • I love them, but this souns awful

  • Personally, I think this is better than the studio version... just like most of their songs.

  • Comment removed

  • is he out of tune?..he sung great though

  • these vocals are so damn hard, im amazed they can play this during a concert

  • i never got to see them play with thomas =[ he's one of my favorite drummers.

  • I've been told he left the band is that only a rumor?

  • nope thomas left in october, but he has a new project coming out soon. this summer supposedly. keep an eye out for The Memorials Movement

  • i've been lucky. i discover the mars volta in 2008 and i saw them in summer 2008 w/thomas! they are my favorite band right now...

  • @docterblack I did :D he's a beast! D:

  • @docterblack i did! he was great!

  • I can't believe they've fired him..in the last year thomas has been my first source of inspiration!I'm so sad :(

  • damn it, does anybody know whos the new drummer?

  • @immortalx50 Dave Elitch

  • @CARTERmarryme he left but ya i know what your saying. such a shame.

  • @CARTERmarryme They didn't. He left on his own because he wanted to do something different than what TMV wanted.

  • @CARTERmarryme THOMAS LEFT.

  • @CARTERmarryme He really wanted to leave... he was fighting with Cedric and Omar

  • @bubbasock he had no problems with Omar, it was cedric he didn't get along with.

  • @CARTERmarryme he wasnt fired, he quit.

  • This is really fucking good

  • His last show playing with TMV was in charlotte. It was Awesome Sauce.

  • Thomas Pridgen has infact quit/was fired from The Volta. The new drummer they are playing with is alright his name is David Elitch. There is a video on youtube of them playing Eritarka with the new guy and eh hes alright giving that it was his first gig and he has only been playing with them for a week or so. It kinda sounds like jon is back there now. But...It is REALLY dissapointing that Thomas is gone. When i first seen him play my fucking jaw dropped man. But i did get to see his last show

  • I was listening to Bedlam for the first time, and this song came on, was the only one to stop me doing work, turn around and remember it's name. My all-time fav volta song. But I have yet to find a bad one, I love all Volta music.

  • well dude, there isnt bands like them out at all. there so unique with there sound, and they incorperate everything into there songs. they basically make every song "its own". ya get what im sayin?

  • that whole pridgen fired thing is a rumour, dude. try and find any actual information.

  • how do they have the energy to perform like this??? insane

  • Thomas Pridgen never fails to dissapoint.... he was pretty much the reason i got into the Volta. Cant believe he got kicked out/left

  • Don't you ever ever ever trust a ho. Lol. Just kidding. Love you Volta!!!

  • am i the only one loving everything but the vocals here? they are sooo awesome on the record, but especially on the refrain he never manange to hit the right notes... begins on a octave too low too... well tired i guess dunno

  • It might be so loud for him on stage that he can't hear himself on stage, he hits slightly better on the 2nd chourus, but still a bit off.

  • That describes my first mars volta experience! just a kick in the teeth... and i was hooked.

  • The beat sounds like a samba note at 200 km/h HAHA

  • hes gone.

  • Not as good live, but I don't blame 'em: they must've been tired by this time, moving about onstage. In the recording studio they don't have to be energetic. Mars Volta rocks!

  • fucking love the hidden beauty this song have

  • just modern culture

  • fuckin thank you for posting this!

  • this has a very acid jazz feel to it

  • the best damn songggggggggg

  • 5:38 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love it how they all stand very still @ 2:15 - 2:19

  • True dat

  • the best band in the world!
