The sooner we can understand that Coltrane was/is from another world, like many of the all-time greats, the easier it will be to appreciate this eternal scope of artistry the source has blessed us to hear. The content, expression, depth and soul of this man, along with the magnitude of his body of work and the Earth time it was completed in are absolutely astounding. Where on the planet is the birthplace of music? This place is sacred to the records of the celestial orbs and a thousand years
@concernedanonymous Check out Coltrane's "Meditations" album too. There's a lot of free improv between 'Trane and Pharoah on that one as well as the dual drumming of Elvin Jones and Rashied Ali. Great album.
@concernedanonymous most of Coltrane's album post 1965 are close to this. i suggest you to listen to Albert Ayler's whole work. Especially "Bells". Adn Shepp's "mama too tight" has a piece that is a long interesting group improvisation...then some let me think :) I don't remember all titles up to now...
From now we will know the message he came to give.

IF you can understand "the why" of yourself disliking something or someOne; why not fully extend that same mind set from others to yourself

To all saying this stupid word: "weird". This is free-jazz.... No notes, no preparation.

I love the large-group free improvisation like this and Free Jazz (Ornette Coleman). Does anyone else know of another good album in a similar style?

@concernedanonymous Maybe "Karma" by Pharoah Sanders. The song is called "The Creator Has a Master Plan".

@Praguedive Thankyou, I haven't heard much of Pharaoh Sanders, but I like his playing on Ascension, so I will check Karma out.
