Pretty much. The villian (Blackwolf) wants to rule the world and the only way his men can carry his commands without growing bored or distracted is by showing them Nazi propaganda, to inspire them to kill.
This is an awesome animated movie, i saw it back in 87 when i was 5/6 years old with my big brother Neil who rented it and it shocked me with it's bloody animated violence including seeing a fairy getting killed, i even saw Fire and Ice with him as well that year. I did rewatched this when i was 13 back in 95 as i loved it, one of my favorite animated movies. Who thinks this movie was the original Fist of the North Star?
@Johnlindsey289 This is my favorite Ralph Bakshi movie, to be honest. There's no doubt in my mind that it was the original Fist of the North Star, although Fist was considerably bloodier. lol.
Most agree, i mean Wizards shares the similar kind of story like Fist with the post apocalyptic stuff, magic vs. technology and 2 brothers with one to take over the world while another to heal it. Did you watched this movie as a kid and was shocked of how violent this movie was and did you think Elinore was a knockout?
@Johnlindsey289 I first saw this one when i was about 14, so it wasn't as shocking to me as it would have been if i had seen it at a younger age but i was kind of suprised by the level of violence in it and i thought Elinore was smokin hot.
Do you think she's hotter than Crysta from Ferngully? afterall this movie is like the adults only version of Ferngully, similar eco-saving storyline with fantasy, fairies, men against machines and against evil.
I composed a nice psychedelic song for this film. Anybody intrested check my KlemKaan - Wizards music video containing some footages from Wizards film :)
the cool thing about this movie is that it was made around the same time that people though all cartoons had to be these faggy little crappy things (for instance, the care bears and muppet babies). Bakshi did a nice job doing something a little more good.
Most agree but this was in 1977 and those you mentioned are in the 80's. Animation like this Wizards, Heavy Metal, Akira, Fritz The Cat, Ghost in The Shell, Beowulf, Ninja Scroll, Princess Mononoke, Pink Floyd's The Wall, American Pop, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, Fist of the North Star, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds (Warriors of the Wind), Starchaser Legend of Orin and more prove that there is mature audiences animation.
I "sorta" agree with you there, because Cool world wasn't bad, but the script could've been better. Or funnier. I liked the animated cartoons, though. They were cool. That's just MY opinion, though.
was that a nazi wizard? lol

@Johnlindsey289 Well, i think Crysta and Elinore are both equally as hot, but not as hot as Taarna, Angel, Lady Amalthea or Jasmine though.

Let's not forget Teegra, Adora and Cheetara.

James Cameron must have been influenced by this movie too on the same themes and name for Avatar

@Johnlindsey289 Yes, i'm quite sure this was one of his many inspirations for it as well.

@TheAltair4
Does this movie also remind you of Ferngully and Nausicaa? same kind of enviromentalist animated movie.
Johnlindsey289 11 months ago
@Johnlindsey289 Yes, it does share thematic simlarities with those films as well.

@TheAltair4
But does offer a good anti-war/enviromental message don't you think?
Johnlindsey289 11 months ago
@Johnlindsey289 Yes, i think it does. They are all very important sci-fi / fantasy films, in my opinion.

Man, had I seen this preview first, I would have never seen this movie. It's a good thing I didn't, because this movie kicks some major animated ass.
Very awesome and violent cartoon.

Rated PG!!???!
I saw this as a kid and it scared me for life!

I guess PG rated movies were different then. Look closely at the Pg rating at the end of the video: Not Suitable for PRE-TEENAGERS.

I was at Hollywood Video and Saw this in the childrens movies Section and told them they may want to watch it and reconsider its placement, lol.

Yeah, It's OK. Not what I thought it was. HEY GOOD LOOKIN' is his best.

No way man. Wizards was awesome, and hey good looking was OK. Fritz the Cat could have been ok, it just got a bit too weird.
I think Wizards is his best work.
I think we can all agree, however, that Cool World sucked ass.
