I'm really glad I found this vid. I haven't heard this song since I was probably still in middle school or elementary school and I never forgot it. I always liked it. Hmm...why didn't I search for this before? >.>
@CarsonsGuitarLesson Paul Brandt? Hank Snow? Terri Clark? Early Shania Twain? Michelle Wright, as the video poster pointed out (I've never heard of Lisa Brokup)?
@CarsonsGuitarLesson You Should Really Learn Music Before You Insult Canadian Music, Country to Rock to Metal. We Have More The Enough Talent In Mainstream Music. Wake Up.
I'm a die hard country fan, 64 years old and a fan from age 7, but when I heard the Mavericks, I was blown away. I could not stop listening to them, got all of their CDs, and still want more. I love the mixture of country with the Latino sound. Hey, Johny Cash had horns on one of his records, and Bob Wills had a 16 piece band with lots of horns, so its not so unheard of.
@loverofcountry506070 sign up for the forum at raulmalo.com and meet some friends... you might be blessed with some "extra" Mavs/Raul malo stuff. :-) Ask in private message to someone.
@loverofcountry506070 I too have "fallen" for their style and talent, lovely. Only saw and heard of them the first time here on YouTube about a month ago...
@loverofcountry506070 I loved their mixture of old country and old rock. Raul's spannish flavored voice, Pete's cutting edge drumming, and the guitar work of Nick and Raul playing harmony. One thing that made the Mavericks sound was, since they did not have a steel guitar player, the use of horns, piano, and electric guitar two - part harmony in the place of the fiddle and steel guitar.
As a rule, country music labels, country music radio and country music fans fear change. Heck, a lot of them still haven't gotten over General Lee's surrender in 1865, so God forbid anybody breaks out a trumpet to interfere with their twang.
Er, no,actually. It is a verse that is a chorus- A repeated part of a song, also called the refrain. Usually, but not always, a "Chorus" is a refrain sung by a number of singers.Someday I may get a life and stop being so pedantic. But as you say, it's a nice song for sure!
This song should be on the minds of all Washingtonians. The reason I say this is because we have rain here and there, and I think of the rain when I hear this song.
Good week to all my American friends .... I always dream of setting foot on your continent ... really nice ... My life here is too strict on many point, France is not paradise .... but it is nice to dream elsewhere there are people who think to yourself if you do not speak the same language, music is a universal language and my choice for Americans is final! kisses to all my brothers and sisters of my heart that I love!
@zebulette1 Look at it this way, France isn't exactly known for winning wars. Although the citizens are known to be pretty badass when it comes to that good old fashioned "coup de eta" Hope I spelled that right, but what the hell.
Yup They're a dynamite band. Malo's new solo CD is pretty good, too -- it's growing on me, anyway, good truck-driving music. I wish they'd all lose some weight, lift some weights, and get back together. No more donuts, Raul!! :)
I totally agree Fantom. That was the better of eras. The closest country station to your wish is XM has a station called Prime country. It plays 80's, 90's, and some aughts hits. The only country I listen to. The Mavericks rock!
90's country was special it was almost as though garth brooks made the standard to which everyone else would have to reach. i wish they had a 90's country station as cmt was in the 90's before all this patriotic pro war garbage.
Your love's a heartache That's torn me apart You've watched my heart break Right from the start You took everything you wanted And now that you are gone (Chorus 1) Here comes the rain Falling down on me I'm showered in pain Nothing remains Of what used to be
(Chorus 2) Here comes the night Dark as my soul There's no end in sight No shining light No love to hold Here comes the rain I must have been dreaming I must have been blind But I never thought you Could be so unkind Tomorrow I'll forget you But I can't forget you now
Thanks for posting-- this goes straight into my playlists. Only got into him recently by accident -wished I had discovered him earlier- What can this guy NOT sing well?
This song is so well written it's just amazing. The production and performance are right on the mark. And for pity's sake, the video has a Dano Longhorn doubleneck.
Mavericks opened for Mary Chapin Carpenter back in i wanna say '94 or '95 in St Louis. Deakin opened it up with o what a crying shame. After their set we were gone. Sorry Mary. Opener/Headliner shouldve been reversed
these guys opened for hank williams jr at hunter mountain back in the mid 90s....sro and not just for hank...look at the results today....my own premonition.....play the hitzzzzz!!!
awesome group! so sad that their period of success was so short!
